C'mon mister, the fighters costs 2-3 months of training.. have the same effect as my heavy T2's plus a little.. the only thing I gain by having em, is a 5000% extra pricing on my drone, and some speed..

They already do a hell of a lot more than, say, heavies and sentries, before we even get to the added abilities they have over normal drones. Dreads bash, carriers rep. Support and BS fleets keep both from getting shot up if possible. Bring the right tool for the job.
CCP had loads of fun rererebalancing mommies to not be all in one I win buttons an old patch made them out to be. Don't see them making the same mistake with carriers. And it be a mistake....way more carriers than mommies on the server.

The difference being the fighter will maybe apply half of that DPS to a subcap and costs 20+ million. Really the only benefit a fighter has is that you can assign it to another ship, which is fair enough, but still, 1000 dps with a full flight of fighters w/ drone control units seems a bit poor. |

Cost isn't really a factor to begin with, and its damage application is much what you'd expect from a cruiser. Sorry but having trouble hitting subcaps well use actual drones fighters are ment for battleship and above where there laying the full 1000 - 1500 dps into the capitals and oh a little over halve into bs. But wait bs do only about 500-600 dps wich is atleast 100 less then a real capital pilots fighters. Can't hit cruisers and below no surprise your not suppose to u should be carrying a set of sentry drones or below for anything smaller then a bs but if your so insistant on using ur fighters to kill something they wern't desighned to I guess u need a couple targetpainters to make the small **** bigger. Then again you'll be laughed at on eve kill for not using a proper fit and not haveing subcap support. Now as for not haveing the dps of a dread guess what thats what moms are for being able to launcher fighter bombers who are desighned for cap on cap combat aswell as sieges though still aint better then a sieged dread the bombers will about match a non siege dread. Jow for my final point of me feeling sorry for what ever corp/alliance is tagged under your name and will probally be ridiculed for having noobie carrier pilots. |

Drones do need more DPS; there is no doubt. I'd say about 20% more base straight across the board, but that's up to someone else to figure out. zubzubzubzubzubzubzubzub |

IMHO a logistics ship should have terrible offense, otherwise why fly anything else? |

Currently the Carrier is quite strong with pushing out around 1k dps with fighters as well as providing capital level logistics to a battlefield.
Applying both of these things at once its quite effective in any fight. And all pilots have the choice of pushing either ability of the carrier even farther with DCUs or Triage, allowing for even more DPS output (at the cost of fitting logistics modules) or allowing for a doubling of the effect of logistics (at the cost of using drones while in traige). TBH carriers are probably still the most balanced of the group when we're talking about capitals and super-capitals. |

I don't know why some people think carriers are purely logis. When they were first added in Red Moon Rising, they were primarily drone/fightboats for dps.
In 07, they were massively nerfed to limit drone/fighter numbers because they preliferated (over 10000, as stated, which is a lot back then but seems like a joke nowdays), but even then, devs have stated that carriers are generalized t1 boats, and logistics part of a carrier is only a "secondary role," as compared to t2 logis, which are primarily logis.
