This game is amazing, the people who play is even more interesting. I have never see a community full of amazing people who extremely friendly and helpful, but yet can be so, how should I say it full of *******s.
There are plenty of people that is willing help you if you have questions, for example I got into a lvl2 mission I wouldn't handle, my ship got killed in the mission gate full of rats, so I offer on the local chat to pay 2mil to whoever help me retrieve my stuff, a player responded and afterward he refuses to take that 2mil. But even more scams and traps which if done in the real world would be locked up for good. People here are either very friendly to you or very hostile, I find few in betweens.
Very curious, how did this place became like this in the first place.

Pilots are as agressive and unforgiving as they have/want to be and as friendly as they can get away with.

EVE is a feral world full of feral people. Perhaps, just perhaps, it gives you a glimpse of what would happen if our societal constraints break down. Hmmm, afk buying a shotgun.

Wait wait wait, you mean that the real world isn't just like that? Where other people don't want to kill you because you are not the same sex/race/ethnicity/religion/group/gang as them? Man please tell me what planet in the universe that you are living on because Earth sucks, and I would love to live where you are. Republic lovin' ass kisser. |

As a serious reply I would say in general (and oversimplifing here) most of the nasttier player as players that are young rl age of the player base. The nicer players are either longer term players or older rl players.
It reflect the real world very well, but just as you say very extreme. While you can do alot in eve, if is very hard to be a little bit nasty. Now if their were true smugglers ?!? Hug a Carebear, Kill a pirate, squish a Rat, and tickle a dev.
Make Eve fun.... |

"Because they can"
- ever wondered why we have rules & laws in real life? - what happens when a natural disaster happens? Katrina i.e. everyone and his dog stealing everything from stores breaking windows etc. - 99% people act because of an interest. This interest may be economical, social, or just self-pleasure. i.e. collaborating with a poor country makes them happy, there you have an interest.
Welcome to life.

Empire is the product of "nearly" anarchy - its properly the same type of players you encounter then you find someone that are very friendly and maybe they scam you a week later. These people have a name attach to them, one they can't hide from, they are call psychopaths - its fairly common amount leaders. One day they are your friend the next day they are they means monsters on earth. But don't worry about the real world. In EVE you just see it more clearly because of the low level of consequence. People get to live out there evil or good sides. Empire are a catalyst for this.
Now what can you do about that. My advice to you is to move out to a corporation what are based in 0.0, now that must sound like a more dangerous than staying in Empire, but trust me its not. Why: the low level of consequence are replace with a very high level of consequence for your actions. This could easily be confirm from people living in the outer space rings of New Eden. You are looking for more justices and you will find it in 0.0 space in New Eden.
my 2 cents - Have a nice day!

Are you delusional? Older, more mature, players are the ones that come up with the best schemes. I mean look at the BOB thing that just happened. You think a couple of 13 year olds orchestrated that? No. It was a few long term players that are older RL players that thought of the best way to dismantle an alliance and set them back to ground zero. They then enacted that plan, once it was in motion broadcast it, and then capitalized on it. Granted I feel that the forums helped with the third part of the plan because the goons are a bunch of rainmen with rifters. Sure they can count good,"dud we haz lik 500 plpz and day haz liek 20, atack." But really they aren't that smart. Republic lovin' ass kisser. |

Edited by: TSX01 on 22/02/2009 12:53:02 Thanks guys, very intellectually replies, I'm surprised. Just like you guys implied, people in Eve is not behaving out of character, people in Eve is actually exactly what they wold be like if our world has no rules and law enforcements, kind like the wild wild west. That just show us just how animalistic we are as a species still are. Hiding beneath our facade of modern civilization, we still can't change it.
On another note, I don't know EVE is either doing good by letting those inner psychopath (you and me included) to vent our animal instictint, so that it would serve as a pressure vault and we would behave better in normal society. Or EVE is actually cultivating our inner demons even more.

compared to the other games I've played eve has some of the most helpful people of all. there's even the pirate that just shot you down and contacts you about what you should do better next time. not to mention the help channels where some ppl seem to compete in giving the first reply. on the other hand there's also a lot of s****that other games wouldn't harbor.
so yeah, lot's of extremes. real life in a box. Pewpew |

Know this too well.
It's called elitism; people know everything, if you don't, you suck donkeys.
Those people should be banned faster then isk sellers.
Sure, be a rude son'of'a'gun who dislikes all people, kills babies and dumps toxic waste in orphanages, but if someone asks a game mechanic question, answer it or ignore it

The only troll here (so far) is you.
Edit: You pretty much fail at definations, a troll is a internet poster who deliberatly posts a statement with incitement to cause arguements, flame wars and emoraging. His post was largely positive. A troll isn't someone who posts period. As I said you brim with e failure.

I think that as a sandbox game (and an intelligent, cut-throat one at that), EVE tends to bring out the everything in people. You be a total jerk or a practical saint, it's all fair game and people go there because it's interesting to go there. ---------------------------------------- All dressed in uniforms so fine, They drank and killed to pass the time Wearing the shame of all their crimes With measured steps they walked in line |

How many eve players did you poll to come up with this conclusion ? Me thinks you just assume that anyone who does not conform to your own narrow minded idea of a "valid playstyle" is immature.....ammirite ?
