Isn't it fairly amusing that the first Legit titan kill happened a mere two days after Revelations II was introduced?
From the explanations that I've heard, it sounds like the pilot used his DD too early, and was stuck in place for 10 minutes- long enough for wrecks and bubbles to be spammed around him, and taken out by the Goons and RA...
How do you think this will effect Titan warfare from now on? I for one think that titans will become even more valuable than before, because their risk-reward ratio has been significantly changed in favor of risk.

The titan is now a very expensive 1-shot glass cannon. As we can see, useless with poor planning.

Titans will now no longer be very usable when outnumbered; they'll become a tool of the blob, rather than a blob breaker.

Pretty much. Even carriers have their own version of siege mode to protect them in a gang situation, titans seem to have been somewhat left out.

I think titans wont be used quite as much w/o MASSIVE blob support to lag out the node.
It would be a nice circular irony of BoB wants to use a titan and blobs support for it causing massive lag to make the node stutter causing warping and fleet problems causing the loss of the titan they are blobing to protect.
Either way.. this wont be the last titan kill.. but it is nice that finally its possible to kill 1 with someone actually flying it.
Just to verify: A titan DDD's and is unable to cyno out for 10 minutes.. This effectivly locks it into the system if the enemy fleet can bubble the outgoing gates and track him down in said system?
P.S. Titans and Motherships should NOT be able to fit a cloak.. PERIOD ------------ This is not War... This is pest control - Dalek Sek

I believe the value of Titans will shift from their first use ("solo BFG 9000") to their second (command vessel in really big fleets). As I understand, the bonuses that a Titan can bestow unto fleet members are quite significant, so the more ships benefit from it, the more useful the Titan becomes.
And think about it: If Shrike had had a bigger fleet with him to support him in this battle, I am sure that RA/Goonswarm would have had significantly more trouble taking him down.
The Doomsday Device will be moving away from the I Win Button style and more towards a tactical decision (as you have pointed out, firing the DD early was a mistake).
That said, despite their great public awareness factor, there are so few Titans around that it will be a while before there is any semi-reliable data on the exact effects of the patch. After all, you cannot deduce from a single Amarr PvP encounter that the EANM nerf was or was not the solution to their more or less severe problems.

I know not a great deal of Titans and so i may be speculating pretty much on my assumptions.
Titans are more than just an oversized Battleship (or pwnmobile as is referred). They give huge gang bonuses, and have logistic capabilities that make them a useful tactical tool on the battlefield.
Also Titans as i see have high slots which can be fitted with something else other than smartbombs and Doomsday devices. Guns can be used there (ok i don't have the pleasure to fit a Titan so far, so i don't really know if that is feasible). The changes hopefully will force the alliances and people that have Titans in their possession, to fit guns remote reppers etc.
Bringing them more in their new role of advanced Field & Fleet command ships they are, in my opinion of course. Doomsday device is a choice that was overpowered and riskless (the remote detonation thing). There are other choices of fitting and roles that a Titan can fill i think, and these choices haven't been used or haven't been used extensively.

It was 180 vs 10. If the 180 had lost, people would be saying it was too strong. It takes dozens of dictor pilots, dozens of dreads, and a hundred support ships to take out a titan and all of the sudden, they're glass cannons?

Well I dunno about you, but if my side has such crappy odds, I wouldn't have thrown a titan into the fray in the first place.

that particular carrier module is also known as the suicide module, all it does is help the opposition totally hose your cap to zero making you die faster.

Aye, you'll forgive me if I put off training for the triage module for a while, it was an amazing idea but they screwed it up badly. You're meant to run the same class of tank as a dreadnought on less capacitor AND run capital remote reps and transfers? And what exactly is with the requirement of level 5 in a Tech 2 ship skill rather than an engineering or mechanic skill? And to top it all off, you lose all offensive abilities when using it.

You sort of proved my point there. With poor planning, the Titan becomes a glass cannon, as we all saw. It shot, it killed, it got killed because the support fleet sucked.
If a Titan pops a DDD after Rev II, it becomes a delicious target, simply because it's stuck for ten minutes. Meaning it now needs a large support fleet to live or it's a large glass cannon.

That is excellent.
If it keeps up at this rate, we can get back to real fights in a few months and forget about this horrible crap.
On another note: It's good to see the pets (even the ones that swear they are independant) waving the WE DIDNT WANT THAT ******* TITAN ANYWAY flag.
Edit: I have a feeling bob will start using all their titans in one place at one time, this will be hilarious.

welld one on the kill tbh but now the ballgame rules have changed people will adapt and im pretty sure bob will have already done that.

....Ya know this is kinda idiotic. Whoever uses the titan as a warship after Rev2 should get their head examined. Titans have nice logistic capabilites sure they have doomsdays but i always considered them defensive weapons rather than a nuclear warhead. I would rather have a titan for its logistic potential especially after the carrier hit. This is more damage to supply lines than offense. Sure they take a crap load to beat down but why risk it after this patch?
To the nutjob who lost it i hope you can find a new corp. I figure you been kicked already especially if you couldnt hold your load long enough. To those who fragged it. Well done.

I'm obviously not a titan pilot, but with proper tactics shouldnt they still be able to nuke a grid without needing to fear anything but lag? Previously the tactic was to load the ship with cap rechargers/flux coils and jump a few seconds after blowing your load, but now you need to wait 10m before you can jump and you can be tackled by dictors, so there will need to be new tactics.
I would think the best option for a titan to escape after firing the weapon is to warp to a safe and cloak to wait out the 10m timer.
So to prevent the tackle you drop the cyno as far from the fleet as possible while still in DDD "range" (aka grid), and fit the titan for "fast" alignment. I don't know how "fast" a nano-titan (LOL!!) can get to warp, but as long as it aligns faster than it takes a dictor to fly 250km+ the titan should be able to get away, right?

Yes I just crawled out of some rock I was underneath and after some frantic searching I cant find what I'm looking for (probably just overlooking it in my haste), but um, who lost a titan, and of what race was the titan?
And who blew it up? -----------------
Its "the" by the way, not whatever the made up use of letters "teh" means. |
