I've been amassing quite a stockpile of minerals in the last little bit and I'm tempted to sell right now, but with the patch and Hulkageddon right around the corner I've been holding back. Looking for input on whether to pull the trigger now or to sell later in the week for a possibly greater windfall. |

Every time a patch is released with game-changing effects in a set of markets, MD speculates on it. I've never known them to be wrong - I don't buy into speculations but this is not groundless, people here have been speculating heavily for a reason and they mostly know what they're doing. |

Prices will definitely bottom out this week before the changes in mineral supply have even happened. Sell sell sell. |

The trick right now is to sell just before everyone else does. Emphasis on JUST BEFORE. Posted on main because I'm not a coward like the rest of you. |

It all depends on if you wanted a short term speculation opportunity or want to wait till the claimed patch minerals shortages really show. Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity

This. If you are playing the market, its a good time to sell off. If you are playing the economy it is only going to get better. |

People have had over a month of notice about the mineral changes and Hulkageddon. So everyone mines like crazy, including people who don't normally mine hoping to cash in. They flood the market and prices bottom out.
Will they recover to their original or higher levels? That depends on how agressive everyone is for Hulkageddon. A glut of lost ships will dry up that mineral flood quickly and return prices to where they were prior to the dump, if not higher.
On the other hand, if hulkageddon is kinda 'meh' this year, mineral prices might never return to the previous levels.
That's right, you heard it here folks. It is in the miners' best interest if hulkageddon is extra bloody this year. I love EVE economics. |

There may be some truth in this. I'm looking at the Star Map in game with the Industry Development Index checked and there's quite a few big light blue spots in null sec. Even Deklein has 2 Industry 5s and an Industry 4 in the top corner. Who says Goons don't like miners. |

Those alliance mined mins in majority won't see the markets so that part of supply could be disregarded (in terms of effecting market prices). Surplus could be sold replaced by lo-ends. btw Didn't the goons need to build 1800 tornados ;)?
Furthermore, i find it hard to believe that smalltime miners are stocking up. Players do like to see a reward after a night of mining. Smart mining directors or whatever should've done that though, but again, the psychology is that they see high-market prices and take the immediate cashout. F.i. If you completed a mining op, and yield 100m at current prices, do you really think non-market experienced players say 'wait a parsec, let's wait a bit and sell it for a whopping 110m in x days"?
I for one find it all very amusing, people don't realize how fragile the market is. To give an example, in one particular market hub the difference between 6 and 5isk trit is a mere daily volume. For me personally i'm going to educate myself in trying to profit from a collapsing market ;)
