I'm looking for a dedicated gang tackler fit for the wolf. As nanofitted cruisers and warrior II's make very short work of my ranis I'm looking to try something more sturdy.
I like the medium extender setups in this thread, combined with a web. But I'm still thinking about the lows. Would going with 3x Overdrive II be a good idea?

Why a wolf? The Jag is faster, has a better shield tank, and enough mids to fit a passive kin hardener, mwd, web and scram on it. Only reasons I can see to use a wolf for tackling is simply that it looks a lot cooler and it's a bit cheaper. But it's easily worth spending a few mil extra for a jag if you want a beefed up tackler.
The wolf has its places, but tackling isn't really one. If you want to see a wolf shine stick some gyros on it and rat sansha in 0.0.

hi thinkin of shoving some rigs on my jag but should i go 4 rigs to improve recharge rate of sheilds or some rigs to plug the holes in resistances (kinetic for example.
its mainly a mision / occasional rattin ship and current setup is
3 x 150mm t2 oe or summat rocket launcher
x5 prototype web, medium extender (named), kinetic passive hardner (switch for rats etc) t2 afterburner
3 x spr`s
occiasionally i use a active setup with a nos and t2 sheild booster in place of the hardner and swap the spr`s for pdu`s but i mustadmit the passive setup seems pretty solid.
various ideas to improve my baby please, not rich enuff to throw em into pvp just yet rifters n ruptures for that

What skills do you need for that?
I calculated it with the least demanding of each item you mentioned* that I could find in the market (also the nano instead of third gyro II) and it comes up needing 56 power and 278 CPU. My ship has 192 CPU and 53.75 power. I almost have electronics to 5 and engineering is at 5 now so I'm assuming I need skills that reduce the needs of some components.
*3 x 150 autocannon II 1 x Malkuth rocket launcher 1 x 1MN MicroWarpDrive I 1 x Langour webifier 1 x Epsilon scrambler 1 x Regolith medium shield extender 2 x Gyrostabilizer II
Are there any errors here?

Ok so I can step into a Jaguar tomorrow, so been playing around in quickfit for a setup for lo-sec solo pirateing and tackling in a gang and so far have this:-
High - 3x T2 200mm autos (barrage), E5 nos Mid - T2 MWD, passive kin shield hardener, X5 webber, fleeting 20k scram Low - T2 Nano, T2 overdrive, Mark I PDU
Should do around 2900m/s with at least 60% shield resists across the board.
Any thoughts, tips etc?

Been meaning to ask for a while now...
Is there such a thing as too many Gyrostabs? Most people seem to stop at fitting 2, but assuming you can fit an extra one without gimping your tank/mids too much, would you? Or is the benefit too little, considering the stacking penalties?

For something like a Muninn...yes. For a Jaguar you'll need those low slots for other things. One will do .

I was just wondering how this setup would be for small gang tackle support.
3x 150 T2 AC's 1x Small Diminishing NOS
1x Catalyzed Cold-Gas Arcjet Thrusters 1x T2 MSE 1x X5 Web 1x J5 Warp Disruptor
2x Named PDS 1x T2 GyroStab
Fits with 1.94PG/3.9CPU With my skills get 2218 shield hit points w/ 394s regen and around 75dps w/ barrage ammo.
Thoughts?

Hmmmm... that little damage with a gyrostab? I really would recommend keeping it in hangar and using the Rifter until you skill up gunnery a bit more.
Else, the setup is very sound, and i've used something along the similar lines before (just a rocket launcher instead of NOS personally).
Edit: to the guy above, yes, Jaguar would be nicer with falloff bonus, but the Wolf needs it as well. I'd wish they'd fix the fourth bonus first, but well ;P

So far so good
3 x 200mm Autocannons (barrage) 1 x Malkuth Missile launcher (Sabretooth)
1 x 1MN MWD II 1 x Medium Shield Extender II 1 x Named Warp scrambler (not Enough CPU) 1 x Stasis Webifier II
1 x Gyro II 1 x Overdrive Injector II 1 x Micro Auxillary Power Core (needed just to fit the setup, with a lil extra noticed it could also handle the damage rig)
Rigs: Collision Accelerator (+10% Gunz DMG)9 mill ISK, Kinetic Sheild Resistance 7 mill ISK
with 2080 Sheilds, 58% Kinetic lowest shield resistance, speed of about 3k. Fast effective and the damage output of this ship can be a lil crazy :P Too bad the wolf got the falloff modifier and the jaguar the Optimal CCP U STINK

...looks nice. but why don't u take a X5 webber which has the better performance and needs less resources? no need for a named scrambler then and up to a tech II missile launcher depending on advanced weapon upgrade level. by just changing that i get this modified version of your setup:
3 x 200 AC II 1 x missie launcher II (needs AWU V) or arbalest (with AWU I) or rocket II for non AWUs
1 x 1mn MWD II 1 x MSE II 1 x scrambler II 1 x X5 webber
1 x overdrive II 1 x gyro II 1 x MAPC
same rigs.
cheers, gn8

Edited by: Haniblecter Teg on 08/11/2007 17:56:10 My favorite 1v1 and gang ship, the jaguar:
3x 200m AC II 1x 'Knave' NOS
1x MWD II 1x Balmer Tracking disrupter 1x Stasis webber (named, not t2) 1x 7500 scambler
2x Gyro's II's 1x Nano II
You'll need elec/engineering to 5, AWU 4
It can go 2500m/s with good skills, puts out like 113 dps with barrage (EFT). It has the ability to utterly lock down a frig, and most any ship. Problem is you'll need ot operate under 2km. No problem though, keep the MWD humming and even with a 95% web on you most ships bigger than a cruiser can hit a ship with teh tracking disrupter humming. Even after the nerf it should be fine.
Trust me, you dont need a tank on this thing.
Arties are for the wolf honestly. Sure, people say the range bonuses for the wolf/jag are screwed up ,but big deal. Throw some falloff rigs on that wolf, and even with the high damage rounds you'll probably get pretty good range, possibly hititng to optimal+1/2 falloff or so.
here's my wolf fit btw:
4x 280 II's loaded with high damage rounds (quake, right?)
1x Sensor Booster II 1x F90 Sensor Booster
3x Gyro 1x Overdrive
Rigs: All falloff
With level 5 in your scan resolution skills, you can get 1200+ on your scan res with teh two boosters. The falloff rigs should give you the ability to strike out to 20km with 75%+ accuracy.
Yes, its alot of ISK to put into an af with NO ab/mwd or tank. But this fit will guarantee that every shuttle, pod, t1 frigate, adn lightly tanked inty will get smoked. You'll be the toast of any gatecamp, I assure you. ----------------- Friends Forever

So basicly what a Thrasher does... only it costs 7 mill, not 35... and has a 50% more tracking....

I've tried the thrasher, its not as effective. Less scan res, bigger target, slower, and less damage (cant remember if alpha was better). The thrasher would be the poor mans arty wolf, so go for it. ----------------- Friends Forever

If you've got Destroyers 5, the Thrasher is a mean beast indeed.
On topic:
I was thinking about 3x 125mm AC II (Barrage), Rocket II 1mn MWD II, MSE II, Disruptor II, Web II 2x OD II, Nano II 2x Ambit rigs
IIRC, it requires a PG implant to actually fit (is 1 PG short). I was poking at this last night for my Minnie.
Then again, the 1 PG thing may have been on the Sentinel too..
Ed: I think the Nano may have been a Gyro. Dangit. I'll have to go poke around when I get home.

i just cant see tanking the jag at all. Ive solo'd a few frigs with my tankless fit, and they just cant hit me when I put the trackign disrupter on them. The NOS only kills them quicker. OFC, the gyro's are mandatory. The extra DPS allows you to smoke the other guy before he can ptu enough damage on you.
only draw back is you have to run from missle/drone frigs. The former isnt as popular as a year ago, and the latter is going to get kicked in the groin soon...I'd still run from both. ----------------- Friends Forever

I dont have my EFT in front of me, but you may be right. 4x 280's with 3x gyro's vs 7x 280's with 2 gyros (does it need pg mods to do that? be 1x then) I know its less DPS, cause that destroyer has that 25% RoF nerf.
Honestly, the higher scan res and the fact that pressing F1-F4 vs F1-F7, is enough of a reason for me. ----------------- Friends Forever

I believe you can fit:
7x 280mm Arty II 2x Sensor Booster II, Warp Disruptor II 2x Gyro II
And be ok on PG with AWU4. IIRC, this gives you about 1800 alpha.

You need AWU5, just a hair off too and destroyer 5 to get the damage.
With the wolf, you get longer effective range (thrasher: 5.6+11 vs wolf 3.8+17 with a falloff rig) 500 more scan resolution (1673 vs. 2130)and more DPS (192 vs 191, and you only have to press f1-f4) in a faster (171 vs. 60 while loaded with quake), hardier (af v. a destroyer) smaller sig radius ship (33 vs 75)
Granted, you'll have 400 more alpha and the ability to warp disrupt out to 24km. But honestly, I dont think its worth it.
EDIT: My bad, you stated you need awu5 or a pg implant. ----------------- Friends Forever

This is for PVE(AC) only try this setup in PVP and you will not get to kill anyone and probably get killed. First of all this setup is very skill intensive considering its just a jaguar and AF's are pretty unloved.
HIGH- 3x AC 125mm II 1x Rocket Launcher II
MIDS- 1x Monopropellant I Hydrazine Booster 2x Medium Shield Extenders II(win) 1x Stasis Webifer II
LOW- 1x Tracking Enhancer II 1x Gyrosatablizer II 1x MAPC
RIGS- 1x Projectile Burst Aerator 1x Projectile Collision Accelerator
With Rigs installed this leaves me with;
PowerGrid 66.25/66.25 CPU 192.50/200 Shield 3297 Sig Radius 48
The Rigs you can take or leave them as they are the most expensive part of the whole setup. Infact the rigs cost more than everything else put together including the ship! But as its for PVE its O.K. With this setup and the 2x Extenders you really shouldn't be dieing to rats or on any lvl 2 missions. I have encountered no problems with level 2 mission and have done some level 3's.
I know this is an odd setup but I like the fact I can get 2 Extedner II's on there it just screams win and with my gunnery skills and them rigs the damage output is pretty good even for 125mm. To reiterate though this is cheap setup now alot of Tech II is sold for peanuts.
The next setup im going for is an arty ill se how that pans out.

3x SPR II
1x AB II 1x SSE II 1x MSE II 1x Kinetic Deflector II
3x 200mm II 1x Arbalest
2x Purger I
According to EFT that's 103dps with EMP and a total of 2335 Shield HP with 41,56 Shield recharge. 0,9 cap use against 2 cap recharge, so it runs forever.. Pretty tight fitting since it's 53,72 of 53,75 powergrid (AWU 4).
