Creating a thread so you guys have somewhere to talk about this feature since you are going to get a look at it with the build going out today.
What you are getting today is still extremely raw as we are basically smack in the middle of implementation as this goes out. That said, we would love any feedback you guys have on this feature, especially related to the design/content/usability of it. Some of these things will be changing/improving as we add more over the coming weeks, but don't hesitate to share what you think in the current state.
Thanks! |

We are going to be putting ISIS to the test regarding usability in a week or so where we will evaluate how users respond to the way navigation works in it and how they respond to using the info bubbles to get information about factions, ship groups and ships.
Your feedback until then will help us decide which areas to focus our efforts in these user testing sessions.
This project has been a labour of love for team Game of Drones and we truly believe it will assist players in setting progression goals and deciding which ship to take out for a spin. CCP Arrow-á-á|-á Game Design Director -á|-á-áEVE Online -á|-á-á@CCP_Arrow |

AMAZING !
And you can even see the ship moving in the background if you clic on the preview image. (You need to quickly resize the preview before the ship appears though)
I just don't get why some races have the ship moving from left to right while some pirate factions have the ship staying at the center-right to move toward the player and dissapear at center-left.
No, really, cool stuff. I don't like the way threes are displayed for pirate / ore factions though, as it let newbies think that there are plenty of ships for them where this is just false.
Also, you'll have to resize all the icons when SOE will be added to this shiny feature :o G££ <= Me |

The pirate factions trees are not finished, complete work in progress. We are thinking of ways to clarify the way in which they are shown.
The backgrounds are placeholder, that's why some of them are wrong, we are discussing some things.
Also the ship moving in the background is another, work in progress idea.

Very nice visual representation of ship progression. Smooth scrolling, zooming and informative mouse over pop ups. I also like the single click on a ship to bring up the item window. Just a couple of general observations:
- The T1 ship box icons look a little bland compared to their faction and T2 counter parts. Could the ship profile be lightened, or maybe use a box white border prehaps, to provide greater contrast versus ships that the player is not capable of flying?
- Have the mastery skill dependencies yet to be finalized? I note that I need Gravimetric and Magnetometric Sensor Compensation skills to achieve the next level of Rifter Mastery, for example, when I'd have thought Ladar would suffice.
- Would it be possible to add a drag 'n drop for ship boxes to chat? (Would save a left click to open Item window).
I think this is an awesome feature that will be a great help to new players and useful for older players too |

I would love a toggle able view which made the icons change size depending the ship size. For a new player I think it would be really cool to understand the disparity & progression of ship classes. Even if you don't go fully to scale with the icons I suggest that the different ship classes would be easier to understand if the icons increased over class.
The icon sizes are especially important because the small icons don't capture much detail of the capital ships due their size and length the height ratio. |

Awesome feature , perfect even for a old player like myself , some times i used to browse the market (browsing ships)for the same feature that u implemented here .
Now for the feedback.
Not sure why the industrial ships are bellow the battlecruisers , i could see them below cruisers because it is easy to get into them .
I like the small icons next to the ship class , would love to be able to see them in space, brackets ,overview maybe .
I think it would be great if there was a feature like this one for other aspects of eve like manufacturing ,PI, player owned strucures .
On the pirate ships i would recommend to not put all the ships from the 2 merged factions , i don`t know it looks weird, maybe just keep the ones with models and or bonus.
Also i think the ORE faction needs a top spot along the 4 big empires.
Maybe ad a small description to ships like this Harbinger- Combat Battlecruiser when u hover the mouse over the harbi |

This feature looks great and is a fantastic addition to the game for new players and old players alike. I have been looking forward to this ever since it was showcased at Fanfest. One question I have for you though:
Why has it been graphically downgraded since you last showcased it? I remember it having awesome holographic 3d models of the ships instead of just icons... this was really cool and it would be nice to see that back in. |

I have to say I really love this feature. But I am a tad confused. I thought the ship tree was going to be a bit more streamlined to what was actually helpful for a ship.
For example.
To get Mastery for a Fenrir over level I I would need acceleration Control level I. Since acceleration control "Skill at efficiently using Afterburners and MicroWarpdrives. 5% Bonus to Afterburner and MicroWarpdrive speed boost per skill level." This makes no sense to me.
When you get higher in the mastery tree Fuel Conservation and micro jump drive Operation both join the party. Which again makes no sense to me. Maybe we'll be getting some mids on it??
Since I have no plans on ever training Fuel Conservation on this toon, I'll never have higher then a IMastery II for this ship? *\o/* |

One simple question not 100% related to this only: Are there any plans to use the new ship class icons in other parts of the interface (read: Overview and Brackets)? Even if it's just optional? I'm sick of only three (well, four) sizes of brackets, especialyl when wanting to differentiate between things such as frigates and destroyers (which might be important in missions to not get webbed/scrambled). It looks like I don't have Cruiser mastery above II for just about every cruiser for only two reasons: I don't have Electronic Warfare Drones to III (it's II, which is enough to use EC-300s) and I don't have passive shield compensation skills at all except for EM (because I've literally never used any other passive shield hardener, and even then only on kinda weird fits). Battleships are mostly at I because of the drone thing. I'll leave the complaining about MJD skills on frigates to other people, since I haven't even gotten far enough to be blocked by that, but those seem like weird requirements.
In general, I feel like these certificates suffer from some of the same "you must have everything in a bin, and there are a finite number of bins" problems as the old ones.
What level mastery do you expect your average reasonably-experienced pilot to have on their favored ships? What level is the "I've started training all the really esoteric skills for this ship" level? (5 is obviously the "I've *trained* all the esoteric skills that might affect this ship" level, and I'm okay with that.) |

Must have: The option to invert mouse wheel zoom, it's soooo weird to have it different than my in-space settings
A nice thing to go with the zooming would be to have it zoom relative to where your mouse is (think guild wars 2 map) so if you zoom out, reposition your mouse, and zoom in, it would zoom and center on the location of your mouse.
One little thing, the thumbnails of ships don't fade in/out at the same rate as the rest of the mouseover pop-up. Currently feels a bit jarring. Crowdsourcing FTW Dev Post |

This might be a little difficult to decipher, so I'll start by saying that "tooltip" refers to the information pop-up when you hover over a ship's sillhouette in the tree.
I rather like the ship fly-by when you click on its icon in the pop-up tooltip. However, I'm not sure clicking on that icon needs to open a preview window in addition to the fly-by. Currently when you click on the white sillhouette of the ship you'll open the info window which provides all the usual functionality, including an icon that triggers a preview window when clicked. Having the tooltip in the ship tree also provide that functionality feels redundant and, if your preview window is resized large enough to see anything in it, covers over the flyby. Perhaps remove the preview trigger from the pop-up.
With regards to the fly-by, I noticed that different factions have them at different angles and while this isn't a bad thing, some of those angles are pretty useless. The Sansha ships, for example, fly nearly straight away from you which is not helpful in the slightest. The Gallente ships fly away from you as well although at a much lesser angle which allows more to be seen. The trouble there, however, is that the ships only fly a certain distance and then they stop - this leaves you with a still-visible ship model just kinda sitting there. If it's not possible to keep the ship moving until it's too small to notice anymore, maybe do away with flying-away-from-you angles and have all the ships either fly across the screen or at some angle towards you.
I'm very aware the ISIS is extremely WIP and could easily be described as still in alpha, but you did ask for feedback and I rather like it so I thought it best to give my full first impression. |

e: I do agree with you on the other points though. For example ragnorak requiring you to train all 4 sensor compensation skills to 5 is fairly funny when it doesnt affect the ship in the slightest. (Or it could just be a hint of titan changes to come :tinfoil:)
Sure, I realize it gives an extra 3km range, but I find cruisers either engage within standard 50km T2 scout drone range or off beyond the end of even the ~60km range that you get with maxed out skills. (Okay, I admit I'd forgotten about that part, but that's my justification for not having trained it to III yet.)
Now that you point it out, sensor compensation is a better example, actually, since it's obviously the same cert for all ships and three of the four skills are always going to be irrelevant. |

I was going to comment about this too, seems a little silly to have the MJD, AB, and MWD skills plus a rigging skill for a ship with no slots, but I understand that it is probably to much work (and side-stepping the whole point of the new system) to modify the cert for each ship. Still funny though. |

For the pirates faction tree, can we get the prereqs of the trees removed? Take this for instance:
http://imgur.com/0Ad26I0
For the Gila, it shows both the Caldari cruisers (above) and the Gallente cruisers (below). Can those be removed. Also for the skill box for the ship, it takes the lowest of the two skills. Can both skills be displayed next to it? That is two boxes with the chevron stacked. The top would be for Caldari and the bottom for Gallente. |

I have to concur with others here who are talking about the sensor compensation skills. Those and any others like them where a skill doesn't affect AT ALL the ship in question seems like they should be removed somehow if you can figure out a way to streamline it without losing the simplicity of the new system.
Second I would love to know what happened to the fancy shmancy version you put out at Fanfest. This version seems stylistically less impressive, but it could simply be that the other ones didn't perform well. It would just be nice to know why the sudden change.
Also while the ship flying in the background is an interesting idea it needs a lot of work both in how it's initiated and how the ships are represented. Right now it's neat, but visually distracting and I could easily see it becoming annoying with time.
I'm looking forward to the new iconography and tooltips finally being in place. This brings me up to another point. Now that we're getting these consistent tooltips can we get some consistency in presentation on how you represent what modules are allowed to be fit to a ship. Sometimes it's a role bonus; sometimes a special ability; sometimes it's in the description text only. Please pick a consistent text template for what special modules a ship is allowed to fit.
And speaking of fittings -- while this may not belong here -- can we either get the drone information moved into the fitting tab or the fitting information moved into the attributes tab under a fitting section and have the drone information moved there. It's weird that this one weapons system get treated so differently than the others. I think it's neat that it's different, but it could use some cleaning up. Special modules that the ship can fit could also neatly go into the fitting tab.

I like this feature a lot. Only critique I have is the backgrounds. I think each section could use their own unique pattern background that represents the faction through color/design. It would be better than simply using the nebulae, in my opinion. |
