Edited by: big miker on 17/02/2009 20:54:45 Hi there.
I've recently started to fly a tempest and i've tryed a few different setups ( On EFT and the test server ).
I've got up to a setup which i really like and this is how it looks like:
( Gang fit ) Highs: - 6x 650 MM Ac's II - 1x L remote armor repper - Heavy neut / nos / L remote armor repper
Meds: - 2x Large Shield Extender II - 1x invun field II - 1x heavy cap booster / 100nm mwd - 1x warp disruptor / webber / eccm
Lows: - 3x 1600mm rolled tungsten plates ( or 2 plates and 1 gyro ) - 1x true / amarr navy EANM - 1x dmg control II - 1x gyro II
Drones: 2x heavy 2x med 1x light
Rigs: 3x trimark.
Note that this fit is for gang warfare! It has a great amount of HP's and still a decent amount of damage and rr capability.
Is it any good?
Edit: used for low-sec / 0.0 small BS gang roams

Yes, but it's important that we know where you plan to run this setup at. And after all this time, I finally removed that annoying sentence in my signature.

I'd highly suggest you fit a MWD on there.

Usually people buffer tank in order to free up either some low or some mid slots for E-war or tackle, or damage mods. You managed to come up with a fit that delivers all the meager advantages of a buffer tank (no cap use, no module to activate) with none of the useful benefits realized (no e-war, no tackle, no damage).

Please dont double tank. Something like this would work:
[Tempest, PVP] Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Damage Control II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
100MN MicroWarpdrive II Warp Disruptor II Heavy Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 800 Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I Tracking Disruptor II, Tracking Speed Disruption or ECCM
Dual 650mm Repeating Artillery II, Barrage L Dual 650mm Repeating Artillery II, Barrage L Dual 650mm Repeating Artillery II, Barrage L Dual 650mm Repeating Artillery II, Barrage L Dual 650mm Repeating Artillery II, Barrage L Dual 650mm Repeating Artillery II, Barrage L Heavy Unstable Power Fluctuator I Heavy Unstable Power Fluctuator I
Projectile Ambit Extension I Projectile Ambit Extension I Projectile Ambit Extension I
Valkyrie II x5
Go trimarks if you want but this also kills the speed. Imply or Implode?
There are many Duffman, don't tell the children... It's disillusioning!

Heh well, thanks for the reply's so far, some nice fits out there. Problem with me is is that I've always flown amarr BS's, so i'm used to alot off HP's.
I hate having a low amount of hp's most of the time. But guess i'll have to change my mind

Since you've got a remote rep on your fit, I'll go out on a limb and conclude that it's intended to be part of a battleship spider tank...
In which case, try this. Personally I wouldn't touch the 'pest as anything except a sniper - 'phoon is generally better for this kind of game, but here goes.
[Tempest, New Setup 1] Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
100MN MicroWarpdrive II Stasis Webifier II Warp Scrambler II Heavy Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 800 Tracking Computer II, Tracking Speed
800mm Repeating Artillery II, Republic Fleet EMP L 800mm Repeating Artillery II, Republic Fleet EMP L 800mm Repeating Artillery II, Republic Fleet EMP L 800mm Repeating Artillery II, Republic Fleet EMP L 800mm Repeating Artillery II, Republic Fleet EMP L 800mm Repeating Artillery II, Republic Fleet EMP L Heavy Unstable Power Fluctuator I Large 'Arup' I Remote Bulwark Reconstruction
Trimark Armor Pump I Trimark Armor Pump I Trimark Armor Pump I
Ogre II x2 Hammerhead II x2 Hobgoblin II x1
Like I said, though, the 'pest really isn't a great choice. You've got less damage and considerably less HP than a comparable Mega, even if you don't have the CPU issues of that boat. A 'phoon can have more HP, while having a lot of useful slots for reps and neuts and still dealing decent damage. Only thing is, you need the torp skills for that :P
But in general, there's a reason why my corp's battleships gangs consist almost entirely of 'ddons and Megas... -

As a Bs pilot who has flown alot of different BS's in alot of different fights, I would say the Tempest lacks in both DPS and in tank. Great tackle potential.
Phoons put up a better fight and when it comes to plate tanking they can do the job.

It can fit an EHP tank comparable to most other BS's and its DPS is good considering it has a capless weapons system. Its strong points are the two free highslots and 5 free mids, I consider the Tempest to be an excellent BS.

or dual remote repair with 1 eccm in mids, good old support for bs gangs.

The problem with prejected ECCM is that you're still screwed if YOU get jammed. So use more ECCM on your own ship first, then maybe use a projected ECCM or two.

My setup:
6x 650mm's (best named atm, but soon T2 just waiting on large Proj 5) 2x heavy nuets/remote reps
MWD Web Point heavy cap booster ECCM (swap for sensor boost when gate camping)
2x gyro (swap one gyro for large rep when camping) EAMN II Damage control II 2x 1600MM
3x trimarks
5x Hammerheads 5x warrior
Works pretty well so far :P |
