So I'm new at this game, I just finished up the career missions. My crop isn't doing much as of yet(I'm told we will be ..... soon) so I was wondering if anybody had suggestions on how to continue? Suggestions for agents would be much appreciated. Other than that anything involing pvp a noob can jump into would be nice.
As an unrelated side question when will it be reasonably "safe" for me to head into low/null sec?
Thanks |

It will be face for you to leave high-sec when you are flying something you can afford to lose, and can afford to replace multiple times.

I think that first of all you should get an idea of all what is possible to do in EVE. For that you can have a look here : http://swiftandbitter.com/eve/wtd/ Then don't hurry to join a corp who will decide for you what's your next move. You should try stuff and have a taste of it by yourself, in all freedom. There are many newcommers-friendly corporations in high sec who will support you to experiment whatever you wish without forcing you into one playstyle. They are usually doing a bit of everything : mining, production, missions, exploration... some of them also organize roamings in low-sec, which is good. When you'll have a bit more experience, you'll then be able to decide what kind of more specialized life-style you want. But i find a bit dangerous to jump right now into something you have no idea if you'll like it or not. The most valuable richness in EVE is your freedom of choice. It's a game, and the main compass you should follow is if you enjoy or not what you are doing. If you want to have a go to PvP without all the stress which is around it, i'd suggest that you join RvB for some time. You'll get plenty of fun PvP fights without stress and without losing much money for you can use cheap T1 frigates. Ah, and PvP is not a regular source or income, especially for an unexperienced player. So even if you become a fierce warrior, you should still find a way to get enough money to finance it and your next project.
Oh, and if you've not done it already, i warmly recommand you to do the Sisters of EVE epic arc, which is kind of the next step after the tutorials, and will show you the world around and bring you some money and stuff. You can start it by contacting the agent Sister Alitura, who is located at Sister of EVE Bureau station at planet IX GÇô moon 3 in the Arnon solar system. I hope i've helped a bit, and don't forget ! first of all, always ask yourself : do you have fun doing what you are doing ? This is a game and there are many different ways to play and enjoy it |

Go into low/null right now. Its not that bad...and the spaceships that you lose are just pretend anyway. Insert something witty and clever here |

Other than that anything involing pvp a noob can jump into would be nice. If your corp isn't continually active in your play-times, but instead will be active SoonGäó, I suggest finding a different corp. There are plenty of newbie-friendly corps out there who will show you the ropes and get you going. Try the corp finder, browsing the recruitment forums, or asking around for which corps others recommend.
Valergian Lakarme wrote:As an unrelated side question when will it be reasonably "safe" for me to head into low/null sec? Nothing is ever truly "safe" in Eve, and it's very hard to define "reasonably safe". I would, however, recommend looking into what make lowsec or nullsec different from hisec. Not all the info on those pages is vital, but it's good for perusing.
And, again, looking up some 3rd party info on your own may yield more points of view, expressions of what to do, advice, etc. The internet is your friend!

Losec and nullsec will actually get progressively less safe for you as your character gets older, because you will become a gradually more and more expensive target, increasing the likelihood pilots will go out of their way to attack you.
Explore now in a cheap ship while you have nothing to lose. Your future self who flies a very expensive ship will thank you for the situational awareness and threat management techniques you learned. |

Yes, I agree, barge into nullsec in a shuttle while your clones are still free/very cheap. Come to terms with the fact that you're going to die in a fire. There are nullsec alliances who will take you as you are. Take a tour around the galaxy. !!! When traveling through 0.0, WATCH LOCAL! when you jump into a new system, if there's anyone else in that system, warp to planet 5 at 70-100 km before you warp to your next gate, this will help you avoid the bubbles the locals use to catch you. Quit your current Corp, they are fail. If you don't feel ready to move to null, you can stay in highsec and join the new emergent profession of Highsec law officer where you'll play the part of an Agent of the New Order of Highsec lead by the savior of highsec James 315. You stand to make Much more money and many more friends than you would continuing your missions. Good luck, hang in there. :) |
