I'm playing this game for a while, and finally i can't hold this question.
Why there's so many dumb complexity? Who needs it? Who implemented it? For what reasons?
I'm trying to find explanations, but i can't. Maybe community could help me.
1. Why, when you sit in WH you MUST spam scan every minute at least? Why should i spam this button instead of playing the game, i pay for? Who needs it? Who decided to make it work THIS way? Can i know his reasons?
2. Why, when you put ore in rorqual, you have to do like 15 clicks, on every compression job? Why it's not 1 click? My PC is powerful enough to calculate which bpo is required to compress ore in cargo bay, but i still have to do those 15 clicks (i hope its only 15). Who needs it? Who decided to make it work THIS way? Can i know his reasons?
3. Why, there's sov system upgrades that don't work for years, and those items are still ingame? Who needs them? Why are they still broken (for years!)? Why there's still no simple text notification, clarifying their state?
4. Why sov system upgrade volumes set to values, which makes impossible to get them into 1 jump freighter? Who needs me to make second run for single upgrade? Was it really needed? Who needs it? Who decided to make it work THIS way? Can i know his reasons?
5. Why there's ore compression tool, and no mineral compression tool? Why people have to use gas cloud harvesters to transport minerals? Was it the one and the only possible way to minerals transportation problem? Who decided to make it work THIS way? Can i know his reasons?
Theese days i see it became popular to call eve "player friendly" for CCP staff. I understand, IPO is strictly required for financial reasons, but positive dynamics in playerbase is strictly required for successfull IPO. But be honest. Eve is NOT player friendly. And not a single "all brand-new noob-ship model" can change it. Problem is not in ibis 3D-model or even textures.
Problem is in game mechanics, that makes eve more like job then a game. Dull job, with a requirement of 4 windows with alts for a single process.
Maybe its time to make EVE really user friendly?

I'm all for simplifying things... but "effort" still needs to be made in order to get better stuff (like SOV upgrades). Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

No one is forcing you to do all these things. Want to have good pvp time? join reds vs blue; have some war; do some low sec roam; suicide some hulks.
To answers yours dumb questions its because devs didnt have time to fix everything yet. Yes many thing are broken and they are repairing them as fast as they can. Also there is something like art department you know? They cant repair things but they can create nice stuff like that new hair your bitching about. CCP really please dont use Upgraded, Limited, Experimental-áand Prototype in item names. It sounds like the item is actually worse than basic meta 1 item. Use Calibrated, Enhanced, Optimized and Upgraded. Its really easy to understand that the item is better than meta 1 and its also in alphabetic order. |

Eve is not a PVP game, though PVP would be possible. PVP is not a depending on game mechanics, but on how players do it. The issue everything is about is balance. As long as 2 rookie ships are able to kill a battleship which is unable to hit them, PVP in the sense of what PVP really is, will not be possible.
If you want PVP in a way, that everybody does it with a smile, youd have to rebalance the whole game. I got a job, i have to work and cant play 20 hrs a day - though id really love to do so. In that case i have to work like 2 weeks in game to buy e.g. a Redeemer and 2 punks with 2 rookie frigates can kill that ship in 5 minutes and i get an insurance paid which equals teh value of 1/2 a t2 bomber. Why should i do it then?
The other way is to do that, what those no-brainers ingame call "PVP". Sitting with 10 other idiots at a gate waiting for the one fool in 5 hrs, that is too slow and then pose in foroum how cool they are. What they dont see, is what you see. It is absolutely stupid to do that. And i passed about 50 of such camps alone in the last week without those punks could ever see me.
Eve has not a PVP possibility, but a gank possibility, thats all. Though those player with honor and interest in real PVP might exist, i never met one. Those who claim "i am pirate" or "i am PVP" simply only then fight, when they will win securely. If there is a slight chance, that they could lose 1 ship, they dont engage. So all you can do is: traps, glitches, bugs and exploits to get the chance on a killshot.
In real world a battleship would kill 2 frigates with a smile, because their tiny guns couldnt even cause a lil harm to it. In Eve 2 rookie frigs kill a battleship with a smile, because a battleship has the same armor as a frigate and cant shoot small targets.
This is why its Eve. So we have to live with it. |

As PVP says Player versus Player, this is not what you find in Eve, though it could be done. Eve is more TIgOPF - Ten Idiots ganking One Poor Fool.
Just think up: You play Battlefield or Counter Strike and all servers are set that 10 players are on one side, and you have to fight them all, but each time you are killed, you loose 10 or more % of what you have been acquiring before. Would you then log into that server to do so?
If the chance would be that you also can get 9 friends to equal the chances - yes then it starts to be interesting. But if that is Eve these nobrainers simply log off and make a new server where they can play 10 vs 1 to remain successful. And what has this to do with PVP? Thought it would be possible, it isnt done. And thats it like it is in Eve. A waste of time, resources and fun equaling in an activity for sociopathic exploiters with no interest at PVP but in riskless killing. So this is not PVP, it is that what i call TIgOPF.

Just to answer before you ask. It could easily be solved to be PVP by setting the fittings on the ships in a way that a solo player could also fight versus 10 idiot-gangs because a bigger vessel could compensate his lack of friends. But as long as 2 rookie frigs can kill a battleship nobody will fly it - because he will securely loose.
In that way CCP forces the players to do what they do now - TIgOPF. Cheap ships in masses, affordable to loose and only fight when win is secure. and this is not PVP, it is nonsense.

Um ... that's still player vs player. PvP doesn't mean 'even fights' it means 'humans fighting humans'. The other half of that, making friends, is also player vs player where you're fighting with your opponents to have more friends on the field than they do. It's still PvP, even if you get out-played by the other player before the fight starts (by them bringing more friends in better ships).
Eve in and of itself is PvP, the fight to do better starts when you log into the game and start finding allies and enemies, not when the first targets get locked up. |

To be honest some type of mineral compression would be nice. We have been making 425mm rail guns and/or gas harvesters for to long to just move some ore around. Giant Mineral Ingots would be nice but a little time consuming to make but not as time consuming as making 500 unites of 425mm rail guns. |
