I know a lot of it is to do with the wormholes, but why haven't more probe types just been added to existing ones? I also can't see the point of a change with things like scan time / sensor strength. Would someone be so kind as to explain why these changes are being made?

How has the changes solved this then?
Maximum scan time is now 10 seconds, and most of the difficulty is now in probe placement (skill), rather than blind luck.

old system was a real timesink. The new one will hopefully be a lot more fun to use. Even with my covert ops, rigs, etc it still took a bit long

Old system also required rl player skill for probes placement, so nothing new there. And timesink was actually a good thing - it was preventing too many ppl to do exploration business. But soon all those `gimme all and gimme fast` impatience kids will ruin the whole thing

I`d be glad if that`s true. But I am afraid there won`t be much more of "thinking" than before, if any. Everything will be just faster and I don`t like it.

seems they took out the thinking and the time sink and replaced with fiddling with small and hard to click on icons till it works.....

I find the icons easy to use and intuitive. But whatever, the old system was a combination of having 50M bookmarks in a system + months of SP invested + blind luck. The new system is more about probe placement. It's still stupid easy once you figure it out but atleast there is some actual player involvement unlike the current system. Pity you can't tinker with it on SISI anymore, they broke the map about a month ago and it hasn't worked since .

Is there any official documentation from CCP on the "changes" suggested in this thread? I've checked dev logs, read articles, and haven't found anything nearly as specific as what's suggested here, such as new skills. If there will be new skills, what are they? And what are the prereqs?
