Edited by: Omber Zombie on 10/09/2009 13:12:40 So, I just got back from Iceland and one of the main topics I raised was 'Whatever Happened to the Industrial Expansion?"
The basic conclusion of the discussion was that CCP were looking to include industry/market upgrades in all of it's expansions and has asked the CSM to come up with a list of both major and minor additions to give them as a basis to work from. This thread is intended to help gather that list for the CSM to pass on to to CCP.
This is a list of feature requests, not people deciding how things should work.
e.g. - Contract API = good Contract API should include all sales per item blah blah blah = bad
This list is purely for market related ideas, a separate thread will be in the industry forums regarding industry related ideas.
some possible ideas already thrown up/discussed by CSM/CCP are:
* Contract API * Loan creation/enforcement * Stockmarket (incl. share trading) * Corporate Financial Statements * Banking Tools (ability for players to create their own banks inside eve rather than as 3rd party tools)
please add your ideas here and once a list of a decent size is compiled, it will be forwarded to CCP via CSM. ----------------------

Could the 'Cancel Order' option be moved further away from the 'Modify Order' option in the right click menu, please. I modify orders frequently, very occasionally I cancel them by mistake. I'd like to make it harder to make that mistake.

Courier contract size limits should have been removed a long time ago.
Something that would help facilitate a more robust secondary market would be the ability to lockdown isk in wallets, and audit log containers, similar in the way blueprints are locked and not even the CEO can remove them. This would open up new avenues to secure IPOs, and allow more complex corporate structures without opening yourself up to any single director wiping the wallet and hangars clean.
Give me a day to brainstorm and I'll be back with more ideas.

The whole method of mineral compression for transportation needs to be revisited. Buying minerals to build modules for transport, then refining the modules is more than a bit absurd. Compressed veldspar is actually very nice for compress trit, but because it is mostly mined in empire, where a rorqual can't get to, its highly impractical to compress veldspar.

1. Discourage frequent Buy/Sell Order modification by 0.01 isk increments
2. Short Selling (Opposite of Margin Trading)
3. I would like to see 'Futures' contracts be introduced.
4. Related to (2) and (3), introduce the concept of debt and credit.

An actual stock market with the daily up's and down's.
Being able to sell/trade stocks (which are public, since now its more just like a private corp/company)
Corp's can register to be private or public with number of shares which can be purschased via market like window with a graph with cash flows in and out for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 5 years etc.
Shares being at a value where its based on assets, production, liquid assets etc. (so people cannot be scammed easily)
and maybe incorporate this into COSMOS so this can be also done online via web interface. This will come in handy when you read the IPO's business model and such.

A stock market so they can be traded rather than just depending on the current holder to send you the shares.
The ability to choose which order to buy from than the game making you buy from the lowest
A real working loan contract, where the collateral is locked (like a BPO) and the payment terms are set.
A real working banking system IN GAME.
All of these 3rd party things that are done out of game with the markets, needs to be able to be done in game. Banks, Stock Markets, Bonds, Loans, etc... I should not have to websurf and excel warrior everything by constantly alt-tabbing out of the game to do all of these

CCP went to the trouble of adding "short" values to contacts (1.1 Billion) how about an auto formatting Value bar when entering ISK.
Example #1 - Transferring ISK to someone you start entering or copy/paste a value and it reads above the input text field "1.1 Billion" exactly like contracts.
Example #2 - Creating a sales order for a Raven, you push in 87,290,499.99 it shows above that input field text field "87.3 Million"

While this might not be directly related to "market stuff", it would help in a lot of (MD related) places:
- Configurable API access, i.e. let me create an API key which allows to see my personal transcactions, but not my corp transactions (given I have the rights for it), my personal journal, but not my corp journal etc.
Basically, when creating a custom API key, I envision some kind of form like
[ ] Wallet Transaction [ ] Personal [ ] Corporation
[ ] Assets [ ] Personal [ ] Corporation
[...]
[ ] Killmails [ ] Personal [ ] Corporation
I guess this would help auditors doing their job because people could give them access to the needed data only, not their whole alliance (given you happen to be a director of an executor corp, for example). -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

I disagree as well, Contract prices have no history which makes it good for the seller. If an item sells for 200 million, then no one will buy when its 300 million.

May I ask why? Just curious to see what you feel is so good about them being contract only items.
My feeling is, if it is an item and can be sold, it should be able to be listed on the market. That would not prevent you from still using contracts if that's what you prefer.

Specialized jetcans that can be anchored, and will not disintegrate in two hours. A compact (3000 m3) item that expands to jetcan size when deployed and therefore anchorable.
Might clean up a lot of belts, when one specialized jetcan would be almost equivalent to 7 GSC's. Maybe limit the number to one or two per corp or pilot per belt.

Some form where economy of scale provides a benefit like:
- an advantage for industrialists to band together in a corp other than central blueprint availebility, perhaps by using corp standings to influence production overhead costs - make producing a single batch of 200 items cheaper than 10 batches of 20 - splitting manufacturing rights (can create factory runs, can cancel (and see) own factory runs, factory overseer (access to all active corp factory jobs) - something similar for pos based production - same for research - make the corp trader thing mean something, maybe diversify like manufacturing. - scheduled contracts (pick up and/or deliver x every thursday / first saturday of the month (for x times))

introduce a form of billing option, perhaps trough an contract interface
like a contract: corp (x) will attack (y/n) corp (y) as long as corp (x/y/z) pays some amount every week trough an automatcally issued bill (billing automatically ended is war is made/dropped, contract failed if either party fails to uphold terms (list breach reason)
or a contract for standings, soverignty access, area access/denial (stay at/away from x and we pay you amount)

Since i have stepped down from trading i will not ask for much.Th only thing that allways annoyed me to hell is the cancel order button.Eihter move the cancel order button down a bit instead of right under the adjust order button OR ask a verification.
I had it a numerous times where i was asked:The order is 97% below market value are you sure you want this, wich was annoying since i obviously wanted it to be that low but when i tried updating 500ish orders every week i had it a few times where orders where cancelled because of lag-misclicking.I wish at those times i did get the question if i really wanted to cancel it.

quoting this cause a Trade Hub Array would be pretty useful
tl;dr an anchorable POS array with about as much space as a SMA, requires a lot of cpu/grid so only really plausible to put on a large tower, and the main part, allows for contracts to be put up by corp/alliance/blues to facilitate trade in remote areas (i.e. wormhole space). _____________________________________________

Market Agent - Allow hire/rent of npc agent/broker in another region so you can open two market windows and not play alt meta game. Number of agents based on a skill, five agents max maybe.
Find a use for all trade goods in high/low and null, allow players to produce all trade goods in high/low and null.
Increase marginal return on courier contracts to contractor by reducing risk to contractee.
Fix smuggling, not exactly market but kinda is.
If it can be repackaged, allow it to be listed on the market.
Decentivise 0.01 isk wars by increasing cost to small moves and/or frequency.
Allow self to plastic wrap, but not double wrap to avoid recrusion probs. (would "fix" smuggling though ;) )

0. End 0.01 isk Wars!!!! Allow players to buy from ANY market listing as opposed to defaulting to the cheapest. Alternatively, use a proxy bidding system. 1. Public POS research slots! Create an option to make POS labs and assemblies available for public usage in the same way that public station facilities are available. 2. Remote POS research/manufacturing! Allow remote science and manufacturing at a POS from a distance greater than 'within solar system'. 3. Create tools for player run stores
- a. A market subsection containing a list of player run stores
- b. Ability to display a store interface (perhaps similar to a mini market interface.
- c. Ability to list store inventory
- d. Ability to place store orders
- e. other obvious store requirements
4. Create a public loan contract. It must have:
- a. Item(s)/isk available for loan or item(s)/isk requested as a loan
- b. Duration of the loan
- c. Duration of contract offer

I believe this is possible already; Right-click on the appropriate order and buy. I'm not certain if the same can be done for selling through a specific 'green' buy order, which would be nice.
Quote: 1. Public POS research slots! Create an option to make POS labs and assemblies available for public usage in the same way that public station facilities are available.
I like this idea, but is unlikely that any corp will willingly offer up unused research slots (even at 2x/3x+ public costs). They're much more likely to more aggressively ask those in NPC corps to join them.
Quote: 2. Remote POS research/manufacturing! Allow remote science and manufacturing at a POS from a distance greater than 'within solar system'.
I'm kinda surprised by this one, and agree to this suggestion if its correct; The current format defeats the long-term usefulness of skills that allow remote research and manufacturing up to regional level.
On a related note, if you *do* have those skills it would be nice to allow remote job requests to cross region boundaries (the max of 20 jumps at L4 would apply in this case).

I would love anything that let me visually identify if my orders have been 0.01 sniped.
Also, it would be nice to "add to hotbar" from a specific item's details screen. Right now you have to search for the item and add it from the results list or find it in the browser tree.

I have a suggestion that needs to be added!
You know how, when you open the market, buy orders out of range are grey and the ones in range are green?
Well, we need a second color... Personal buy and and sell orders should be highlighted blue. That way, you can quickly glance at the market and see if your orders are priced right. No more "signature .37" at the end of every order to try and track them, the blue highlighted order will be quickly visible!
I think this is an easy change that will greatly help every trader in eve. As someone with 200+ orders, if you push this through, I'll be forever grateful.

- Introduce variable taxing depending on trade volume! (will leave balancing to CCP) will create a MUCH more dynamic economy and more trading hubs.
- Probably related with the last: make empire larger! travelling must be longer, removing some links between empires may help this, mroe dynamic and changing market. WIS is an expansion which allows EVE players to wear leather and walk around stations.

I would love to see a developed stock market take hold
Banking on the other hand would be too difficult to enforce without changing major components of the game? How would you handle it? Have Concord take away sec status? Integrate it into a reformed bounty system?
IF i were to implement such a feet as a stock market or bank, the only way i could figure about going through that is from faction NPC corps. Player corps would align themselves with some sort of faction (or not if they are going to do things old school) the credit is then pulled out underneth the NPC factions name, so if someone doesnt repay NPC standings or Faction standings will change against this character.
Of course any punishment such as this would have to be restricted ie. you couldnt pull out large loans or something along that line.
ps. I would love to be able to buy NPC corp stock, might be a way to introduce more of the eve fiction into the game. Might even be able to link stocks with faction warfare activitiy which could make it more independant and in players control

Bump for relevance.
The only thing I wanted to add is something to consider for those throwing out ideas. One issue raised during previous discussions is that any feature that allows ISK to be generated out of nothing in the system (futures, banks, etc) has the potential for abuse since accounts can be nuked and consequences aren't tied to the player -- only the character. This isn't to say these can't be implemented into EVE directly, but it is a major hurdle that has to be overcome. If someone can game the system, they will.
This is just a basic idea thread though, so it's not overly important. But it still should be part of the thought process when making suggestions. Exploitable systems are bad. Options for doing new types of business or doing business better are good.

Edited by: Calipha on 11/09/2009 06:19:08 Corporation market orders that can be modified/canceled by anyone with appropriate roles.
Personal wallet & hangar divisions.
Increase courier contract size limit.
Some way to tell BPOs from BPCs at a glance.
Ability to start multiple manufacturing/research/invention jobs of the same type/parameters at once, (i.e. shift-click to select multiple BPOs/BPCs, then the available slots).
Share transactions / trading. Option to force buyback of shares.
edit: Oh, and move "cancel order" to somewhere other than right next to "modify order."

ending the .1 isk wars is something ccp should not attempt, unless they have a !very! clever alternative system in mind. just allowing buyers to choose the order to buy from would make the market worse for everyone. something people will realize almost imediatly after such a change were made.

My requests would be:
1. Allow modification of corporate orders by others in the corporation (including proper roles). 2. When browsing through the corporate orders in the market view, do not scroll to the top when a sell/buy has occured.

Thankfully I don't think anything like this will be implemented. Simply because it would make the illegitimate trade and transfer of ISK too easy.

Guys, there is a thread in S&I forum for industry related suggestions (half of the thread), could you please keep this related to trading? thanks.

Another vote for personal wallet divisions in the same way there are corp wallet divisions. Even if this was implemented as a skill:

Balance as needed, but let people pay the money if they want the ability? I'd happily do this.

1. We should be able to issue bonds or annuities in addition to shares. The bonds could pay out but not have voting rights and could be made to expire upon full payout. This could be a way of sharing payouts between alliances or corps. If the bond is held in a personal, corp or alliance wallet that is where the isk goes. They could also exist as physical items in your hangar, like plex, so you could buy, sell or trade them. They should be lockable.
2. We should have a billing contract with monthly payments, for set periods and also for unlimited periods for rents and industrial projects.
3. There needs to be a contract enforcement mechanism. For example a contract should be able to be tied to a locked item, like a BPO, and unless the terms of the contract are paid, the BPO or asset is surrendered. This would also allow voting rights on an asset if terms of a contract are not met.
4. I would like to see an alliance wallet that can be shared by corps. I would like to see 2 more alliance wallet divisions and 2 more alliance hangar divisions dedicated to alliance uses, with alliance permissions.
5. I would like to see alliance level access to POS. I would like to see alliance use of copy towers, with copies returned to corp hangar or an alliance hangar.
6. I would like to be able to use google docs in the in game browser.
7. I would like to see the creation of in game documents that can be passed around, viewed and signed and then shared and reviewed.
8. I would like to see contracts able to be made with tickets or a chip or token. Dump stuff in a special container or shrink wrap it, and sell, trade or give it away like plex. Instead of objects sitting only in your contract list, contracts are also physically stored in your hangar when you receive them and remain packaged. To redeem the items from its shrink wrapped container, just process the ticket. This will allow you to sell or trade courier contracts for example at the destination. For ship replacement you can simply issue a ticket with the value of the ship type that was lost, and either give them cash or a new ship by handing the tickets to the FC. This way items can be delegated to others without risking a wallet division. also...
I will kill you. |

I'll second or third this or whatever as the single best idea i've seen to date to take eve market to a new level! I mean seriously eve's already a great market simulator add the ability to make corps public entities traded in empire and the game changes drastically, imagine if corps not only had to deal with the ability to take investments but also financial flux from wars etc, impacting peoples investments and in turn impacting the corps/alliances cash flow.

I have some suggestions, a few mundane and one far out one.
1. Let a Player Character have several wallets. Perhaps even have a skill that makes this possible, something like 'Advanced Savings Accounts'. Also allow other characters to give money to the extra wallets by having an extra drop down on the 'Give Money' dialog box.
2. Allow characters to set up a sort of bill pay system to give money periodically to someone else. Like if I wanted to give my alt a million isk a week, I could get up the process, and every week the money would be transferred.
3. Allow money to be transferred via an api call. Such a functionality would have to be enabled in game, and you would be able to press a button to change the money transferring api, set permissions on which entities can actually receive cash (with both a whitelist and a blacklist), how much cash can be transferred, can a transfer proceed with you afk or would you have to log in and give permission.

- move positions of modify/cancel order in relation to each other - highlighting of personal sell orders - auto-discount/block on sell orders to corp/militia members or enemies - options..

The following things I would like changed...
1. On the 'My Order' or 'Corporation Order' tab, clicking on the item takes you to the market detail. Clicking on it does nothing.
2. When viewing market orders, there should be a way to clearly indicate which order is yours. Green indicate orders within your area, so why not yellow or something to indicate your order in the sell or buy category?

Since the OP says "industry/market"...
I'd like to see moon goo, including the seriously rare stuff, begin to be included in loot drops in level 4 and 5 missions, high level/difficult complexes and in rat poop *everywhere* in 0.0, as in hauler spawns.
Sure, I realize the winter expansion with it's emphasis on "developing" industry and how it relates to Sov may actually address the supply of moon goo in some way(s) -- but that's still only relevant to where "SOV" is an issue (at least in it's currently understood context), meaning 0.0 space.
I want to see moon goo begin to trickle in (note, I said "trickle", not "flood") from lots of sources, rather than just 0.0, because it would stimulate industry and markets everywhere in EvE.

1-Can we get an option to disable the little pop-up tooltip that comes up when you hover your mouse over a market order? It is annoying and superfluous and consumes resources.
2-You know how you can spin your mousewheel to adjust the price field of an order or contract? I'd like to have one or two (configurable) keystroke modifiers available to change the "snap" rate of the mousewheel.
If I was holding Ctrl the price might snap by .50 isk per blip on the wheel, and have a 2nd modifier with a 2nd snap option. For example I could set it so if I was holding Ctrl-space the mouse wheel would jig the price by 1.73 with each notch. If you wanted to set it to adjust by .0937 isk per blip that would be fine as well--however you wanted the snap to behave would be configurable in the settings.
3-I would like more differentiation between autocomplete fields, and a larger cache, plus the ability to remove bogus entries from the list.
I've discovered there seems to be a limit of about 200-300 items in the autocomplete list for contract destinations and descriptions, and they seem share the same cache list. Could someone take a look at this?
4-In courier contracts the Collateral and Reward boxes are always pre-populated with "0.0" and you always have to backspace this out to put in your own numbers.
Could we get these 2 boxes initially displayed without a number in them so I don't have to hit backspace 6 times on every single courier job I write ever?
5-I want to be able to right-click and accept contracts right out of the list without opening them first. I don't want to open every single corp contract, really.
6-I want to be able to right-click on market and non-market items (as hotlinked or in a hanger) and "Get Open Contracts".
7-I want to View Market Details and Get Open Contracts directly from the Compare Tool.
8-I would like the "search" button on page 3 of a courier contract to estimate the number of jumps from the origin to the destination. Often I am drop-shipping from point B to point C and don't know the number of jumps until I finish the contract.
9-How about moving "Cancel Order" to the bottom of the market order right-click context menu?
10-Still waiting to see my own orders highlighted in the Market Details screen with the ability to right-click and modify/delete them.
11-Remote stacking
12-I'd like to be able to add a bonus for early completion to public courier contracts. Just add a couple fields and the logic so I can say "If job completed within X hours give an extra y% of the reward as bonus" and have it happen automatically.
13-24 hours is just too long for some jobs, I would also like 3, 6, and 12 hour completion windows for courier jobs.
14-I run margin traders. I need a column with data next to each buy order indicating how much is in escrow and how much is remaining on margin.
15-I need to see exactly what is in demand at a given station.
To this end, in the Market screen under the Browse tab, add a check box for "Show Only Needed." Have it behave like "Show Only Available" except with buy orders.
16-I'd like to be able to right-click on a vessel and choose "Strip" and have all the mods drop off without affecting the rigs.
This would also be available remotely like repackaging.
17-Similar to request 14.
I've been placing margin orders from a corp wallet division. There's no visual indicator that I can see for "additional Isk to cover" for the corp orders page. This is a bit of a problem. I really need to see how much is in escrow and/or potentially due on margin from each division pleas
18-Auction contracts assignable to a specific corp please.
19-When working with Corporate Assets remotely, in Deliveries, I would like a right click option for "Deliver to: My hanger" with a confirmation box.
TBH I'm a little dejected that CCP doesn't already have a clear list of these needed improvements without having to ask us for ideas. Kinda late in the game to be "hey guys what do you want?"

I'd like some filters in the Orders and Transactions tabs of my wallet.
Ideally I'd like to see the market quickbar there, and that one click on an item would filter so you only see orders/transactions on that item.
It would also be nice to be able to divide the orders view by region.
I also support these previously mentioned ideas: -marked own orders in market view and ability to modify right there. -role(s) to modify corp member's corporate orders -Personal wallet divisions tied to a new skill limiting how many you can have. -hirable market agents to view the markets of other regions.

() Shared corp buy/sell orders, such that I cannot only redirect the flow of money towards/away from the corp wallet but my corp mates can also adjust the pricing if I am hindered. For security reasons add a corp order overseer role or sth.
() Not nearly as important, but neat: batch selling. Allow me to mark several items, right-click sell, bring up a screen that tells me the total sell price and that overall I am selling at +-xy% of the regional average.

On the Orders page, the buy or sell tables. It would be nice to have any one of these three options,
* "folders" like the quick bar - Though the least useful IMO since orders come and go. * A tree view of my buy and sell orders that mimics the regular market view. * Or, my prefrence, additional fields in the table I may use to sort by Group, Category, etc, such as minerals, ships, ammunition, etc etc

-Separate delivery bay divisions for each wallet division.
-Raise the courier contract limit to 1,000 items and something approaching reasonable volume, like 700K M3
-highlighting of corp and personal orders in the market window
-Ability to modify corp mates orders through the corp orders window
-allow us to turn off the auto-refresh of the orders view like we can for the market view
-search box for the orders view like we now have for hangers and cargo bays
-the ability to auto-repeat contracts (for an added fee) for BPCs that have the exact same Type/ME/PE/Runs attributes
-The ability to turn off local in Jita completely. not just turn blink off and minimize it to ignore it, but the ability to place a SOLAR SYSTEM in your block list. I like to log certain chats I'm in. I dont like logging a megabyte of scam spam text every time I pop into Jita to buy something. How is this market related? It frees up our block lists and contract block lists and also makes using Jita easier, and would also slightly reduce network load in Jita since the server wouldnt have to relay all that text to anyone who just blocked Jita.
-Make the contract interface more intuitive. Make it useable more like an expanded, advanced version of the market, where you can see EVERY item, not just the items that are allowed on the market.
-contract window filters for blueprints by ME/PE range, minimum run count, and original/copy.

Edited by: Brinkken on 20/09/2009 15:35:23 Banks need some kind of in-game implementation if they are ever to be viable. Set them up similar to corps but explicitly as banks. Give them the ability to set loss prevention protocols, like requiring two or more authorizations to allow any employee (even the CEO) access to cash. Then do all the bank telling through ATMs that banks purchase and maintain at stations.
This allows banks to be more secure and profitable than handing out cash willy nilly to employees. It also provides the possibility of regional markets where multiple banks can compete for market share since individual banks' influence is limited by their ATM coverage. Fraud is still possible (as it should be), but banks should be inherently more secure than corps.
And how about a "credit history?" It could be as elaborate as you care to make or as simple as an e-bay style thumbs up/down ratings system. It would reveal a player's longevity (by # of ratings) and general tendency to "play nice" (by positive/neg feedback). Security rating is sort of like this, but player feedback would be more meaningful and players could say why they gave a guy a thumbs down if they chose. I think a tool like that would help stimulate lending and create a better niche for banks.
A finance/banking skill group would be cool if banks ever got off the ground. Like leadership but for banks.
Also, not just for banks but in general, some accounting tools in-game would be nice. Like a basic balance sheet or statement of cash flows. Somewhere I can see my inventory grouped by item, without respect to what planet it is on. i.e. tell me I have 100 of module A, not just that I have 5 at this station, 6 at this one, 4 at another, etc.

Edited by: Anas Damona on 21/09/2009 00:47:12 Some ideas I'd like to see:
Central Bank: Minimum deposit of eg 10 billion ISK, pays out automatically at a fixed (or slightly varying) rate. Player banks could then tie their interest rates to the central rate, giving the consumer some peace of mind.
War Bonds: Offered by the four empires, and requiring high faction standing. Better payout than the central rate, but longer/fixed term.
Public Companies (Suggested earlier in this thread): Again, these could be tied to NPC corps, with 'good practice' providing LPs or faction items for corp members. If there was a non-ISK incentive to running a good business, then maybe scamming would be less appealing. |

This is the single most useful thing I've seen here so far. Regional data are nice, but there's no way to tell anything about sales in a specific system.

Tired of having to dig through contracts to find these
I was going to voice out to allow for my search filters on contracts to not reset itself or be savable every time i right click to FIND CONTRACTS WITH ITEMS, or alternatively allow me to go back to the "main" contract previously requested (i.e; non auto-updated) results page. Points below will hopefully explain why I italicised those two words.
I understand that one of the already available solutions/methods is to simply type in and specify name of the item you want, click GET CONTRACTS and it'll maintain the same filters. Once done, clear the ITEM TYPE (EXACT) or DESCRIPTION then click GET CONTRACTS again to complete my manual, pseudo process of returning to the previous "main search results" page complete with the other initially specified filters. Now, why am I contradicting myself? To me this means (in layman terms; technical amateur here) that I'm possibly contributing to the performance load by requesting for results twice, thrice in a short span of time to go about my business.
That aside and more in direct relation to what I quoted, I and speaking for myself only, believe that Trebor's suggestion requires less work and is easier to implement into the client, whilst at the same time fulfilling my needs to a large extent from a trader's and/or end-buyer's perspective.
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON CURRENT CONTRACT SYSTEM:
In conclusion, I am not advocating to forego the contract system entirely. Some quick general thinking brings up the fact that it is still useful and functional for the following (but not limited to) transactions:
-A separate market for (mostly) researched blueprint copies, or (unfortunately) unpackaged or researched blueprint originals. -A means to sell other goods which is no longer possible to repackage (I believe there's a whole other thread/discussion pertaining to these issues. Doesn't really fall into the marketing category per se so I wouldn't elaborate) -A system to privately carry out businesses between any two parties (e.g; Builders A, B and C mutually agreement to take a shipment of various items from Corp A at set intervals. As others have suggested, storefronts perhaps?) -A means of simple item transfers between characters on the same account -A less temporary and easier to access means of keeping receipts of business/personal loans (not sure how many do this)
In layman terms, compared to the market, the contract system simply looks like a very unorganised yard sale with stuff just strewn one on top of the other. The contract UI badly needs some improvements and changes. I'm going to try iron out a few more specific ideas to constructively add on top of those already being suggested by other posters here.
As an end note, hopefully the CSM will take this post into consideration; at the very least as just another player with his (limited) understanding and concerns on the current market related user interfaces.
Regards.

Ok. I've steeled myself for the onslaught of flames, but...
I'd really like to see them add the ability to limit market buy orders to hi/lo sec only (tie it to a new skill or not).
I know: 1) grow balls and pick up your lowsec stuff; 2) drop out of the market; 3) it would make trading too complicated. I've seen similar comments all over the place. I trade in both, depending on the area.
Bottom line is that it would make trading 'safer' for people, the result being greater competition in hisec, and would avoid 'wastage'(items that sit unsold in inventory) in lowsec, and make low sec trade more profitable for those who wish to do it.

1. Corporation NAV calculator VIA all corporation Wallet/hanger/deliveries/in space/etc assets automatically and just use the daily weekly average of the items prices!
2. STOP the .01 isk price wars... should change it to something like 1% of highest/lowest weekly average values for sell/buy orders!
3. Make more defined roles for manufacturing/research/etc in corporations hangers/ POSs.
4. Increasing the item database limit on TRITANIUM piles and Shares dividends (along with everything else i guess) would be nice form the 2.1xxxx billion to something a bit higher or perhaps and EVEN number like 3b or 5b?
5. In game SHARE trading Tool... please! and perhaps and AUTOMATIC recovery tool (paying them market value of course) if and account or corporation that has shares gets [CLOSED] or goes inactive for more then 1 year?
thats all i can think of right now... ..

Introduce the completion time and collateral options that exist for courier contracts to item exchange contracts.
For example, a manufacturer creates a contract to buy 10 million units of tritanium for 30 million ISK, with 10 million ISK collateral, and an expiration of 3 days. The seller who accepts the contract, in this case perhaps a miner, then has 3 days to deliver the 10 million units of tritanium. During this time, the buyer cannot cancel the contract. If the miner fails to complete the contract after 3 days, the buyer's 30 million ISK is returned, along with the seller's 10 million ISK collateral.
Currently in EVE, risk in the market is imbalanced in favour of buyers. A buyer can place a contract to buy an item, which might lead a seller to complete the contract, either by buying the item from someone else, buying materials and producing it, or transporting it from their hangar to where the buyer needs it. All of these things may take time (often a lot of time in the case of production), and at any point during that time, someone else can complete the contract, or the buyer can simply change their mind and delete it. There is no risk to the buyer, but the seller must often make an investment in time and ISK and risks losing out if the contract vanishes before they can complete it.
Real world companies often operate in a chain in which their costs are to some degree fixed by agreements with suppliers or through the use of futures and options contracts, and their income can be similarly guaranteed through agreements with customers. In EVE, unless buyers can find sellers who they're willing to trust with their ISK while their order is produced, or sellers can find buyers who they can trust to pay them when the order is ready, there are very few options for mitigating risk.
The above change should redress the current imbalance, and since the functionality already exists in courier contracts it would hopefully be quite an easy feature to implement. |

- Extensive market functionality for COSMOS and Moondoggie (new In-Game-Browser).
- Allow corporations to integrate their IGB websites with Storefronts.
- Market Data display options for the in-game map.
- Fix the billboard bug and introduce in-game advertisement creation tools. Allow corporations to bid against each other for system, constellation and regional display time. Initially the advertisement tool could be a simple single-frame or slideshow feature. Later iterations could perhaps include the option to import video (a settings option could be introduced to deactivate billboard advertisements, similar to the current chat log option).
- Allow votes to lock down assets other than blueprints.
- Introduce new corporation tax tools, especially on refining and LP. Market transaction tax could be introduced as well, but would obviously be relatively easy to avoid using a market alt. It would still be convenient to have the functionality there for people who would like to use it though. Bounty, mission reward, LP and refining taxes are more meaningful as a missioning or mining alt requires more time and skillpoint investment than a basic market alt.
- An auction system for leases on station facilities owned by NPC corporations, with the ability to invest in improvements and alterations. Lease holders could determine the fees for using station services in the same way outpost services are managed by their owners.
- Ability to open multiple market tabs to compare different items side by side.
- Ability to drag the tabs inside the market window (such as market data/price history/my orders), to separate windows.
- Ability to save market data to be viewed later in-game.
- Ability to overlay market graphs for different items.
- Adapt the LP for kills system in FW for mercenary contracts. Substitute LP for ISK, or allow LP to be traded and offered as payment.
- Broker system to allow automatic updating of orders at skill-determined time intervals by a given amount above/below the highest/lowest order within a given range, limited by ceiling/floor options.

Some previously mentioned ideas I support (copy pasted):
- Separate corp roles for creating and cancelling production/research jobs.
- Courier contract size limits should have been removed a long time ago.
- Better calculator with formatted value display.
- Less laggy market browser & 'my orders' browser.
- Increase/decrease order by XX/0.01 amount of ISK (right-click option). (I think a button to match or go 0.01 ISK above/below the lowest/highest order in station/solar system/region range would also be helpful. This wouldn't help with 0.01 ISK wars but would perhaps make them more bearable).
- Increase amount payable via dividend mechanism.
- Corp share trading in market tab. (The price history tab could also include dividend history).
- Contract API.
- Share tracking journal.
- Short Selling (Opposite of Margin Trading). (I think the basic tools for this already exist in loan contracts, but I doubt anyone uses them. Bringing the functionality to the market window should help provide a proper audience and create a functioning market).
- Introduction of Futures contracts. (I think the idea I described above for item exchange contracts could be a step towards this).
- Incorporate share trading and reporting into COSMOS. This will come in handy when you read the IPO's business model and such.
- A real working loan contract, where the collateral is locked (like a BPO) and the payment terms are set.
- Transaction data visualisation -- lots of pretty graphs: units sold by item, profit by item, sales per customer, profit per month.
- Highlight personal and corporation sell/buy orders in the market window.
- Allow modification of sell/buy orders by right-clicking on the order in the market window.
- Personal wallet and hangar divisions similar to what is available for corporations.
- Have the S&I Interface/API log who delivers/cancels a job.
- An additional Marketing role in the corporation so that ANY member with this role can adjust Corp market orders, not solely the person who put the order up.
- Some way to tell BPOs from BPCs at a glance.
- Ability to start multiple manufacturing/research/invention jobs of the same type/parameters at once, (i.e. shift-click to select multiple BPOs/BPCs, then the available slots).
- Alliance level access to POS. Alliance use of copy towers, with copies returned to corp hangar or an alliance hangar.
- Allow characters to set up a system to give money periodically to someone else.
- Ability to add items to an already existing sell order.
- Ability to look at an item's market history for just one solar system.
- Ability to zoom/adjust ranges of market graph.
- Meta level on first sight like tech level.
- Moon materials included in loot drops in level 4 and 5 missions, high level/difficult complexes and in rat drops and hauler spawns in 0.0.
- Right-click option on market and non-market items (as hotlinked or in a hanger) for "Get Open Contracts".
- Bonus for early completion to public courier contracts.
- 3, 6, and 12 hour completion windows for courier jobs.
- Auction contracts assignable to a specific corp.
- Search function in contracts history (by item).
- The ability to turn off local in Jita completely.
- Contract window filters for blueprints by ME/PE range, minimum run count, and original/copy.

Highlight your orders.
See who is selling before you buy. Add blue / green highlights for corp / alliance. Would rather buy from a friend, and would rather not undercut one selling.
Player Owned Outposts can block neutrals from buying and selling, owner can kill trade orders to prevent remote buy / sell scamming.
Make faction items sellable / buyable so we don't need contracts for them. Contracts should be for unusual offerings (like officer mods) or for bundling sales. Failing that, another set of contracting skills, with +10 contracts per level.

As a trader I would like to see the following:
* Allow export of all items (or only a sub folder) in your quick list, instead of clicking each items separately and clicking export afterwards (or let us compare region prices without external tools for which we need to export first) * a list of completed buy/sell orders would be nice, so you know which stocks to replenish * reports on profit per item would be nice aswell * enable people to pick what ever seller they want, instead of always picking the cheapest OR * mark orders that have been outbid in your orders list * mark your orders in the market view
That's all I can think of for now :), hope you'll be able to get some of the stuff in sometime!

So a default on a contract can cause a sec loss. This way there is some form of collateral that a new player can offer on his 5 to 25m loan when he has little else to offer.

Our corp CEO asked me last night what our profit margin on stuff was. I realized that it's very difficult to articulate that easily without tracking a ton of information. Perhaps permit "corp buy and sell orders". These would show up on the buy screen only for corp members (expandable to alliance members perhaps?). Have them have low costs (comparable to the contract system). The problem with the contract system is that it's bulk only. Either I've got 10million trit or I don't. This system would be much more useful to miners and manufacturers who are looking to buy/sell internally without having to set up a somewhat difficult (and not transparent) contract system.

Supply and demands dependant npc goods and facility pricing.
Exhaustible npc supply of items and even bpos. balanced by price and demand ofc.. but where the markets can temporarily run out..
Market order limit "nerf/boost" limit to be per station and lower then current (suggested 150 max), and with corporate market orders boosted to something like 500+.
This potentially a Jita dependancy killer, and more minor hubs possible..
Recycling of T3 products? Maybe just with a rather big loss..
More and better market graph options especially filtering..
Specific request: When placing orders from space a preselected favorite feature would be nice, so you dont get the full region list all the time..
Boost to courier contracts in and along the lines to promote a shipping industry. More placable contracts and a sorting and filtering system showing isk/m3/jump, with sort by ofc..
A trust/standing based collateral calculation. Optional feature to reduce collaterals on couriers with trusted parties..
Storyline / content seeded changes to market prices (npc buy and sell)
To mention some favorites of mine..

Create either a special contract type or market section for wholesale. This would be a section where manufacturers can sell to players who wish to buy in huge quantities without having to travel from system to system or region to region to gather up the quantities of certain items...allowing us to spend more time doing more productive things. These sections would have minimum quantities or ISK Values and be exclusively dedicated to the retailers, people who want to sell the items one at a time or use them to manufacture other items. It may be better to create a special contract type called "Wholesale" hence market modifications would likely cause problems at first and result in even more server clogging.
Another reason why i want and other manufacturers want this, is the penny war. We spend enormous amounts of time and money modifying sales orders by .01 so we can get our huge quantities sold. This continual refreshment of the market and constant modifications not only are a pain for us but for the servers as well.
Some features of this feature:
1. For every item on the market add a button on the market detailed view and group view which says "See Wholesale COntracts for this product". The user can click on this which would take him directly to the wholesale contracts list for this particular item.
2. Limit of 1 product per contract. "I would hate to see this turn into a "overstock" where people throw in all their junk together and put a price tag on it. There is already a contract for those."
3. Contract must display cubic meter volume of the entire lot
4. Contract minimum value should be set somewhere around 10 million, regardless of the quantity of items you place there. An additional benefit to this is that these particular contracts section will not be flooded with penny contracts. Since this will be a sectiond dedicated to manufacturers / wholesale buyers and volume sellers/buyers we do not want every single missioner to put in there 5 units of every item they have salvaged or looted. We want this to be big money, big volume trade as the manufacturing market is in real life.
5. Contract will automatically display the UNIT PRICE for the item sold and the % difference between the contract price and average regional price (as you already do on buy and sell orders)
6. Allow the skill Wholesale to govern how many of these contracts you can set up. Each skill level would give you +8. These would be different from regular contracts since its likley many manufacturers will be making a living off these and we would not want to restrict them to 10-15 contracts as they may manufacture dozens of items.

I've seen this mentioned a few times, and it is a horrible idea to change the current system. Imagine tritanium in Jita: since most people buy fairly large volumes, there would be thousands of unfinished sell orders of small amounts of tritanium. You can't sort by location and price, so you would have to scroll through thousands of orders to find the cheapest higher-volume order in your current station. Now imagine the server load when most items on the market have this issue.
The same people calling for this change would be complaining about lag and time wasted looking through so many sell orders.

Edited by: Tiberizzle on 23/10/2009 22:30:17 It'd be nice if there was either a reasonable minimum increment for a buy / sell bid or adjustment (.01*best_offer, sqrt(best_offer)?), or even a stochastic distribution of orders to outstanding bids reasonably close to the offer (again: +/- .01*best_offer, sqrt(best_offer), pick your function). Just think of all the server load that could be shed by driving markets to equibrium more quickly
I would also like to +50 the "move the cancel order button and/or prompt for confirmation". It is very stupid that it confirms your intent to get a great deal, while failing to confirm before you waste ISK on brokers' fees.

Well, tritanium is the cheapest. But I was thinking about eliminating basic materials out of that...but I have no problem with unfinshed sales orders.
Mostly where I would like to see this implemented is high end stuff, rigs, ships, guns, ammo, what you gonna do with 10 million in Phased Plasma M except resell it? There would have to be some sort of system which would prevent people setting up millions of contracts like this. A way to compute minimum requirements in order to sell that good...
For example...for trit you would have a 100 million ISK minimum, for medium rigs 30 million, for large rigs 300 million, for small ammo 5 million, medium ammo 10 million and so on. In order words the minimum wholesale contract value would be directly related to the item's average market value vs its average market volume in the last 6 months.
I disagree with you there. The current system is flawed, resulting in a highly chaotic and uncontroled market, far from reality....like manufacturers always being able to sell under cost without going bankrupt?! They just make less money without realizing it...i could go on and on. The current system needs improvement.

Err.. you can sort by price and location. I don't know why you'd want to, as that puts "Jita" is in the middle of the list, but you can...

I just thought of another couple.
Fix the input handling so that Shift-Home, Del works 100% of the time in the price textbox. I don't know why it doesn't, but it seems to go to the beginning of the line and ignore the select and delete requests entirely a large portion of the time.
Remove the input restrictions on the price textbox and validate input after submission. I should be able to type a second price and then delete the original price (Shift-End, Del) without input mangling. By dropping the second decimal to occur it manuevers the user towards an erroneous input that can be a factor of 100 times higher than intended. In conjunction with the above issue it disturbingly frequently results in near submission of prices that are the concatenation of the price 100 times higher than intended and the previous price.
