Hey ive just installed the 5 gb of the new eve client version and after short time and different display settings i come to the conclusion that eve is no longer playable for me
i got a very old machine, yes but im playing the current classic client on 1600*1200 with all detail enabled.
i got: amd athlon 64 3000+ @ 2.01 ghz 512 mb ram ddr geforce 5200 fx 128mb
and it actually runs not too bad on the old client
the new client does not display textures and space enviroment properly shipmodell and background texture sometimes load sometimes not
due i dont have more then 512 mb ram everything is very laggy but shouldnt at least the grafic display work???
does anyone got any tuning tipps? i heard promises that the lite version will even run better then classic with details down... i guess im not the only 1 with a slowboat pc ...maybe ur too proud of ur new modells...
but i can only ask to enable more options for better performance if u face similar problems please write em down here

Can you make a few screenshots? Would help since some of the models / textures are not ready yet from what I've seen so far.
About the laggy thing: Try disabling some of the effects, play around with the cache size. Not 100% sure about the cache but with only 512 RAM you shouldn't go over 32MB I guess. Also if you got scene 2 enabled try to set the shader model 2 to "lo".
And then let's see how further opimizations from ccp's side work out but right now I would recommend to upgrade the RAM to at least 1024 (only got 1 gig myself but that's enough so far). Normal DDR RAM isn't that expensive anymore and it's defintley worth it if you have a few bucks for it (unless you plan to buy a new rig soon anyway) ----------------------------- OMG THE SKY IS FALLING! Contract me all your stuff so I can save it! |

Edited by: Bloodchild on 10/02/2009 12:18:07 first update: disableing the scene 2 crap actually solves the problem for now its all nice and not laggy any more... grafic and textures work too
even with low texture modules it still eats too much performance
pls keep working on the low grafic setup or enable more options for the graficcard
i get the feeling that ur current relation to nvidia shows first impact eh? everyone get a new graficcard now (with nvidia chipset?)
2nd part: http://dl.eve-files.com/media/0902/evebug.JPG this is what i see with (1024x , all details disabled and low textures on scene1)

Easy fix : Buy more RAM Buy a better gfx card.
2001 is long gone.

jeah and i dont need u to tell me that but i only play eve and work on pc so i dont need a high end pc im sure i could get some ram quick buuut my geforce 5200 was supposed to work and i also got enough cpu so say something to topic or be gone
dont really think the ram caused that bugs:P |

Hate to break it to you, but FX 5200's were never good. They were also never decent, or enough, for anything.
The reason Classic worked well was because it didn't even care; it was mostly CPU based.
Buy a new graphics card. A 50 Euro card is a twentyfold improvement over a 5200, at least.
A 5200 would struggle to play games from the year it was released, not to mention Trinity EVE. |

Its not that expensive to upgrade... my laptops 8600gt runs eve premium at 70fps.... they cost pocket change now |

Here we go again, "buy a new gfx card", yeah one that still works on old motherboards with old PSUs - good luck.
If CCP say that the 'light' client will run on GeForce 5 series then it should be possible to run it on such a card.
Classic version works great on my PC and the new light version could also work great. I hope that they will do some optimising and also some graphics effects (things like bump mapping) can be switch on/off in future. |

I have an HP laptop with AMD Turion TL-62 x2 2.10 ghz 3GB ram nvidia geforce7150m graphics (crappy I know)
premium lite runs like crap on the lowest settings. 3.3fps in station with environment turned off. 12fps outside station with no effects. This computer isnt a year old and now if I wanna keep playing eve I have to shell out more cash on a new computer AGAIN. Ive been playing since NOV 03. EPIC FAIL CCP thnks alot

CCP are not responsible for making you play on a weak laptop.

Somehow i like the "never touch a running system" thing and i dont think that Buying a new gfx card is necesary if we could stay with the classic and premium client modes. So just wondering how much corporations like ATI or Geforce pay ccp to do such things =¯

Bloodchild:
As a first measure, I'd try and install the latest NVidia video driver, if you have not already done so.
Very often, systems such as yours which basically run unchanged over a long period of time will experience hefty graphics errors when suddenly trying to run a game that was developed many years after the video card itself. This is due to the fact that the old video driver simply has no idea what to do with the instructions it receives. Video drivers nowadays aren't just interfaces for a game to communicate with the hardware; they are massively customized for every single game and won't work right otherwise.
Steps for a clean video driver reinstall: - Download new driver package from NVidia, place it in an easy to reach spot - Uninstall your old driver (f. ex. via control panel -> add/remove programs) - Reboot; the computer now starts up with really crappy graphics - Install the new driver package you downloaded in step 1 - Reboot; the computer will now start with slightly less crappy graphics - Readjust your display settings to what you had before
I've also heard that the performance of the SiSi premium client is notably worse and more bug-laden than the current Quantum Rise live client. Maybe you will experience less problems with the final, performance-optimized version of Apocrypha.
In the end, though, I can only recommend to you that you consider buying a new computer sometime in the future. Without trying to be insulting, you are running what was entry-level hardware six years ago, and that is not going to run modern games very well. And with every year that passes, it's going to get less playable. You can probably get double or triple the performance out of a brand-new $300 ultra low cost system than you get out of your current one.
I can even give you a few sample configurations, if you give me a budget to work with. -

enable scene 2 in the latest build, select SM_2_0_LO as shadermodel, apply, restart client --- SIG --- CSM: your support is needed ! |

5000 series nvidia's are for the most part antiques by modern fps gaming standards and are also not supported by the latest nvidia graphics drivers. If the light client will run on a 5000 series nvidia great but that will not alter the reality that nvidia has already relequated your video card to the annals of computing hardware relics they no longer support time to go shopping!

FX5200 was horrible even for it's time. I think my old GF4 MX440 was outperforming it even
