I believe this topic has been aired before and the pro's and con's evaluated. However this is a thorn in my side continually because of my work rota. I work offshore in the North Sea on a 2 weeks away and 3 weeks at home rota. So everytime I'm ready to go back to work I have to try and get the longest skill I can into training. This isn't always possible as I'm sure most would agree, so training time is lost and frustration builds. Is there any way we can get a training queue set up for maybe 5 or 6 levels to cover my rota problem and to help those going on holiday or any other reason they may be away from their computer for a while. I'm sure if the queue was limited in some way to prevent abuse it would be of benefit to most pilots at some time or other.

Edited by: Emporors Champian on 15/02/2009 12:16:15 i agree fully... a 24 hour que is as lame as not having one....
let us set a skill and you set a second skill and the second skill will say que skill or awaiting primary skill.
having to wait till your within 24 hour grace period is about as R e t a r d e d as wanting to taste lead by firing it into your mouth with a 45 desert eagle.

the 24 hour skill queue would work just fine if you plan out your time home.
if you didn't read thru the dev blog carefully you will miss the key part. "As long as every skill starts before 24hours"
anything longer will benefit the character farmers.
and the only ones to truly benefit from this skill queue is people who log in every single day.

I don't think you know what you're talking about at all.
You can queue up a short skill and a month long skill after it with the skill queue.

I don't think either of you know what you are talking about. You have to set the skill queue up within 24 hrs of your current skill ending. For example, a 7d skill will require you to login between day 6 and day 7 to set up a queue. If you set it up with 23 hrs left and you set a 2 hr skill, you can't add another skill until you are within 24 hrs of the 2 hr sill being complete, so you would have to wait another hour. It's really a ******ed system but better than nothing I guess.

The queue
The skill training system we came up with allows you to queue skills that will start training in the next 24 hours. You can enter in up to 50 skills in a queue, as long as they all start training within 24 hours. This leaves room to start a skill that will take 6 hours, followed with one that takes 12 to complete. With only 18 hours of training prepared, the queue still has room to start another skill.

This is correct. It is almost as good as an unlimited queue and much better than a queue limited to 2 or even 5 skills. It lets us clean up all those 6 hour skills much more easily. While an unlimited queue would be nice, it's clear CCP won't do it and this is a good start. To the OP, you need only save a 2 week skill to train while you are away. With the skill queue this should be easier to find. |
