How can you lose multiple interceptors and a HAC, and lots of T2 equipment, but end up with 60m isk total? I give you a rough estimate: You're so full of it.

il forgive you as your a new char (benefit of the doubt)
But podbase gives values based on base price of the ships, Like yam said, its there in black and white. feel free to check it.
Not everyone pays market price for ships and equipment.

In that case I'd like to buy a couple dozen HACs from you. 17m for a Deimos sounds about right. Hell, i'll even be nice and allow you to charge a 100% markup for them. Where can I pick my ships up?

I highly request that any mention to kill count/costs not be spoken aloud, and left within one's head. The truth is that both sides still has plenty of money, and plenty of ships, and we all had a good time, so nobody cares :)
That said, may I extend a very warm "Good Fight" to every member of KARN, they did not disappoint in any means. Friendly chat that never (de)evolved into smacktalk is a breath of fresh air, and I wish you well against whomever you choose as new friends

hey nublet, people have friends, people have production corps, people have friends in production corps. you do not. this is why you cannot get cheap stuff. now hush and let the war carry on.

A lot of people in Eve seem to have absolutely no concept of opportunity cost.
Yes, if you know the right people you can buy a HAC cheap.
No, that doesn't mean the HAC is worth less when somebody pops it. If they hadn't popped it you could have sold it for its market value and used the isk.
Imagine you won the lottery. You get given fifty million dollars (yay!). You use the money to buy a giant yacht. When you take the yacht out to sea it gets sunk by pirates.
When the yacht sinks you do not lose the $2.50 you spent on the lottery ticket, you lose the fifty million dollars you could have sold the super yacht for if you'd got it back to port. It's true, the 50 million only cost you $2.50 to gain, but that doesn't change the fact that you had fifty million and now you've lost it.
When you buy a HAC from a friend at cost or near-cost prices you win (by virtue of your friendship) almost the full market value of the HAC (or more precisely, you win the market value of the HAC minus the price your friend charges you for it). That is free value that has fallen in your lap. If someone comes along and blows up the HAC you lose that margin. You no longer enjoy the opportunity of selling the HAC and making one or two hundred million isk. You have lost [<market value of HAC> - <friend price>], which from what I've seen is usually dozens or hundreds of millions of isk per ship.
Maybe you never had any intention of selling the HAC, but that doesn't change the accounting aspect of it.

funny enough, i did econ, and we covered opportunity costs. the fact that opportunity cost is WAY to fluid to be a calculated in the equation for whats been lost. build cost IS unfortunately the fairest way to do it.

So in that case the sigil that I lost after building with minerals I got from npc rats, cost me the ammo used less the bounty gained plus the factory cost.
Hmmm my sigil loss actually gained me money! Maybe you should apply for a job at Enron they value creative accounters of your calibre very highly.

do you even understand what the 2 posts about this mean? or are u just geneerally trying to flame and look smart? If its the latter it hasnt worked.
If you READ the post i was replying to we were discussing opportunity cost, a variable number. i stated that mineral cost is fairer because it has a much more stable price and every ship uses a minimum amount of minerals.
oh yeah if you understood ANYTHING about economics you slap yourself for talking about accountancy in the same sentence
economics != accounting

Why is always those that are constantly climbing further and further up the stupid tree that feel it necessary to call everyone else stupid?
Oh and Id love to know why knowing anything about economics precludes one from mentioning accounting in the same sentence. It was you that stated build cost is the fairest way of estimating loss, when numerous people have shown you the folly of your thinking. I simply stated my build cost was a negative figure, and admittedly, sarcastically followed your thinking to turn a loss into a positive. If you want to carry on kidding yourself, dont let me stand in your way, you seem to have it down to a fine art.

why is it that u can somehow deduce me calling you stupid when it was never mentioned. I highlighted the pointless sarcasm in your post.
If you understood econ you would realise why putting accounting in the same sentence doesnt work.
If you can formulate a much better way of caluculating loss then by all means inform me. If not i suggest you stop talking.
And by and large it IS the fairest way, or should i put it 'the lesser of two evils'. its not perfect but it works, is this so hard to understand?

dude, 'pvping' is not what they do from day one, i think you'll find mining is what they do, and throwing hundreds of tech 1 frigs at a target until it goes down is very much removed from what im talking about.
ANYONE can throw ships at a target till it goes down, its pvp at the lowest denominator.
What im saying is goon STILL need to show people respect as everyone else does. The lack of it is disturbing.

Learning how to align in gangs, the necessity of TS, how to tackle, how to sort your overview for PVP, this is what newbs do from day one.
It takes mere weeks to get into a t1 cruiser and be able to solo and small gang pvp with it if you know the basics. You learn the rest from there.

Think this topic would be better of if the so called winners of the war would leave it at that .. Arguing about the isk back and forth only proves that, Elite is something you need to prove on the forums aswell .. Forged in war and etc .. leaves me to belive you got something to prove and proving it agianst goonswarm lol

Yes it does. If someone spends 30mil to buy a HAC and t2 fittings, when it pops they're down 30mil.
Yes they COULD sell it, but for some money isn't an option, and tbh, if I could buy HACs at that price from people I'd probably be too busy having fun in PK (losing them ) to care what the bat**** insane market markup is. If I spend 30mil and lose the ship, then I've only lost 30mil, not 200mil. You don't lose isk you've never had.
edit: And if your friends find you're taking the HACS they sell you at discount, to sell them on the market, you're going to be down a friend very soon.
