High sec stands for high security. When someone does a crime, should ( really ) pay for it, not just flagged for 15 min and lose some security status.
I know people don't want to relate to real world but I do. When you do a crime, you pay dearly for it. Eve is a game so you won't go to prison but you should pay a lot more for killing a ship in high sec.
A day flagged as a criminal maybe. If you wanna do crimes, at least put some effort in it. Pay a fine to Concord also. 10 mil for a frigate, 50 mil for a freighter. Just an example.
I'm sure it's frustrating having no chance against suicide groups. Even more frustrating that they don't really pay for their crime. |

This is the only thing you got right. EVE is a game about spaceships and there's an enormous amount of work to do on the in-space gameplay before players (or developers) are ready to sacrifice it for a totally new type of gameplay - CCP Rise |

Simple steps to help avoid being ganked in a freighter:
DONT AFK AUTOPILOT.
Watch load value.
Have friends Web you into warp.
LOOK AT KILLBOARDS at systems on your route. 14 freighters ganked in Balle in the last 5 hours? PROBABLY BEST TO AVOID THAT PIPE.
Don't smack talk in local.
Don't run to the forums and cry when you gent ganked. Confirming that you are making yourself a target doing this.
DONT AFK AUTOPILOT.
Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

Concord is inept.
They cant even quell a riot, makeing hi-sec not so "hi-sec."
When the Jita riots broke out, Concord should have had some titans pop in, and firehose the whole crowd.

Its a relative term, if its was called "completely safe sec" then you might have an argument, but its not, learn to eve.

That means one of two things. Either you have an insufficient knowledge of the subject, or the system is intended along those lines. "Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws."

That freighter could be exploded because somebody didn't like competition in his area of trading for example. Or some moron undocked it with war going on. Ever thought of that? I am not my skills but... http://eveboard.com/pilot/Schmata_Bastanold |

The first thing I would suggest he could have done is not violate the only law in highsec that matters.

You got ganked, it happens. You will not find much sympathy on these forums.
A longer flag isn't an entirely bad idea however. Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.-á-á- William Pitt |

Would be interesting if the penalties reflected the crime more effectively. Maybe if a criminal flag's duration depended on the value of the target ganked. Not saying it would be a good idea, but it's an interesting one.
As it is, irl, they wouldn't send someone to prison for 20 years for drug possession and let a murderer out after 5. /irony Maxim 34: If you're leaving scorch-marks, you need a bigger gun. |
