First time into 0.0. 3 jumps from empire and I lucked out at a warp bubble camped by what I think was an Amarian Battleship, a crow that did 3000 points of damage to me while I MWD'd under the effects of web, and some other guy who didn't quite manage to hit me, but tried to scramble.
If I wasn't in my Prorator, I wonder if they all would have podded me, because if it'd been almost any other ship, I would not have gotten through.
Is everyone in 0.0 trigger happy or what? It was interesting though. Kinda scary really, considering I don't have alot of money, and couldn't replace anything I had lost. Implants, expensive Blockade Runner, Local Hull Nanostructioning...
As far as I could tell, I don't think I was trespassing, though maybe I was. Probably just griefers though. And btw, my definition of a griefer is anyone who causes me grief for no reason apparent to me. They certainly didn't say anything to me.
Anyway, I've locked myself into station and wondering what to do now. Maybe there's someone I can get in touch with, or maybe I should just try to get through shortly after downtime.

No, they're defending their space. Generally you should check soveriegnty and notify those controlling the space if you want to pass through.

Then your definition of "griefer" is wrong.
Obviously you were trespassing somewhere. All of 0.0 is claimed except Syndicate and Pure Blind, both of which are crawling with pirates.

This is why going into 0.0 takes intelligence. You need to know how to avoid camps and the like if you want to go around willy-nilly in someone else's space. Its not for newbies. -- Proud member of the [23].

If you go into 0.0, expect to be shot, especially on the first jump.

Many are trigger happy, and many more can be mistaken as being trigger happy. When an alliance or corp claims space they kill everything else that enters their space, because they can't identify alts and enemies. By not killing everything that enters their space, they leave themselves vulnerable. The unfortunate downside of this is that they end up killing many people who they had no beef with.
Whether you ran through real alliance space or just into kill happy pirates is hard to tell. You need to be involved in the regeon to understand which areas are highly claimed, contested, or fairly peaceful. It's all politics really. There are some pathways that are safe to travel because the alliances surrounding it agree to keep it open in order to prevent an all out unproductive bloodbath.
Anyways, it's the live and let die mentality of 0.0 space, kill or be killed.

Edited by: Wesley Harding on 15/01/2006 02:06:25 It was just 3 jumps from Empire.
And now I see the wisdom of Instas. Before I thought they were a horrendous lag inducing, exploit. Now I see that they're necessary for survival!
Oh, I'm in...Syndicate.
You know, before I started my jaunt I did check for Alliance terroritories, but my route didn't go through any. There's alot to EVE to know I guess, aside from skill training times and ship setups.

Orvolle is the last Empire system I was in. I went through PF-346, where I encountered the Bubble and then went through FD-MLJ where I met the Crow. I'm now instation in X-M2LR. Maybe the font could use a little work...
What my chances, Doc? 2500 M/S Prorator with 4 local hull nanofibers?

I don't think you could have done worse.
Syndicate is the most dangerous region in EVE.
PF-346 is the most dangerous system in EVE.
You did this on a Saturday, the second-most popular day of the week.
You did this at peak hours.
Welcome to Syndicate, where it took me 5 hours to go in, pick up a few items, and get out, in an MWD frigate due to inty squads chasing me and gangs camping stations.
I'd suggest you get out, like, 30 minutes before downtime. And NOT through PF-346. There are a number of other choices -- Proud member of the [23].

by FAR the most dangerous places in 0.0 are the first jump-ins. Especially the systems PF-, EC-, A2- and that one beside Obe. Those systems are camped almost all the time really, because each of them are the biggest 'chokepoints' for 0.0 . A chokepoint is essentailly what it seems, if you control one of the aforementioned systems you cut off access to a large portion of the 0.0 space beyond.
Best advice is to avoid such systems like the plague unless a friendly can either scout, or a group of friendlies are the ones camping it. So, in your case, if you wanted in to 0.0 check for a back route. I would say get bookmarks but they dont help on a jump-in.
P.S. PF-346 is the gateway to regions controlled by BoB, who WILL shoot you if you are not set to a positive standing by them, in the regions beyond PF- (Fountain, Delve, Period Basis, Outer Ring to be precise). Most alliances operate this sort of policy. If you want to go looking around and be safe, then this is your friend. -----------------------------------------

Yeah.
Fuggin' hell.
What is this about different routes? Everything else takes me further into 0.0 space. And only slightly smaller camps at the other entrances.
Better keep the autopilot off I guess and take it one jump at a time.

The map is your friend. Find a Pf-Orvolle type jump (0.0 to empire) that looks a bit more obscure. moving without a scout is tricky, so check for things on the map like "Ships destroyed in last hour" and "Pilots in space" (bugged though) to get a feeling of wher to avoid. Good luck, but I hope you didnt have an expensive cargo. -----------------------------------------

Try the MHC chokepoint. It's not always camped - certainly not as bad as PF-346 - but I wouldn't rate your chances particularily high. You just have to get lucky. If you can get in, you can get out, I suppose... ___

There are many different chokepoints that go into Syndicate. PF is simply the worst--some of the others aren't camped very often due to them being complete back routes that take much longer. -- Proud member of the [23].

My pod is expensive, my ship is expensive, and my mods are expensive, at least to me. And I've chosen a bad time I guess since I don't have alot of money at the moment. I could always cash in those Partial Hull Expanders though...
Maybe I could buy off a bunch of noobs. "Swarm this gate at this time and I will pay back your lost frigs and clones!"
A pittance compared to what I might lose.

Set your destination to Vestouve, it's one of the back doors out of Syndicate and it happens to be the closest one to where you are located at the moment. You go through TXW-EI I think to get out (the last 0.0 jump). Then you just have to contend with about 5 jumps of low-sec Placid space until you get to Stacmon.
There are some pirate infested systems between you and there, but you're in a blockade runner, and regardless of what you may think about how broken it is - you are still alive. So...repair up and head out. Your chances are fair if you leave now. You don't HAVE to wait for downtime...it's just safer that way.
P.S. - Keep this between us...I don't want my corp mates to start thinking I helped out a newbie or anything... |

Pilots in space "Bugged though"?
When did I say that?
There was a large number of ships forming up at the gate in Orvolle. Like 20 cruisers, perhaps a few larger vessels. Wonder what they were up to...
Anyway, I don't have any pressing business at the moment, so I can afford to wait...well months if I want. I have plenty of skill training to do, and some extra armor, evasion, or speed might help. I could probably get my shields up another 100 points by tommorrow night...
So, right before downtime ends, but is there a day of the week that'd be good? I'd like my chances to be as good as possible.

I said it, I think the above poster's quoting got a little messed up. I always assumed it was broken, having been in so-called 'ghost fleets' that dont appear on map. Unless CCP finally fixed it, I havent checked it in quite a while. -----------------------------------------
