Very new to EW, and my question is:
If a corp member is baiting can flippers and he is in a frig fitted for gank. Can I being in an EW ship jam, scram, & web the ship without giving the canflipper kill rights on me?
Thanks, I know this is a noob question.

Edited by: Aveng3X on 09/02/2009 17:25:21 As with all acts of aggression, if you shoot a flashy, the flashy can shoot back at you.
Kill rights work like this:
You see a ship in low sec, and kill it. He does not shoot back. Kill rights are put on your head for 30 days.
OR...
You see a ship in low sec, and kill it. He shoots back. Kill rights are not applied.
OR...
You see a ship in low sec, you shoot him, he kills you. Kill rights are not applied.
OR...
You see a ship in low sec that is an outlaw (sec below -5.0) or is GCC (globally criminally aggressed) and kill him. Kill rights are not applied.
In any sec above 0.0, if you kill a ship and he does not return fire, then the pilot will have kill rights on you, even in Empire where CONCORD will blow your ship up. |

Edited by: Kyt Thrace on 09/02/2009 17:31:56 Ok dont know if I made my question clear.
I am NOT going to shoot(missiles/turrents) said can flipper. I am only there in my EW ship to Jam, Scram, & Web said can flipper. My corp mate who's can it was that got flip will be doing the shooting.
Does can flipper have kill rights on me? (Being that I only jammed, scrammed, & webbed said can flipper)
P.S. Also This is in Highsec only. |

Jamming, neuting, scrambling or webbing are considered acts of aggression, and the rules that aveng3x stated apply. However, if your corp mate successfully baited the can flipper, he should be flashy red to your entire corp for 15 mins and you will have no legal consequences shooting/jamming him.

Also, just to clarify a bit of terminology: - Agression Timer / Flagging: If someone is "flashing red", then you can shoot them without CONCORD getting involved. However, doing so gives your target the same "flashing red" display against you, and they can fire back without CONCORD coming to save you. - Kill Rights: If someone destroys your pod (meaning you lose your implants, etc., and come back as a clone), then you are granted "Kill Rights". This allows you to pod that person once in high/low sec without losing security status, and lasts 30 days.
Can anyone back me up on this, or correct me if I'm wrong? I'm a little confused sometimes how it works exactly. Also, do Kill Rights mean you can attack someone in high-sec w/o CONCORD coming, or do the usual rules still apply?

Flashy - red does indeed imply concord-free shooty shooty status. I'll reinforce the bit about you shooting a flashy flashy giving that person the same rights back on yourself. DO NOT fire on a flashy red target unless you are in a combat capable ship. Assume any flashy red in something tasty and small has a pvp-fit ship of dooooom waiting in system. A common tactic is to get you to aggress them while they're flying a disposable frig, then come back (before the 15 minutes is up) in a much bigger ship to munch on you.
Kill rights - If you are podded (big flash, wake up in your med clone station) in high sec, outside of a declared war, you will receive kill rights on the aggressing party. You can then freely, anywhere in empire (high or lo-sec) engage that target. Concord will not interfere. Once you open fire, they can again fire back upon you... be warned.

You don't need to be podded to get kill rights. If someone blows up your ship in low sec and you don't return fire, you will have kill rights on that person, or vice-versa.
