I currently have one R&D agent I'm working for (about to add 2 more) and building standings with that agent, but I'm not with the corp. Still at 0 after 3 weeks. I have social skills up to 3 and still nothing.
Does running R&D missions not affect corp standings? Am I going to have to run other missions types for this corp to increase standings?

Missions for r&d agents give extra research points (daily allowance) towards buying datacores, plus count towards more storyline missions.
I dont know how the standings work on which r&d agents are available.
I think you need either personal or corp (as in your corporation) standings.
eg I have facional standing of 7.36 with Caldari but looking at ishukone lvl 3 ql 15 r&d agents I see that the agent with 2.75 requirement is unavailable, but everthing less is. I have personal standings of 1.36 with connections which is well below this figure. Its a lvl 3 agent I'm looking at and my corp standing is 2.24 (2.24 might be enough for next lower agent, lvl 3 ql -15), ie my corp mates have run a good number of missions etc and are liked by Ishukone. I'm guessing this corp standing is used when your personal standing is less.

you almost got it.
Using your example above, here is how it works. You have a 7.86 standing with Caldari State, this will allow you to run any non-r&d agent with ishukone. But in order to get that level 3 agent you, not your corp, have to have a standing of 2.75 with ishukune. For R&D agents you have to use the corp standings that the agent belongs to, not faction standings.

Last time I looked, an R & D agent actually had two standing requirements needed. They needed the usual standing based on the agent's rating and quality, but faction standing counted for this. You, personally, had to have standing with the agent's corp exactly 2 points less than this, and faction standing did not count. Simply, you need 6.0 standing to use a L4 Q0 agent. If this is an Ishukone R & D agent, you can use him if you have 6.0+ standing with Ishukone, or 6.0+ standing with the Caldari State and 4.0+ standing with Ishukone.

That doesn't match my standings.
7.36 with Caldari
1.36 with Ishukone
2.24 my corps standing with Ishukone
The lvl 3 ql 15 r&d agent needs standing of 2.75 and is unavailable.
The next r&d agent lower is lvl 3 ql -15 and is available.
If I take my standings with Ishukone and add 2 points I get 1.36 + 2.0 = 3.36, ie more than enough for the lvl 3 ql 15 (2.75 standing requirement) r&d agent mentioned, but this is unavailable. Suggest error in that theory.
If I take my personal standings of 1.36 with Ishukone, the lvl 3 ql -15 r&d agent is going to have a much higher standing requirement than 1.36.
I mentioned the corp standing of 2.24 to Ishukone as its a figure which is visable, and its possibly in the right range to fit the availability of r&d agents from ishukone. If it has an effect I dont know, but its value is about the right range.
