Pretty sure the person who made it saw it.

That was pretty neat (and kinda relaxing ) for an intro, but I hope it's not the official trailer.
Needs more butt-kickery, like "No Other Destiny", for a trailer release.
Actually, the new intro doesn't mention New Eden's history at all. Don't like that. _______

I like it, it represents more of what eve has become. Which is definitely something CCP never imagined in the first place. This serves at least in my opinion that CCP recognizes what eve has become and is starting to capitalize on it. The only real thing that irks me is the "pilot" at the end.. kinda ruins it for me, i would rather it just say "Dare to be Bold".

Re-using material they've already shown (like that fight where amarr open fire on the gallente station) and having the video pretty relaxed pretty much says "Damn, we've run out of material...". Besides the negative criticism, the video is pretty good Very nice and fitts well into beeing a intro movie (It's not a trailer.) --------------------

Whilst I like this video, I feel it needs to be much longer if it's to be the introduction video to a boxed edition of the game. There's little "feel" for the different races, (why isn't that rifter on fire for example?) and there's no real "meat" to the video.
It's very pretty and quite atmospheric, but it really does have the feel of an initial draft. Huge improvement over the original video, but you've left out elements of the original that really should still be included - racial descriptions, the backstory of the eve universe and so on. ---

A comparison with the old intro is not relevant: they obviously do not have the same role. The old one is full of info about where you are going to land, the new one is just "come, its great". If the learning curve after that is smoother with the revamped noobie mission arcs, and if all the relevant background info is there, it's a good intro.
If the background just disappear and people can arrive not knowing that amarr are pious and heartless slavers that are to be shot at on every occasion, this is a problem... (^^)

Wow can't dissagree more... The first intro movie was full of artistic paintings which pretty much fitted right into the story telling role. I didn't learn anything from this video, i had seen pretty much all the scenes before and what was being said were out of place since she's talking about something the newer players will know nothing about.
More background information, less reused scenes, 400% more creativity than fading scenes containing small ships doing absolutely nothing. The scenes were only good for a buildup, which left us dissapointed in the end.
First CCP video to dissapoint me. :(

Highlighted the reason why I really disliked the original intro video, and why I feel this one is potentially much, much better. As for your points about a buildup, I couldn't agree more: I felt like it was building to some huge combat scene, but it never happened.
What this needs:
More pew-pew More backstory ---

Try character creation for more on the races. There are some awesome vids that go with the current voiceovers on sisi.

Uhm, it's an intro video for new players, not a trailer. It's supposed to give new players a brief intro to Eve before they make their characters. I don't think new players should get an action-packed video with loud electronic music and non-stop explosions. That's the kind of thing that goes in trailers. Players would see that and probably assume that the game is only about combat.
I like it because it explains to new players that:
1) Players are capsuleers and thus, demi-gods, rather than a regular guy who managed to save up enough money to buy a frigate. 2) It's a competitive game. 2) There are many things one can do in this game, not just grinding monsters for loot like most MMOs.
Some of the video clips are cool also.

Wait... So the backstory video is being cut entirely so the new character creation can explain the backstory and difference between races?

Replace the Rifter that flies across the screen at "commanding the most powerful machines ever built" with a Dominix or Nightmare and then I might like it. I couldn't stop giggling after that part long enough to pay much attention. ---

Backstory and storylines in general are stupid. Honestly, why do developers even waste time writing background information? No one ever reads it or cares about it. Why even waste time making an intro video? Just dump the idiots into the game and let them figure it out on their own. _________________

Some people actually enjoy being immersed in a different universe every now and then. It's called "escapism." If they were to follow your line of thinking, why don't they just remove all the graphics and replace them with different colored dots? After all, no one really looks at or cares about the way the game looks, they just want to shoot other stuff for no reason!
Oh wait...

That's all my roommate cares about. He quit EVE when he finished reading every bit of backstory and every chronicle, and roleplay no longer gave him anything new.

Was trying to decided what exactly that meant to you... decided I really didnt want to know, since you cant tell whether you consider that to be a good thing or a bad thing from your phrasing. We CAN, however determine that you have tried it, or you wouldn't be able to use the word confirm.
