Don't worry about that. Most kids have ADD, this game is so anti ADD. They might hang out for a month or so , but in the end most the kids will run away crying 'the game is just too hard!'

Edit: is there anything special in the retail box? Like a large poster or something?
You're not the only one, I will probably buy a boxed version just to support CCP and to have a cool box.
Also dislike Steam cause I like to have a something physical.

Can we get a set of sticky threads in General discussion:
"unfair because you can never catch up?"
"wtf is it called hi-sec if it's not safe?"
"can't find PvP flag setting"

I'm not even betting one unit of Trit on that one.

That was worth a laugh :). That is so going to happen.
As part of the initiation into EVE, newbies ought to be shown the heat map of ships lost in the last 24 hours. To prepare them for the loss of their own ship. What about an appropriate marketing blurb: "In New Eden you -take- what you want. If you can keep it, it's yours." Now that would be honest. To CCP: if you want to use that very unoriginal idea, you certainly have my permission.

This is interesting...
However, I plan to keep a low profile on the forums for a while after the box release, only helping those who ask "sensible questions" (Newbs asking which titan is best need not apply). ===================================== It smells of spoon! ===================================== |

Edited by: Jabezhane on 22/02/2009 17:23:30 Is this really a good idea? I remember seeing the bargain bins full of Eve boxes back around 2004/5.
I bought one for 2 for a cheap months intro all those years ago.
Bargain bins ahoy again.......

That "expensive tv commercial" thing made me think of something...EVE Online + Superbowl Ad.
i wonder what effects that would have, if any. -------

Hell, just make a giant inflaitable Hyperion and have it fly over a game, shooting cans of beer out of its turrets, and youd have THOUSANDs of hits on the webpage INSTANTLY, sadly most of them will be either people looking to sue, as they got hit in the head/genetials by a can of beer falling at a few tens of miles per hour. Or they will be ranting that their 9 year old got drunk and punched out the quater back of their team, thus throwing the game and they lost hundreds of dollars in bets. ~~~~~

Cut and paste from Play.com - # Special retail box version extras:
# 60-days Game Time - Useable by both new and current players. # Instant War Access - Retail box buyers will receive an in-game certificate that will give them instant access to Factional Warfare, while other users have to spend considerable time earning the right to fight for the factions. # Career Guide - For the first in the history of EVE, CCP will offer players goals in the form of what career they want to pursue and the inside advice on how to get there. # VIP Pass - Players are told how they can invite their friends and give them VIP Access to EVE Online in the form an extended trial and if the friend becomes a subscriber the player will get 30-days of free game time added to their account. # Special Edition Ship - Players will get an exclusive ship in-game. It is special type of a shuttle that is ideal to move things around due to much increased cargo space.
Anyone know if this means you can repair faction standings on an existing character by buying a box version of the game? Sig nerfed by ccp |
