Hi!
Please, tell me. I couldn't find the info...
What were the general stats of the different turrets, I'm thinking about dmg and how fast they track.
E.g. the minmatar close up turrets I've heard do ok dmg, and have the best tracking.
So, please, I someone got a full overview it would be great. Hybrid, laser and the minmatar variant. Both the close-up-versons and the long ones.

Amarr > Lasers
Short Range: Pulse laser > Best range for the short range guns, highest raw damage
Long Range: Beam laser > excellent range, again high raw damage
Lasers mainly cause EM damage with a bit of thermal. Good against shields, not so against armour
Minmatar > Projectiles
Short Range: Autocannons > good fall off range, so can stay further out and still cause good damage. a frigate equipped with tech II autocannons can orbit out of stasis webifier range
Long Range Artillery (howitzer) > Excellente range, good alpha strike, not so great DPS
projectiles have the ability to switch damage types by using different ammo. So they can cause EM, thermal, kinetic and explosive. Also the only weapon system that can cause 3 different types of damage at the same time
Gallente > Hybrid / drones
Short Range: Blasters > best short range damage, very low effective range though
Long Range: Railguns > longest range, average DPS
Hybrids cause kinetic and thermal damage.
Caldari > missiles / hybrid
Short Range: (frigate size / cruiser size / battleship size) Rockets / heavy assault missiles / torpedos
long range: Standard / heavy / cruise
Missile ships can switch damage types by loading different missile types. Some ships have a damage bonus to a specific type of missile (kinetic). Missiles have travel time, in a fleet battle the target, or indeed your ship may well be destroyed before your missiles have hit
Even though caldari and gallente use hybrid weapons most of the ships are geared towards missiles for caldari, and drones for gallente
All races have ships that break the norm for that race, but in general that is how they line up -----------------------------------------------

And dont forget the fact that mimatar weapons dont use cap.
You should 9.9999 out of 10 times go with the weapon class that the ship has bonusses for (like when you fly amarr you should use lasers (long or short range is up to you)

The practical implications of these characteristics are that Amarr are the "sit still and PWN them regardless of how the puny things try to orbit and escape you" race, while Gallente are the "get in real damn close and unload buckets of antimatter at point blank range before they kill you" race. Minmatar are the "control the battlefield and engage at whatever range is least favorable to the enemy, because my guns will do good damage regardless of range or angular velocity" race. Caldari, well, they're good at tanking.

One more point that Joe forgot that's worth mentioning. If a missile can reach the target it will ALWAYS hit. This of course is not true for any turret. If you actually do any damage depends on other factors.

Minmatar are the only race that can do 3 damage types from ONE turret 
Minny can actually deal all 4 damage types as can caldari by using "rainbow" damage and having their launchers/turrets loaded with different ammo types.
