Edited by: Marquedios on 04/08/2004 10:17:44 I'm currently working on a production sales quote program which would allow for fast efficient price quotes for production corporations/individuals of upto 15 products. Some screen shots of what I've done so far with the UI: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2, Screenshot 3.
A quick run down of how the program works so far. I've only shown the main windows in these 3 screenshots since the first window is just a prompt for the users name and the last window is just a final order summary that can be copied and pasted into some forum if that is how you work.
The first screenshot I've shown here is where you plug in your mineral/component prices (pretty self explanatory there).
The second screenshot is where the order is taken. First column is the QTY of the product in that row. Second column is your production efficiency skill lvl. Third column is the BP ME (will most likely be auto input once the product is selected). The fourth column is the sub-sections sorta like the EVE market is but not a tree view (ei: Beam L, Hybrid L, Hybrid Charges etc). Once you select a sub-section the Product Name column drop down list for that row is populated and you can select an item from that sub-section.
The Third screenshot is, what I like to call, the bargaining page. This page will display what minerals are needed for each product (multiplied by the quantities), isk ammount (multiplied by the quantities and using the prices of minerals/components you set earlier) and a total overall mineral usage/isk cost.
Since you can easily get to this page you can put your calculators away and allow the program to do all the work which will allow you to:
1) Handle large orders fast and efficiently.
2) See exactly how many minerals are required for the entire order so you can check your mineral stock before committing to the order.
3) View the build cost in isk and make your offer/negotiate the final cost.
The program is going to be completed regardless of the public's opinion as this is a final project for a programming class I'm taking, but what I'm wondering here is if you would like to use this type of a program. I'm most likely also going to need some help searching for bugs I've overlooked, but whether that will be open to non corp members is still up in the air.
Your Thoughts are most welcome!!

The screenshots look good, minimalistic but functional.
Maybe add a production time cost. "Hey, it took 3 days to manufacture this, I don't work for free."

lol, I had a feeling someone was going to suggest that, but yeah I'll be working on it and refining all the output once I get all the basic code figured out which is damn near done. Wasn't for sure if someone would find the time needed to produce of any real importance. Thanks :D Tenßx Incorporated Online Application |

I think this is a cool idea. Will there be a functionality to 'load' a new BP into the existing Database? (i.e. I buy a new BP, enter the mineral info etc then wish to genrate a quote in the usual manner).
If you need any help with the bug-hunting I would be glad to offer my help - just contact me ingame.

Looks nice.
I would also recommend adding on the third picture where price is set an option to put in a percentage markup and calculate a final price for those who operate that way.

Aye, there will be a feature to do that. The numbers are generated from the base mineral cost of the BP so what will happen is that you'll input your PE skill lvl, the BP data and then the BASE mineral needs will be stored in the database. Haven't quite got that far, but the code shouldn't be that hard to apply.

I was considering this and I'll add it in once I finish the code for the "bargaining" page cause yes I would find this feature handy as well. Tenßx Incorporated Online Application |

Oh, a request for you Tech II builders out there... Given that I don't have every single tech II BPO/C there is I can't tell which trade goods are used in these BP's, it would be nice to know what all is used so that I could create the fields in the database/put them in the program. Thanks in advance. Tenßx Incorporated Online Application |

Do you think that there is any way to actually get all of the market data from the ingame market outside the game at all? The game has to query some form of database to find it, so there is that ability to find such things... Perhaps to find trade routes from one system to another, and find exactly how many jumps that would be... Sounds like too much work, but I still think that it would be available outgame.
