As you can tell by the screen name I'm a old school BT fan. So here are a few ideas from those days:
1) Job Board: Here you could post jobs, mining contracts, mercenary contracts, whatever. Need 1mil Trit by a certain date and don't feel like mining? Post it on the board. Want to go mine in low sec, but don't have good PvP skill? Post a request to hire Merc Unit for protection.
2) In BT we used to have something called the Mercenary Review and Bonding Commision.
Basically the way it worked simplified was that a trusted 3rd party would hold the contract fee in escrow till the job was done. Once completed the 3rd Party would either release the funds if mission completed or refund the funds to employeer if mission failed due to deception on the part of the Merc Unit.
In Eve, board should consist of 1 Member from each Faction (Amarr, Min, Gal, Cal, and Concord). What I haven't figured out is a way for contracts to be disputed? Completion of contract could be just a simple matter of the employeer just clicking on a link on the board saying job done.
Each mission should allow you to rate the unit on a scale of say 1 - 5. A average of these ratings would translate into a Unit Rating (ie 5=A, 4=B, etc). If I thought there was any chance of it working I would honestly prefer to have rotating Player reps. During the time say 1 week that you are sitting on the board. You would respond to contract disputes as a group and met out payment/punishment.
Just a idea 2005.01.21 05:09:06combatYour Tachyon Beam Laser I perfectly strikes Blood Priest, wrecking for 533.1 damage. |

There are times when I miss stomping around in a 3055 kitted Victor and I'm getting a kick out of this idea. Are you thinking about a player-run corporation, or something that is CCP supported as the corp CEO?

It'd have to be CCP-related for it to be trusted, I think.

That's a pretty cool idea.
As for a player corp, or someone from CCP.. why not just have a dev, GM, or ISD member as the CEO and let the directors be regular players. Just be sure to limit their abilities.
Would give alot of people something to do. I'd love to be able to check a list of jobs and find one that I can do.
Just please.. for gods sake.. dont let it become one giant Ad space for corps.

if you don't wake up, i'll have to stop kissing you. all that flailing has made you sleepy. you rest while i untie you. stay here until they find you. My hand made mannequin. i won't let them get you. they'll know you're mine by the fingerprints on your throat. isn't she lovely? isn't she wonderful? like the *****s that we are, swatting flies from the wounds we design. |

While I love this idea, would have doubt about how practical. maybe better have something more on an ebay idea with ratings given by both parties once the contract is completed, the investigation of disputes would be impossible for players and the last thing we need is more stuff taking up GM's time, takes em long enough to get anything done now.

Cool since most of the people responding here seem to know BT I will use BT terms to make things easier.
Board would be done up the same as in BT. Comstar (represented by Concord/CCP hopefully a GM or ISD person.) Then at least 4 players, no more then 6, must however be a even number. Concorde should always act as tie breaker vote, otherwise they abstain in the face of majority rule. So as to show no favortism to either said....
Now my brain froze right here when I wrote the post, I'm hoping you all would have some ideas for how to sturcture things and interact with them.
1) Mission board would be access from the current Missions window.
2) Mission would need to be vetted somehow to remove spamming and scamming.
3) A fee has to be enacted for placing a AD, just like placing one in the classified.
4) Some way to post feedback, recommendations, etc..
Mainly this board would be used to hire Mercs for jobs such as: 1) Convoy protection 2) Mining operation protection 3) Escort missions personnel 4) Hire Miners 5) Hire Traders 6) any combination of the above items and any that I missed.
THIS WILL NOT BE ANOTHER MARKET FORUM!!! No WTS,WTB,WTT BS!! The position of your Ad will be based on the amount of positive feedback you recieve in previous deals. 2005.01.21 05:09:06combatYour Tachyon Beam Laser I perfectly strikes Blood Priest, wrecking for 533.1 damage. |

While we're on this subject, I've often thought that the Billboards floating in space - whilst often nothing more than an obstacle for my indi to get stuck on in the same systems where gate NPC pirates spawn - could be so much better.
My ideas include:
- You can buy physical billboards (for, say, like 200m a pop or something).
- other players can pay you to put adverts up on them, for recruitment, trade sales, wanted ads and so on. -----------------------------------------------
Originally by: Orestes, EVE Lead Forum Moderator Market people are strange. Fighting is so much more straightforward.

How could I forget about the Battlemaster? Always loved that one, even moreso than the Victor. As for the Warhammer, I got a kick out of seeing it in Robotech: Macross and in BT as well. Never cared for what Harmony Gold did to FASA though with the Robotech mechs though.
I'm passing knowledge of this thread around to staff that may be able to work something out. No promises, but there's a chance.
