1. Any point in mining Veldspar? - in Science and Industry [original thread]
Exactly. It's random. No amount of "grooming" is going to give you a belt of only the types of asteroids that you want. Do you know why? Because some guy like me is going to come along and pop every single asteroid in that belt, therefore negating...

2. New player, fun game, hopelessly lost. - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
DPS isn't everything. More tank, less gank is what's needed sometimes. And as far as mining goes, it's very profitable, even in high sec. Nothing you've done in those WoW clone games will have prepared you for EVE Online. Welcome.

Yes, it's worth mining Veldspar. It's worth mining everything, actually. I mine a specific belt and I don't stop until there is nothing left on the overview. Apparently there are still some miners out there who believe in the myth that you can "g...

9. How might I have fun while mining? - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
There are a few ways to have fun while mining. Even though I'm an avid miner, I must admit that there are entirely too many damn miners in high sec. If you find that others are constantly encroaching on your territory, or are obviously AFK or bot...

Mission NPC's don't warp scramble (2 points). Mission NPC's do, however, warp disrupt (1 point), which does not affect an MWD or MJD in any way. Having said that, an afterburner is all you really need on a Drake for L3's. Use drones to pop the wa...

How is an Orca only profitable with 4 to 6 retrievers? And why are your miners only getting 1,237 m3/min with Retrievers? I mine with 2 Skiffs and 1 Orca. Each Skiff pulls in over 1,600 m3/min (and that's without mining drones) and net me around ...
