Our illustrious bug hunting team is looking for intrepid volunteers to help squash those mean little critters that make life in EVE Online a pain in our asteroids. If you're interested in helping out, then you'd be remiss if you didn't read CCP Ginger's newest blog. Find out how you can sign up here.

Yes, pee shark. AKA hkarl. It is an extremely pungent "delicacy." Sharks don't have kidneys, so they store their urine in their flesh. Icelanders bury the flesh to ferment it, then eat it and chase it with Brennevin. A person who eats this is said to be a true viking.
I am not a true viking. Thank god.

About the bit where it says you're looking for linguists to localize Eve... I do hope you're never going to translate it into Dutch, it's a mistake some games have made before so let me warn you. Any game, or movie, you translate into Dutch becomes childish by default. Dutch gamers tend to hate it when it happens. Lionhead once did it with their game Black and White, and they received a flood of angry comments about it. Don't make the same mistake.
Just thought I'd give you the heads up.

It's an Icelandic delicacy that I refused, this escalated into one GM and one QA person (double my size) grabbing me and attempting to force 'pee-shark' down my throat. Thankfully I prevailed and no pee-shark was eaten! gathering by the small audience that gathered to watch this spectacle I assume fun was had by all.. apart from me.
P.s. Zhainius NO YOU WONT MAKE ME EAT IT THIS YEAR.

EVE works perfectly fine by using Cider from Transgaming, or are you saying that it dosent work well enough? If thats the case then by all means apply to ECAID and become one of our Mac testers, we are always looking to improve the Mac side of things and give Transgaming feedback to improve performance.

I was wondering, when you get the job, do you hunt bugs specifically or do you just 'play' the game on the test server and report whatever bugs you find? I beta-tested for Lionhead Studios a few times, and always prefered to be on something specific rather than randomly hunting for bugs.

Basically the main task as a Bug Hunter is to look at the filter list which contains all the bug reports submitted by players. You then choose which report you want to tackle and try to reproduce the bug with the reproduction steps the player has given. If you verify it you can then defect the report and QA will take it from there, you can also find and submit bug reports but generally you'll be busy enough ensuring the reports that HAVE already been submitted are being dealt with.
You will also get to test out new features and game mechanics and that's where the majority of your bug reporting and feedback will be done.

Verifying bug reports seems nicely straight forward. When testing new features and game mechanics, does that mean the technical side (ensuring that every button and thingemajig in the game does what it's programmed to do) or does it include the design side of things. (commenting on game balancing, visual design, music and audio, from a designer's point of view) Or is that left to the designers themselves?

Could an IT student sign up and then would you officially let them put this on their resume as quality assurance experience?

You primarily test the technical side ensuring the feature works as its intended to but on occasion you will be asked for certain feedback which can include game balancing.
This experience can go on your resume but not as a CCP employee as you are working on a volunteer basis, never the less it is still a great oppertunity to put a leading MMO developers name on your resume. In this industry any experience you get is going to help you progress your career and what better place to do that. :)

(Cough)
The current (CLASSIC and soon to be phased out) Mac client works. A bit better for some then others (memory leak spoils a lot of fun but is said to be found and fixed)
But as its about to be obsolete, there's no real purpose of bug hunt-testing it, is there?
The current Beta Sisi Mac client is non existent, or at least not available for us Mac zealots. So, though we would love to help out, without a (beta gamma alpha epsilon whatever) test client leading up to Apochribba M10, we cannot be of much help, can we?

Let me rephrase what I wrote:
Question 1: will it do any good bug hunting the current classic Mac client, while it will be obsolete in 16 days?
Question 2: how can we Mac users help out when there is no SiSi client available for us?
Quote: If you live on the test servers, always wanting to figure out the latest features and mechanics, then why not apply to ECAID and take the next step!
