I have a feeling that a member of my corp is mining botting.
We have bumped him out of mining range and 5 minutes later he started mining another asteroid. Multiple Convo's just time out Rarely ever answers in corp chat. "plays" almost all day Best miner in our corp
Is their any other way to see if he is botting?
Since this is technically a crime/against the rules, i thought this would belong here. |

If they are a corp member, warp scramble them when their current asteroid gets low and watch their response. Don't shoot them at all, just scram them. (You can do this in highsec). FRAPS the whole thing.
An at keyboard player will start swearing at you (or if they are really new, ask "Why can't I warp?"). Drop them to 30% structure, then let them go.
An EULA-compliant AFKer will complete mining the current asteroid, then sit there. (You should then pop them when they return to keyboard).
A botter will lock up other asteroids and continue mining.
In addition, report anything sus to CCP via the 'Report Bot' option, but get your own evidence too. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=326497 --áPsychotic Monk for CSM! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. Destroy the ship. No seriously, most bots will keep warping the pod in and out of the belt because they get stuck in a loop. Things are only impossible until they are not. |

on this one. Blow him up and see how long it takes for him to complain. Under 15min and maybe he was mining AFK. More than 15min and he is botting and should be reported. Either way, offer to sell him a permit. Only 10mil isk and good for a whole year assuming he keeps to the Code. "You're a d-bag. But you're a caring d-bag." -- Sindel Pellion

Pod a miner once, you remove a blight from space for a day.
Get one banned for botting, you remove them from space forever. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=326497 --áPsychotic Monk for CSM! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. Only by knowing how bots behave due to program limitation can you see.
However you can always sit on the side of those that say mining in itself is botting and blow him up anyway... you know... Just in case. "I saw him fight by the monument in Jita. He flowed in his Machariel like a Shinto spirit, 800MM shells sprouting in his passing. His hair flowed in the corona of his target's warp core breach. It was truly majestic. And while everyone stared in awe I stole the loot and ran off. Because I am like that." - NEONOVUS |

Why haven't you kicked him out? Sounds like he's a tool of a corpmate. What does he bring to the corp?
I'd say dampen the hell out of him so his rocks are out of range and see if he asks questions or if the ship just moves closer. I don't know the mechanics of bots, but my guess is they'll just move to anything in range. A human would start asking why he can't target anything beyond 5km.
But since he's such a joy to be around I'd just blow his ship up. Worst case scenario is he's just afk and you buy him a new one. Then kick him out for not being a team player and actually talking to his corpmates. |

IDK we are selective when recruiting, and I just naturally assumed most corps were similar. I was just raised in a kind of environment where you don't snitch on your family/crew, no matter how heinous an act they commit. |

That logic is how you survive on the street, not in the world. At some point you grow up and become a member of society. This however is a game, and cheaters make it less enjoyable for everyone. So have fun and blow that miner to bits. |

Hehehe I knew these kinds of posts would follow, and yes, I was 'in' a few years ago ;)
But, I now have a solid career, a house, kids, wife, and all that good stuff. I do, however, teach my kids that if ever they get bullied, cold-**** the bully right in the face, then they will know not to **** with you, rather than go cry to the nearest teacher. It may not be the recommended approach, but I don't really care, I think its the right one.

Full disclosure - I have an alt account that mines mostly afk while I'm playing other accounts. I even go eat dinner with the family while it just sits there in the belt.
So do the code folks pop the afk guys that are clearly not botting, but most likely doing something like eating dinner, talking to thier wives or what ever?
My impression is you guys just pop mining hulls and made up the whole code thing so you could role play it.
So is my non mining exhumer OK in a belt? Obviously not a bot if not mining. Clarification please. |

If they are eating dinner, why are sitting afk at a belt? It takes 2 clicks to dock at a station. |

Previously I had a little bit of respect for you as someone who disagreed with the new order and its goals. After reading this post I lost that. Did you really think even the slightest before coming on the official public Eve Forums and telling someone not to report bots? Botters ruin the game for other miners by driving ore prices down, and making what should be a profitable profession into a mindless grind for pennies. Say what you will about gankers targeting AFK or untanked miners, but don't defend people breaking the EULA in a public space.

It's actually true Leto. I have some newer accounts that I use the mining guy to pay for while they skill up. (though w/ the plex prices this may not be feasable going forward). I think it's a valid question too.
No I won't do 2 clicks to dock - that's crap. I'm going to finish the roids I'm mining and get back to it when I get back to it. There is an obvious difference between a BOT and a guy that just got called to dinner or went to answer a phone or greet his kids coming in the door (and no I'm not looking to debate the difference - code guys are obvious pros at spotting botters, so they know the difference too)
My question (again) If I'm sitting afk in a belt NOT MINING am I gankable by the code guys?
It's a simple question. I'm not looking for tears or discussion. I just want a code guy (able to speak for the group) to say wether they gank afk miners not mining or not. |
