Edited by: Harik A''ttar on 14/02/2009 00:59:10 I've got the core fonts installed per the winetricks script - and I can read the EULA, login, select character, etc.
After a few minutes, new text quits rendering - often with various textures being wrong. A black moros with lime-green pokadots looks pretty weird.
http://welp.gs/eve/2009.02.14.00.03.15.jpg is a screenshot.
Also when this happens the framerate goes relly low.
Important bits: ATI HD3200 256m ram Wine 1.1.14 (direct from winehq)
linux 2.6.28, 64bit kernel module - fglrx 8.56.4 (Dec 1 2008) (II) Module fglrx: vendor="FireGL - ATI Technologies Inc." compiled for 7.1.0, module version = 8.56.4
EVE premium client - with premium graphics options turned off.

Edited by: Draco Argen on 16/02/2009 00:59:33 If its after a few minutes it will be related to the GFX driver i suspect. Likely a memory leak or that a function is called that screws up the text.
As far as i know the ATI drivers are far from perfect. Dont run ATX myself, is that the latest ATI driver?
Also just to be sure, have you tried either of the following; * Drop in the d3dx9_36.dll file in drive_c\windows\system32\ * Add Wine Direct3D Registery Edits. * Compiz is off * KDE4 Desktop Effects are off
http://eveaholic.mmmetrics.co.uk/installing-wine/ for detaled breakdown of those top two options (Though they dont relate to the exact bullet points i've listed :P)
PS whats wrong with Lime green! lol

In order: Yes. Yes. Don't use it. Don't use them.
Nothing is wrong with lime green - but I do somewhat miss having TEXT in my client. :)
Looks like there's a 2-week old driver update for ATI, I'll give that a shot and report back.

So yes. You can't see the EULA without doing that. But good job seeing the keyword "fonts" and hitting the standard response button.

wine 1.1.15 didn't fix the problem, but the catalyst 9.1 drivers may have - I could reliably trigger it by toggling all icons on/off/on/off before. I'll leave it running for an hour or so to see if the problem returns.

No corruption with the 9.1 drivers - looks like a bug in 8.12.
Framerate is pretty crap and running two clients locks the second one hard (using the explorer /desktop=EVE2 bla bla thing). Same hardware booted into windows gets about 2-3x framerate - 50-60 in vista x64 vs 20-25 in WINE. I'll move that conversation over to a framerate thread though.
