Ok, I think we're talking past one another - I've been running without it for a long time, and running without proper widescreen support causes "stretching" of the image, so the widescreen option takes care of the FOV. I don't know about aspect ra...

No that's the problem - I'm on a SyncMaster 206BW, 1680:1050 resolution ingame and out of the game.

Well, I don't understand why they can't just fix at least the two black bars covering the bottom and top in the next patch, I've got a feeling that the fish-eye effect will be harder to remove for some reason.

Just tested it. I was wrong about the field of view. Still, it retains those two annoying black bars that cover most of the top and bottom of the screen, and there's still the fish-eye effect.
