Let's say that i never tryied incursion but i'd like to. What should i bring in mind? How to join a fleet? What ship to bring?
And most important of all: How do i know people are not simply going to gank me?
Any tip/info/personal experience is appreciated. Thank you.

Depends. Depends. Depends.

Well it's high-sec. Unless you're doing low or null, in which case you should already trust the people you're going with.

Close. The people you're going with should be trustworthy. There is a subtle but important difference.

Bring the best ship you have for killing frigates or bring a logistics cruiser.
The ship you bring needs to be at least a battlecruiser or tech 2 cruiser, and fit for buffer tank. The logistics cruisers in your fleet will be keeping you up, so don't bring a local tank. As a general rule, 70% resists across the board will make the logis job easier.
If you're a fan of the books, you might have the character age to have a decent skill set. In that case, a marauder or pirate faction battleship or tech 3 cruiser is a good option to get into fleets fast.
If you made that name because of the series that just came out, you're probably going to be stuck in a battlecruiser for a while.

Edited by: Althea Agathon on 22/05/2011 00:01:16 If you do a high sec incurion, it is in high sec, but people still get killed pretty often due to griefing. Some of the tricks people use:
1) start a fleet where all logis are griefers. In the middle of a site, stop providing reps to fleet members and loot their wrecks. 2) join a fleet as a logi and without them noticing loot a can(s) and then transfer aggro to other logis and possible fleet members who are using a cap transfer or remote rep. Then have friends warp in and kill unsuspecting targets. 3) leave a wreck in a site with moderately tempting loot in it. Hope a fleet member loots it. Warp in and kill looter and any logis who repped them. 4) (this doesn't work anymore) go gcc while logis are repping you and watch them get concorded.
I'm sure there are other tactics that have been used, but joining a high sec incursion fleet is by no means "safe" just because it's in high sec.

True, true. However, I feel it would be better for me for him if he were to go with my version.

Get into a incursion area and post in the incursion channel you need a proper fit for your ship. You will need a T2 ship. The fleets that accept T1 ships, Id not want to fly in.
If you dont allow war deced pilots, and dont pick up stray loot, they are very safe.
All type II mods and weapons, faction stuff is even better.
