"Gfx speed up: Turrets on entities and ships other than yourself are only visible when ships are "looked at" ( using Look At command ) or after they open fire. Boosters on ships that are not your own are also only fitted when ship is looked at"
Great.. While your at it, why dont you also remove all planets unless looked at, and stations, and other ships, and star gates..
Please at least give us the option to TOGGLE this on if we need it, becuase some of us DONT.

What would toggling it ON do for you? I don't know about you, but unless I am actually using the Look At, I can't tell if a ship has turrets or not anyhow. Maybe I'm just confused about what your asking for??

I like the way shadows are mirrored on water in some new FPS. I don't always look at the water, but I still like the fact that I know they're there. If I'm playing a large map, and start getting laggy, I turn the shadow effects off, which helps a bit. But I'm always thinking that I'm not playing at the game's full potential.
Eve is graphically beautiful. It has won many awards for this aspect, and it's probably the first thing many newbies comment on.
That is what is he's trying to say...

Let me cut in out in cheese..
I want to be able to decide my self if want turrests and the effects to be shown always or not.
Personally I want them to be on all the time, becuase I have no problems with the game now (gfx wise).
I dont want CCP to force me to only see "half" of the ships, unless I "look at them".
I got the PC for it, so I dont want to be pulled down by it becuase others maybe dont.
The simple way to make everyone happe: Add a option for it, so we can turn this new "nerf" on or off as we wish. ------------- Most tired of thing atm: - Mods on the forum saying: "Please use the bug report page to submit bugs, the forum is not the place to post them." and then closing a topic. |

It may not be up to date and Doom 3/Halflife 2'ish.. But its still looking damn good..
Anyway.. Just becuase its out of date, does not mean they have to make it worse by adding a "nerf" like this, and then forcing everyone to suffer from it. ------------- Most tired of thing atm: - Mods on the forum saying: "Please use the bug report page to submit bugs, the forum is not the place to post them." and then closing a topic. |

so you're saying you can see the turrets on other ships without using the look at command, what you have a 30 inch widescreen monitor. They are doing this to combat lag, which no matter what system you are running happens in fleet battles and with a lot of ships onscreen. My system is far above the recommended requirements for this game in ALL areas and I still experience the lag. They are trying to improve performance in the engine by taking out something that no one sees unless they use the look at command anyways. I say it's a step in the right direction.

It will be good for those that need it, thats right, but that does not mean everyone has to be forced to use it.
A simple on or off option would make everyone happy. Or maybe you dont agree with that? ------------- Most tired of thing atm: - Mods on the forum saying: "Please use the bug report page to submit bugs, the forum is not the place to post them." and then closing a topic. |

No we don't agree with that.
I'm guessing something more, why would it only show if you do a look at? What a look at do in fact, it change your point of view, load a new ship model maybe (with other stuff) so I guess it will in fact reduce lag just because the server will NOT send all the ships turrets configuration anymore to the client (unless Look-AT that is)
So there is no ON-OFF switch possible because your client will NOT have the information anyway (think show info screen!)
Happy now? anyway, like others said, good luck seeing them right now.
Also, each time you fire (look closely) you see the ammo or laser goes from your exact gun position to the exact target (sometimes the mining laser lose the target it seem) so maybe now the target precision will be kept, but not the source, so each time a gun will fire in a fleet battle (that is not your ship) your client might not have to PRECISELY calculate where EXACTLY it was coming from, beeing more loose, maybe help performance...
This post is pure speculation, if you are not happy with it, just eject! |

Traveler ISD ISD BH Posted - 2004.08.06 06:44:00 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1721 Gfx speed up: Turrets on entities and ships other than yourself are only visible when ships are "looked at" ( using Look At command ) or after they open fire. Boosters on ships that are not your own are also only fitted when ship is looked at.
Fixed: Unrenting a office kills all the corp jobs in the station without a warning.
Fixed: POS - Corp Member Hangers do Not appear in List when Empty.
Allow repackaging of items in corp hangar.
When scooping drones, other ships targeting them would will loose the target lock now.
NPC entities that give a kill bonus should now only give half the bonus when they are part of an agent mission. Testing: 1. Ensure that pirates not involved in agent missions still give out the full bounty. Kill one at an asteroid belt or stargate and make sure you get it paid out to you properly when you kill one. 2. Ensure that pirates involved in agent missions only give out half as much bounty. Get yourself an agent mission and kill a pirate and make sure you get the bounty but only half as much as the entity says it should give in its "show info" window.
