Thanks for the replies. I was apparently in near brain-dead status at the time and didn't read the mission details thoroughly. The ships were 'Republic' and not CONCORD and were indeed supposed to show up. Sorry for the confusion.

D'oh! You guys were right. I guess my brain was close to putty at the time and I didn't read the mission briefing clearly. They were 'Republic' vessels that blew me out of the water, errr space. I fitted a new frigate and had another go at them ...
