Originally by: DigitalCommunist Edited by: DigitalCommunist on 09/02/2006 14:04:53 My solution would be to make Command Cruisers require Squadron Command V, then having 3 charisma would be a drawback, instead of a week-long inconvenience before resuming regularily scheduled super-training.
Also compare the fact that Leadership is optional, and that many people will benefit from one person's suffering. Gunnery/Missiles and Spaceship Command are two areas which every combat pilot needs to have trained high. You can get by without Leadership, and thus any sort of reason why Charisma would be desirable, but you can't get around the other two.
Another solution is to introduce auxillary combat skills that would be in the Leadership skill tree, but don't affect anyone but you - and only when you are in a gang. The only idea I have is for combat interface nodes (gunnery interface, missile interface, drones interface) which networks the computers controlling each of your systems to anyone else in the gang using the same weapon, and makes yours better.
For example, someone launches an Ogre II, your interfacing skill which is at lvl 4 gives you another 8% (something small like 2-3 per level) to your Ogre II's velocity. Another person in your gang has a Large Graviton Smartbomb fitted, you get up to 15% less cap use on your Large Graviton Smartbomb.. stuff like that. :/
Its more of a matter of making charisma useful for combat than bloodlines being overpowered imo. Until leadership becomes a "must have" they are going to be overpowered.

So? I have never touched an R&D agent and I am sure that many other players have not either so it only validates what I was trying to say that having an uber science character is not something everyone is going to require. I seem to have gotten by in the game quite nicely for over 2 1/2 years without it and I know many who are the same and never touch R&D agents.
So once again, science is hardly the sole reason to play even and an absolout must for all people to have. That is the point I was making. Because he was talking about R&D doesn't mean a thing because R&D is a part of science anyway isn't it? ------

Well i dont care that the achura can start with science 5... ive always viewed the t2 lottery as a skillpoint sink, and got plenty of cash for my purposes without it. But having said that, science 5 on creation wtf??
Anyway, i do think the achura monk is clearly the best choice.... fact is the best attribute is perc, followed by intel, will, mem, and who cares about charisma (i agree with digi's post with regard to command ships)
the monk gets starting stats of int 8 perc 9 mem 7 will 8 cha 3. with 5 more points to be placed wherever you like.
Thats just the best all round set ive ever seen, and even has the most useful, perc, that bit higher, and the least (not includig cha :P) mem, a bit lower, and thats b4 your 5 extra points.
A lot of people seem to be saying you dont need intel for combat chars, well, i beg to differ, navigation, electronics, engineering, are all important for combat characters.
There are more caldari than the other races as is. This will only increase that divide, im quite suprised ccp cant see this, is as plain as a rich tea biscuit. _________________________

I just noticed, they added in a beard option too... Cool!
Now CCP, how about adding in a scar option? And maybe masks?
Infact, now that we are at it, for Kali, you should be able to change your characters face, limited of course. Make them look happy, sad, whatever for the occasion. Maybe pay 100k ISK for a tattoo change and a couple of thousand of hair color ect.
So you'd be able to change your characters looks. Just not their physical look, like giving them bigger eyes or changing their cheek bones, plastic surgery lol.
You could maybe change your eye color for several million ISK if you really wanted too
Just ideas though. More character flexibility would be nice.
Personaly, I'd like to so mine wear lingerie. But thats just my thoughts

It's public so feel free to add shots of your creations to it. Will probably require a flickr account but you had one already right?
I find the shots are best from in chargen rather than the portraits that actually get spat out when you confirm the character. But that's cos one of the best things in these new bloodlines are the outfits imo.

I know im probably alone with this, but does anyone else think that its a just a little ironic how when a new player comes onto the boards and blurts something along the lines of ôbleh, eve is lame I can never catch up so whatÆs the pointö all (or the majority) of the vets jump in with how little skill points actually matter - which if I can add quickly, is something I agree with. Yet when it comes to the new bloodline attributes and the fact that newer or restarting players might be able to train a bit quicker than previously possible a lot of the older guys jump all over it like the apocalypse is coming...
My intentions aren't to derail this thread into another 'should newbies be able to catch up?' thread, but I just wanted to make the point that maybe some people are over reacting just a little bit?

Secretly we're all just jealous that we never got to have a hot asian chick as our avatar back in 2003. And now our characters are so ingrained into our psyche that for most of us using the portrait switch would be like killing our children.

You attended a CCP party to celebrate the release of Exodus and you got drunk and let the Dev team gangbang you?
No, seriously, I imagine it's something along the lines of: You think Exodus really made EVE a lot worse? And apparently posting like this on the forums makes you feel better...ah well, no rule against that. -------------------------------------[04:04:04] Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk

Yes, that's pretty much accurate. Although my plan wasn't so much to amuse myself as it was to annoy the devs so much that they get confused and make a mistake, such as rolling back the entire server to castor (sans the POS and new UI, which have been the only good things to be released in the last year). ___

Devs, update the existing races with more portraiture, eh? Poor sebiestors get like what... 4 selections on half of their portrait options.
Oh, and to reduce lag... convert portraits to some sort of static image file instead of parts & pieces (examine char portraits in local on an ancient POS machine and you'll see exactly what I mean). Trying to DL & assemble individual portrait settings is extremely taxing on the bandwidth.
