just wondering regarding to true security in 0.0... which is better (read better rats) -0.0 or -0.4?
i was thinking mathematically -0.4 should be better because its lower but ive been told its the other way round...
someone please clarify this for us eh.
cheers

0.0 truesec ranges from 0.0 to -1.0. You are correct in assuming that lower = better (-1.0 is better space than -0.001). The confusion issues from most 0.0 players ignoring the minus symbol, referring to -1.0 as 1.0 and such.
If you are looking for a system to rat in, there are more issues than just truesec alone: how many belts a system has, whether it's on a major pipe or a deadend, whether the system has a station etc. A -1.0 system with 4 belts is worse for ratting than a -8.0 with 20. --- Sig Starts Here --- Lord Haur - Imperial Academy Logistical Support

well thnx for the fast response :)
so that clears that up mainly then...
you mentioned that there are other factors like how many belts etc - do you meen the amount of belts and that effects the quality of the rat or do you meen it has an effect on the value of that system as a ratting system?

I believe what he means is that a -0.8 system with 15 belts is usually preferable to a -1.0 system with 3 belts.
Also, the lower the truesec the better the rats that will spawn. For example, -0.8 to -1.0 systems will get 1.8 million ISK BS spawns (in up to 3 at a time) but a -0.2 system will never get those. It might get a 1.1 mil ISK BS spawn as the best it can get.

The exception to true sec is the regions that are NPC rat "home systems". Curse is the Angels' home region, and Stain is the Sansha's home region. These regions have true sec rather close to zero, but they still have a random assortment of rat spawns including very high bounty ones, and have a higher likelihood of officer spawns.
So you want true sec as low as possible, unless you're in an NPC home region, in which case true sec is irrelevant.
