The range is being reduced to 1km, you can test the changes on chaos.

Originally by: BH Valar The range is being reduced to 1km, you can test the changes on chaos.
The decision to change it back was mentioned some time ago. The devs were quick to nerf cloaks after they came out, but have been slow to reverse it now that they have decided that it was fine as it was. Putting the change on Chaos does us no good. Putting back on Tranquility, where we actually play, will. Originally by: "Dev Blog: Tranquility, patch and proposed cloaking" The current hotfix of 10Km decloaking range would of course be reverted. Good thing is we don't need a client patch for this, we can do a server update in the scheduled downtime, after it's been through QA.
That was a month ago. And I have since read (unable to find source) that it was decided to do nothing and let those who use smartbombs in Empire suffer the consequnces. If this is really the case, then this could have been reverted in *any interim downtime* between the decission to do so and now. So why are we still waiting?

Wasn't it the other way around? Let thous who cloak take the consequences, ei. if your hurt by a smartbomb while cloaked concord won't protect you.
That's what I thought... might be wrong thoug?

Edited by: JoCool on 06/08/2004 11:45:30 Who in his right mind would fly a 130million isk ship into smartbomb range with a 4% insurance?
If you're talking about cloaks for normal ships, well yes that's possible. But once you warp in and disappear at once the empire npc hunter should be warned right ahead. An official news message like the sentry guns had should be enough and avoid 99% of the grief.

Because it is a change that needs to come out in a patch. Like the upcoming Castor one. It was not possible or desired that this change come out as a hotfix.

So which action was taken in the end?
Do invisible people take the consequences of being invisible, or are innocent smart-bomb using people punished for being unaware of invisible people?
