Well, I upgraded to Catalyst 4.11, and I haven't had much trouble since. (ATI Radeon 9200, btw)

I'm having the same problem. I have a Radeon 9200. I noticed that the game just crashes to the desktop instead of freezing when in full-screen mode. That makes it a lot easier to log back in.
