As a student taking a women's studies course this semester, my eyes have been opened to the systematic gender bias that permeates through every aspect of our lives. I think a lot of EVE's players could benefit from paying closer attention to how ingrained stereotypes and gender bias are throughout this game and their own lives.

You should have been. Why is it insulting that a man be called a woman, but when the reverse is a applied (using "guys" as a collective term), no one bats an eye? You need to start standing up for yourself and not accept such negative stereotypes as normal or acceptable.

As a soldier I have some things to point out.
In Middle eastern society, women are not looked at as equals as they are in US, Europe, or most democratic nations. This insult is being taken out of context. Calling a Iraqi male, a woman, is just as bad as calling someone a racial slur. <ADD> As a NCO myself, sometimes you have to berate your men and take charge to get results. Military/Police mindset is completely different then a civilians. You have to talk to a man differently to get the right reaction. Iraqi males hate being called women. And I garentee he ****ed everyone off in that formation.
Hes right though, I saw it all the time, friends of mine had to get wounded or killed fighting the war that not even most of the soldiers believe in, and yet Iraqis weren't willing to take charge of themselves. Though last time I was there there was some big improvements with the Iraqi Army and Iraqi Police doing there job.
and though I know Twinkey is loved...I dont think this belongs in this forums :P

God I miss Twink...that guy has to be related to Twink. Anyways, Twink is still in basic, he has a bit more time left before he gets done, afterwards he'll be going on to do Airborne training. Can't wait till the day he comes back! |
