Solo takedown of offline-POS, possible?

The idea would be to get cheap throwaway laser ship, lock the tower and go afk untill it's dead. However i'm not sure about the maths, a large pos seems to have 8mill armor, which should take around 4-5hours to get trough with 500 dps, but what about the hull? Hull seems to have crazy resists? And what about the shields? Are they completely gone since the tower is offline? Do they regen? ... Anybody with more experience able to shed some light on these matters? Thanks
Ferlia arian Glowing Goat Black Fence. 0	Posted - 2012.04.22 16:57:00 - [2] - Quote the shields are still there, with recharge, so you will need enough dps to overcome that. the resists are for modules not for the tower itself. the diffrence between offline and online tower is the forcefield, not shields.

Thanks In short, and in my opinion (attempted this a few times in W-space), the short answer is technically yes, but realistically no. If you are shooting a POS, in all cases you are to some extent vulnerable to some sort of retaliation, unless it's a one man corp and he's long unsubbed and you're in highsec w/ a wardec on his corp. In all OTHER cases, though, the simple realistic answer is no in anything less than, say, a cap. EDIT: I know of a few BS fits that others have used to do this, but again, with the time to takedown, it's a realistic no.

The two battleships were just to make sure nothing disturbed the destroyer throughout the process.

Remember that this POS had a 450 hp/s tank at the peak (a little more with that damn 50% res therm). The cheap coercer, with its mighty 200dps, negated it a lot. I killed a few POSes (little and medium) with only coercers, while I wasnt even behind the screen.
