When a rocket hits a ship and the ship starts rolling around becuz of the hit does the ship loose its aligement for examplen when it tries to warp away? and does it screw up the tracking as well?

yes the ship does, get hit by a constant stream of missiles and you may not be able to warp away before your completly screwed. not sure if it messes tracking, but it probably does. ----------------

yer and its annoying as hell.
yes this is a purely gameplay reason, missles do enough damage already (that opinion is up to discussion ofc) but theres no reason, they should kick ya around and act like a scrambler at no extra cost, and one thats undefeatable like a real scrambler..... (ok so you might use smartbombs, but still i dont read prevents a ship from warping in any missle descritpions or design ideas......and i certainly dont like this "feature"........quite unlike using oversized abs for mwds.........)
All of above post was formulated wth 100% honesty and 100% sarcasm. Now i only need to get drunk
The 3rd turret is the Malediction is missing. Plz make as much noise as possible so that CCP gets us a remedy for that, possibly before X-Mas this year. |

actually there is a reason they should move you around, its like getting hit by a really really fat kid, no **** its gonna knock you around. its an object colliding with you, so it pushes you a bit... i dunno if that makes any sense but it does in my head^$!%%^@!

hehe, Indeed it should push you around... ;) but i was just thinking mostly if it distorts the tracking on the turrets :P

Throw a rock at a mountain its gonna bounce off (much like a turret hitting a ship)
Throw a rock with some c4 at a mountain its gonna make neat little explosion. Is that explosion not enough to move a ship a little in space? --

1400 howitzers fire artillery shells the size of family cars (maybe even people carriers or 4x4's) you could use the same argument to say that 1400's should knock ships about and stop em from warping.
Imho they should fix it and limit warp disrupting to modules that were actually intended to do it in the first place. . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.

Well if non of you know physics so in space every little thing can basicly move a mountain or in this case a battleship... but i hope that they have deflectors and so on, but a explosion at the size of a small atomic bomb should basicly move a battleship.

Edited by: Cutter John on 09/08/2004 00:14:54 its due to the collision models in the game... the battleship isnt being tossed around by the explosion, its being moved because the missile collision model ran into the bs collision model. its the same thing that happens if you run a frigate through a battleship, the bs slows down and turns.
and no, it doesnt affect tracking at all... only the velocity of your ship and the velocity of the target affect that. your ship spinning around or rolling wont affect the tracking.
and missiles should only push around ships if turrets do as well.. a 1400 hitting a frigate doesnt move the frigate, so a missile shouldnt be able to either. projectiles and hybrids also dont move the ship that fired them...

when a rocket hits my ship in space, does my ship wobble around or does the whole universe wobble?
think about that one...
there is a fine, but dissasterous line between a fart and a shart. i suggest you make sure which side you want to be on... |

Edited by: Shade Widow on 09/08/2004 16:14:41 Keep the missiles bouncing ships around but make it so the smaller missiles only affect smallers ships. Hit a frig with a light missile its gonna shake a bit. Hit a battleship and it takes damage but other than that Nada. ---

Ideally:
- medium turrets disrupt frigates wrap alignment when armor/structure is hit. - large turrets always disrupt frigate alignment. - large turrets disrupt cruiser wrap alignment when armor/structure is hit and don't when hitting shield - battleship warp alignment is nerver disrupted by turret hits.
- rockets never disrupt warp alignment - small missiles disrupt warp alignment when hitting frigates' armor/structure and don't when hitting their shields. Have no effect on bigger ship classes. - heavy and cruise missiles disrupt warp alignment when hitting cruisers' armor/structure and don't when hitting their shields. No effect on bs. - torpedoes disrupt warp alignment when hitting bs' armor/structure and don't when hitting their shields. No effect on [whatever is bigger around here, maybe Tomb's ships :D].
That would be both fairly balanced and realistic, imho :)

I still think rockets would affect some types of frigates. ---
