Edited by: Korben Allahn on 06/08/2004 19:07:57 A couple of nights ago I was zooming the belts in Ouelietta with my modded Incursus when I came across an Exequeror. The pilot's name was Mailman Stormreaver, and he was mining into a timed can named "mailbox". I approached him with my burners running and he just kept mining Jaspet. I parked my ship about 75m from his, and mine away he did. He was Federal Gallentean: That makes Jaspet mining in Intaki space without Intaki presence/permissions mineral poaching.
So I locked him and scrambled him. He started moving, So i began orbiting at 500 and pounding his hull with my blasters. Within a minute, his 4-5mil cruiser was no more. I grabbed his canister and let him leave with his life, watching his pod warp away. I got his miner 2s, a drone he never got to launch, and a few other choice items, including around 1500 Medium Antimatter ammo.
So I warp to Ouel 1 and park to wait out my timer. About 10 minutes later Mailman comes back in screaming in local that he'll pay 2 mil to anyone who will help him kill me . He was more than a little upset that he'd lost the ship to an Incursus. So after a bit he warps to the planet, just as I was leaving. I warp back to accept the challenge and I see he's in a Tristan and had warped in at 60km. He was not pleased with the speed of my ship, and had trouble staying out of my range, but his missiles dropped my shields and I warped to base to retrieve my Tristan, telling him to stay where he was so I can accept the challenge of an even duel.
Well, Mailman apparently thought that i was still aggroed because he thought he could pin me between the sentries and his ship by warping after me. He must have been unpleasantly surprised, because when I undocked I saw him docking in his pod and I retrieved the contents of his canister (which included 1380 piranha missiles and another medium drone). My timer, of course, had long worn off, so the guns saw Mailman as the aggressor. He started telling me how ****ed off he was in local and he proceeded to recycle his iteron and another ship, and everything he owned, then sold the mins, then donated the money. I asked him if he was drunk. He said no.
So I'm patrolling around again and Mailman is sitting in the middle of 5 rats in his pod. He'd undocked in his pod.....
Well, I was in my Incursus again so I couldn't take on 2 cruiser rats, and jumped to another belt. Mailman appeared shortly thereafter about 10k from my ship.
SO I podded him. Surely he was bloodporting......
It takes real talent to lose a cruiser, a frigate, and a pod in three seperate incidents within the space of 2 hours, especially against the same 80k ISK frigate, directly or indirectly, all three times. His total losses came out to be around 7-8 mil ISK including what little mining he'd managed to do.
Thus the cost for mineral poaching .
Edit: Homophone.
I keep a teddy bear in my pod with me. A teddy bear with sharp teeth, massive claws, and a pinache for eating the flesh of podded corpses. I call him "Fuzzy". |

I see that cruiser has 800m3 drone space..
He must've been a serious noob to not launch them or have any decent ones onboard

Yep, although an Incursus with blasters is pretty mean, if the man had even had a load of medium drones, the original poster would have been toast.
Still, it was a nice story, better than the OMG I PWNED j00111one crap some people feel the need to post. _______________________________________________ Eris Discordia: On the scale of funny and constructive it scores low, real low. |

Also, it takes some balls to attack a cruiser with a frigate (non Interceptor, even), even though the cruiser was kitted for mining. _______________________________________________ Eris Discordia: On the scale of funny and constructive it scores low, real low. |

Haha that was a great little story, frigates versus cruisers are ok in general, I tend to avoid Gallente though, bit keen on the old drones . ------------------------------------------------ I've always owned Kehmor, cheap as chips off Ebay

I agree with muffmaster, tho you he did take his chances not knowing if this cat had drones... I would have had drones and sent that frigate packing super fast...
oh and as far as challenges go, the poster seems to find it ok to attack an unarmed ship, but calls in an unfair fight when his victim show up in a tristan...

Just to respond to the last two carebears....
My Incursus is always fitted with what I need to escape a nasty engagement, though I've become quite good at shooting down drones. However, the victim here did not deploy the drones he obviously had (they were in the salvage).
And I fully acknowledge that my ganking an unarmed vessel is "unfair", and I never said I had a problem with him coming back in a Tristan. There is no such thing as fair. Fair is a lie. Deal with it. I just knew what I had to do to even the odds after trying the ship I was already in, and did it....just to find out he'd dashed himself upon the rocks.
I'm very strongly of the opinion that if you go into unsafe space unprepared, and you get killed, the fault is not on your killer.
I keep a teddy bear in my pod with me. A teddy bear with sharp teeth, massive claws, and a pinache for eating the flesh of podded corpses. I call him "Fuzzy". |

Guys... I think you are missing the point with the Posting. It wasn't to show off, (maybe a little, but that's ok) it was to share a cool event.
I love reading stuff like this, and I hope when the day any of you get similar kills, that it will be posted.

Edited by: Cleopatera on 08/08/2004 15:18:12 You killed a cruiser set up for mining - Well done you watched the pilot of this crusier die to sentry guns after he initiated agression against you in a frigate against your frigate... and YOU warped out - Well done You Killed his pod when he was not moving or warping around or at a gate - Well done.
In conclusion, you killed a new player 3 times, and the only time he could fight back effectivly, YOU warped out. I dont quite understand why you are bragging on the forums.
P.S. dont presume a new(ish) player mining in a crusier has combat drones with him or can even use heavy drones. We all learn from our mistakes, they were his. Now we can only hope Korben Allahn will learn not to post such pointless crap on the forums in the future. ------------------------------------------- Voted "Best" |

when did i say he didnt have drones?? i said, as a general comment, when sobody in a frigate kills a crusier that is mining, dont presume he has combat drones or can use them. in this case i feel this was his big misate and cost him his ship. his loss and the killers gain.
i just want to clear it up, im not against killing helpless newbies in crusiers, just i AM against bragging about easy kills on these forums when they arnt really worth bragging about. If he killed an Apoc id think it was cool, but a crusier (lvl 2 one??) in the hands of a new player is not challenging, even for a frigate. The fact that he didnt warp out as soon as the incursus sat next to him is a good sign he had no idea what was comming. Not to the last poster, but the one before it.
Try bearing down on a Tristan starting at 60km away without the use of a MWD or any form of shield/armor subsystems and see how it works for you.
I got to 10km on him but was at 45% armor when I did. I still had some salvage in my hold, so I jumped and retrieved a missile ship.
I didn't just run when I saw his Trist. I fought it for a minute, but when I realized I was taking too much damage I did the intelligent thing and went for the appropriate tool for the job.
Also, don't forget that Mailman could have easily avoided each death by simply thinking things out.

I keep a teddy bear in my pod with me. A teddy bear with sharp teeth, massive claws, and a pinache for eating the flesh of podded corpses. I call him "Fuzzy". |

you can easily take down 2-3 cruiser rats in an incursus |

Edited by: Korben Allahn on 09/08/2004 18:37:39 Pandora, until this morning I couldn't even use MWDs.
I myself have been away for 6 or 7 months and was very much a n00b in an indie before I came back, and have been here for about 3-4 weeks now. So if you really want to analyze the n00bishness of it all, this was n00b-on-n00b violence.
Edit: I have under 1 million Skillpoints.
