As a ninja salvager, I'm happiest when the mission runner is using a Coercer or Cormorant. Thrashers and Catalysts are too fast and efficient.

I personally use a Thrasher but the Catalyst and Coercer both have more lows (though the base cargohold on the Coercer is only 300, The PG on the Catalyst is low at 60)

They all have 8 highslots..
If you want the absolute most capacity, go with the one with the most lows, and fill them with cargo expanders.
If you wanna be able to run ALL of your modules 100% of the time without running out of cap, go for more mids and stuff them with cap rechargers.
More mids = better cap stability but you sacrifice cargo space, more lows = more cargo space at the expense of cap stability.

Just use a nice frigate. NPCing is so mind dulling sometimes you might as well put a tiny bit of thought of getting them to die in the right spot. And my little incurus fits 3 salvagers and goes pretty fast with just a normal afterburner. |

I find the Cormorant the best suited.
I dont loot I only salvage. I have my dedicated salvage Cormy with 3 Salvage rigs and a cargo expander in the lows to hit 453 m/s with good Nav skills. This is done with a Gistii B-type AB.
I can perma run everyhting. |

Catalyst. 3 cargo xpander II's in the lows with a cargo opti. rig for a total of 953 m3 cargo space, ysb afterburner, and eutectic cap charge array in mids, 4 salvagers, 2 tractors, with room for salvage rig and another cargo rig or whatever setup one chooses. Cap charge array allows me to pretty much perma run the afterburner as i forget to turn it off sometimes when i'm whoring the salvage and loot |

I'd say the same if I could fly minny ships… Until then, though, Harby + oversized AB (just be sure to slow down so you don't fly away from the wrecks you're tractoring). |

Edited by: Rhatar Khurin on 10/02/2009 11:55:54 I used to use a coecer, but a thrasher or catalysh seem to do the job well enough. I use a hurricane myself tho. |

Hurricane is no doubt the best for this. 6 expander II, 3 cargo rigs give you over 3k space. Fit 4 tractors, 4 salvagers and a 10mn afterburber, you got the perfect salvaging machine. |

Tractors are useless, OP wants to salvage other peoples leftovers.
I prefer an Eris for salvaging. |

the best Destroyer for the job is the Catalyst - it has the biggest cargo (3 t2 expander), enough pg and esp. enough cap for using a best named AB, 5 tracs and 3 salvs without much trouble. The Cormorant is even better in that part - being capstable - but has not enough cargo. Tested also Thrasher and Coercer - and still feel most comfortable with the Catalyst. I dont use rigs though, neither for salvaging nor for cargo.
Hurricane is better though, but also more expensive - I do it like this: set up a Catalyst for salvaging in those systems where I am very often, so I dont need to jump through many systems to get my salvage-ship. I feel I save much more time that way than I would save with a rigged Cane which is 3 jumps out ... and the price for a fully fitted Catalyst is not too high either. |

I use a Catalyst
Highs 4x Tractor 4x Salvager (4 salvagers is better then 5 tractors, when your wreck gets close, turn off the tractor and turn it on another wreck, you dont need more then 4 tractors, my salvagers already work the entire time, losing 1 would slow the whole thing down)
Mids Named AB Cap Recharger
Lows 3x Cargo Expander Tech 2
Cargo room is about 821m3 Even with salvage tackles it can easily fly over 400m/s
Only during very large salvage operations have I ever ran out of cap, and when I do, its usually because I am sitting still running all the highs at once and I left the AB on
I forget to turn it off sometimes. :p
I can clear an entire room of loot in next to no time.
I usually reprocess the worthless (under 100k) crap into trit and make my own ammo and drones for missions. I havent bought either ammo or drones in forever. |

Use a Stabber (Cruiser) - higher capacity capabilities, the speed is even out due to Cargo expanders, and the loss of one tractor and salvager is hardly noticeable.
For ultimate salvaging, Navy Issue Stabber, upwards of 1500 + cargo space.
My Stabber:
3 Cargo Expanders II in Low: That's 870 m3 AB II, and a Capacitor Recharger II (3rd Mid what ever - Can fit a MicroWarp drive - but mostly dead space in missions).
3 tractor and 3 salvagers (can be fitted for ninja salvage too).
If you can target more than 4 items, it makes the process quick, bring in 3 items, start the salvaging, bring in another 2 to 3 by the time they start coming, salvagers are done, it's like a chain.
And the speed is way better.

This is my exact setup (I can't pull in other people's wrecks so the other highs are empty)
