Like the topic says, I would like to know if the site for fanfest is wheelchair accessable. If I want to go this year, I need to start saving now. Not being able to get into the building would render that a moot point.
Also, any details as to the hotels in the area and their accessability would be awesome.
Actual experiences would be nice-perhaps a native of the area?

If we use the same venue as Fanfest 2008 (and 07) it is both wheelchair accessible and has an elevator to help between the floors.

Well, the Fanfest is "mostly" accessible. The main auditorium is accessed by going up a flight of stairs. Plus the entrance they had people using into the big party at end of Fanfest required going up a fight of stairs too.
As for hotel, I've stayed at Nordica twice for the past two Fanfest. The handicap room has roll-in shower and plenty of room to roll around.
Transportation around Iceland can be via wheelchair friendly taxi vans where you roll up into the back or by regular cab if you can transfer yourself or have travel companion.
I will warn you about the Flybus though. They claim to only have one wheelchair lift-equiped bus and were unable to get it for my trips to/from airport. That meant a $150 fare once and $100 fare another time. Fortunately some cool Icelandic friends gave us rides to airport for rest of trips. :)

there's a wheelchair accessible entrance to the party area. Not sure on the auditorium area, however.

Thanks for the responses everyone. With the possible exception of the auditorium area, all looks good so far.
I'll make plans to go for now, but if it isn't too much trouble, notate your "OMG Fanfest is here!!!!1!!" blog later this year with info on accessability, just in case there is anything that crops up.
