A player should be able to unlearn a skill and gain some amount of that back in faster training.
For example if I wanted to unlearn large energy turret 5 I would gain some amount of double training time. The amount of bnonus training time would enable me to earn back 50-75% of the SP I lost.
The reason for this is enabaling pilots to quickly refocus into a new ship required by there alliance...but at a cost.
Doing so would also help some the SP bloat currently in EvE.
Need more-ádecent content a casual player can access in a 1-2h play period that is actually fun and contributes to long term personal and corp goals. This applies to PvE and PvP. |

No.
Here in Eve your actions have consequences, so if you mess up your char its your problem. There are volumes written on the net which skills are needed for certain "profession" in Eve, and there are forums and help chat channel in the game to ask for questions.

It'll never happen, it is completely against the philosophy of Eve (there are consequences to your actions). |

So an alliance shitfs from using abbaddons to maelstrom and no one wants to be able to shift over to the new ship faster?
No one thinks that unlearning is a consiquence and a net SP loss in not a consiquence?
Not asking to just give SP back so a player can swap points whilly nilly and traning means nothing. Would you give up a skill if you only gained some of those SP back and it stilll took time to even train back the ones you did lose? it is not a consquence free choice.

That alliance should stop making dumb decisions without thinking of its members, or it should lose members due to its decision. In either case, HTFU and stop using personal situational needs to justify game mechanic changes.
In another train of thought, there will be some kind of one-time partial skillpoint reassignment thing (as per the CSM Summit Minutes) at some point in the future due to the enormous changes in the mechanics of the game (rebalancing of everything). That is not for the purpose of letting you fly Maelstrom blobs, but for letting people pull out of things they don't want to fly again because of changed mechanics (e.g. supercaps). |

Just noting when fleet types change many players require a long winde up time to swap over(especially to t2) I'd never unlearn a skill to get some of the SP back to train something else...chances are i'll need that toher skill at some point....just noting some may want that ability.

No. we don't want people to be able to flit from one FOTM fit to another with almost no consequences for their choices. Training something is a commitment, that SP can't be earnt back. That's how it should stay. |

I'm tempted to call BS. I can't speak for your motives, but I'm certain that most people who post ideas in F&I (including myself) have something to profit from those ideas. I posted a thread about buffing Sansha ships because I would like to fly them but they suck as they are currently. I suspect you posted this because you would like to respec but that is impossible.

Allowing any sort of skill remapping, even if it is just via "reduced training time" encourages homogeneity of "flavor of the month" fits.
How many people do you think would have transferred SP from autocannons to blasters due to recent changes? Do you know what that would have done to the numbers of Taloses or Daredevils or other popular ships out there? Space would become a boring place where everyone flies the same thing "because it's good". Doesn't matter if it's only Dramiels, only Drakes, or only Taloses, it just gets horrible.
One-time skillpoint remaps/refunds for massively changed ship classes (like supercaps) limit the impact of FotM, but anything that is recurring or at the option of the player is an absolute "no". |

So you want to encourage faster FOTM swapping.
Get out with that terrible idea. |

I do believe his idea for new characters is a solid one. Granted its stupid in a sense but the problem is Eve is a very hard game. For us older chars, we don't care cose we have trained most of basic skills, not for the new players tho. Eve maybe a damn good game but its seriously unfair for the new kid in the block. Giving a 1 year character the ability to trade trained sp out for a different sp skills for his first year can help them greatly.
They wont be able to skill faster than anyone, but they can change the skills when required in a major alliance. At least for a set period untill deemed experience enough in eve |

They wont be able to skill faster than anyone, but they can change the skills when required in a major alliance. At least for a set period untill deemed experience enough in eve Skills trained in the first year are not going to be anything super-significant at all, and most of them will be fitting / navigation / combat skills that apply to all ships, regardless of later career choices.
On the other hand, if they went through a year of mining and suddenly decide to switch to PvP because their transferred SP would let them hop straight into a Hurricane / Drake / whatever other FotM, that is not okay. Nobody should skip moving up the combat ship progression, for their own good. When someone who has never flown frigates tries to fly a battlecruiser or battleship, the result is an utter, utter abomination.
And again, alliance SP / ship requirements are not worthy reasons for game mechanic changes. |

I retract this sugestion.
Upon further thought; i thought this would help lower SP pilots fit in with alliance FOTM.
But as with any change this would benifit the vets more... a vet has no use for this but an alliance would mandate that players fly x ship within a week and the players with less SP and thus who use this proposed feature would lose SP each time they do this and have a harder time reaching a higher SP level as the more vetran players who do not need to re skill.
