ok, there is a macro miner named holygrelo in the system of sonama. He is not the only one there, but is the biggest offender due to his mining 22-23 hours a day in a hulk. Multiple players have put in multiple petitions about him over the past months with absolutely no response from ccp other than the canned bs. So, i tried to take matters into my own hands to rid the system of this piece of crap.
Apparently under the new high sec concord reaction setup, there is nothing that a player can do about this any longer. I tried getting a group of cruisers with nothing but dmg mods on, and concord insta jammed us all. I tried using a battleship with 8 large smart bombs and an ungodly amount of armor dps, and concord insta cap drained me as well as blowing up my ship waaaaaaay too fast.
Something must be done about this. They say macros will not be tolerated, but do nothing about it. Then they make it to where we can do nothing about it.
Any ideas?

Have you tried grouped missiles, maybe even a torp Raven, fully insured with just one shot in each T1 launcher and nothing else, so when you die, you essentially lose nothing? -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

judging from my battleship experiment, it would take 8 battleships with 8 large smartbombs, or 30 cruisers. that is absurd.

I've read numerous tales of 6 Dessies taking out a Hulk in high sec.
No clue as to whether it works on a well tanked Hulk, though.

How can you be 100% sure that he's a macro miner?
For a start, his name isn't the normal macro fare like "xeuihd" or "bvksdfjk", really...plus, there is the fact that he might simply be in an EU time zone (where DT ends just after lunch time) and be logged in all the time. I frequently do that, being in the UK, I log in at 12 and often only disconnect when the server kicks me off the next day.
Plus, in case you bring up this card, I'm not surprised he blocks randoms in local trying to convo him. I do too, I have nothing to say to them and they have nothing of importance to say to me. --------------------------------------------

As I said, people merely reporting him does not make him a macro. You are making an assertion but one, until CCP acts one way or the other, that lacks any substantive evidence. As an addendum, which made me "lol" btw:

we would need video proof of him mining for 22 hours a day for next month in order to verify that he is macro mining.
No video of him for 22 hours for next 30 days (so 22x30 = 660 hours of footage + 6 extra hours for rounding) = NO PROOF!

You know what buddy, you've deliberated derailed the only serious posts I've made here in ages. I present valid points, and you return with ad hominem attacks. Ridiculous
So I think I'll revert back to grassroots trolling and rephrase your OP:

Also, LOGICAL INCONSISTENCY DETECTED:
Quote: even if i don't agree with thier style of play, ehm (pirates).
Whereas, your asking about how to blow up miners is rather at odds with that, considering that makes you a pirate.

Edited by: 1Winged Angel on 23/02/2009 19:16:33 here's it plain and simple:
if ccp arent too bothered to stop them then why should you be??? stop wasting your time on it and go proper pvping also if he was a proper macro miner then he would be mining ice fields and not normal roid fields?
i tend to afk mine with my alt for pretty much a full day to save up money for pvp so does that make me a macro no so let ccp do the investigation cause they will do a far better job than any of us could hope to do.
at the end of the day the player is paying his subscription like the rest of us so he should be able to do what he wants in the game, would you like it if someone told you how to play a game that your paying for??? didnt think so.

Then he is a fail macro miner.
To give some inside info: It is impossible to proof macro miner. Macro's can be programmed to warp to differnt belts / positions, with different interval times. Macro's can be programmed to (re)act to NPC or hostiles (launch drones on NPC or dokc as soon as a red jumps in system.

Anybody who's played the game for any amount of time will probably be able to spot a macro bot. Its not like its all that hard. To those who insist in every such thread, the OP is surely wrong. What is the big problem?
If a player finds sport in going after them, so what. If he now and then makes a mistake and takes out a real player, so what. Are there really some of you who believe they don't exist? If you don't care about them, why fight so hard to disprove they exist in the first place?

Why even bother saying that your going after macro miners then? Its pretty difficult to identify a program for a bored sleepy miner anyway.. Why not just have a crusade against miners, be they macro or sleepy, and be done with it..
TBH, killing off macro miners is a double edged sword. On one side its a good thing because it means players can actually make decent money at this profession, but on the other side if all macro miners were blocked tomorrow its going to mean a lot less materials make it on to the open market pushing the price way up.
Still, they are fun to pop because they are dumb. NOT a kublai alt. Honest! |

i'm betting there are more macro missioners then miners, we just hear much more about the miners because they are far easyer to spot also, are you sure this isnt just a player that dosnt understand a word in english? i have met a few of those over the years
and on top of that, many of those "macroers" dont actually use macros at all, they pay some kids in china mabey 1$ an hour to manage 12 accounts, each, which is sadly, not breaking any rules(at least none i know of) however those sweatshops are most likely mining to get money for isk selling, so you would need to tie that together, but of course, you need transaction logs for that, which means we need to trust ccp to do this right
and last but not least, with all this macro mining, trit is up to 4 isk a unit, if they all vanish at the same time, the market will be in for a shock, as supply of low end mats will be dropping quite a bit
hm, in conclusion i would still prefer that, then mabey REAL players can mine in high sec again, and not have to look for a belt that hasnt been compleatly removed, which is in many places quite a challenge
--- return the mines!

I can assure you that if someone is playing EvE continuously for 22-23 hours a day, they are going to be dead very soon. An average adult needs 9-10 hours of sleep a night, and it has been scientifically proven that sleep is important for many vital body and brain functions. Sleep deprivation can lead to mental and physical fatigue, loss of concentration, and eventually you will simply collapse unconscious. Now, I ask you, how do you propose this person is consistently playing eve for 22-23 hours a day without suffering any adverse effects, including death?
Also, you asked for evidence, enjoy:

Yes, I am aware that people who are sat at a computer playing games for 23-odd hours a day are likely to die fairly quickly. Additionally, I can quite happily AFK mine in my Itty V and be far away from the keyboard.
However, simply being logged on does not necessarily mean they are playing. I am oft-logged on whilst fast asleep.
And I did not ask for damn links to Wikipedia and Insomia support pages - I asked the OP for proof, any actual proof that he might have had beyond assumptions, that the person he was referring to was actually a macro.

You see where I am going with this? And if you take offense at anything I just wrote then war dec Sol. I don't care and I am sure he wont either.

I agree with the OP. We need to have CONCORD response removed entirely for anyone who's more than 1 month old and still in an NPC corp.

Wikipedia: Sleep Insomnia Site EDIT: A more scientific article
However, this relies upon the accusers actually being accurate in their statements, but for now I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
I havent slept more than 4 hours a night for the last 15 years. Something I got used to in the military and never got away from. Im not dead, tired, or even dead tired. I dont know of anyone who can lay in a bed for 9-10 hours a day. (Maybe with a hangover)
Anyway if hes sharing an account then he needs banned. If hes macroing he needs banned. And finally, apparently the -10 pirates seem to have no trouble popping hulks in high sec with destroyers. Try that. Its much cheaper.

If CCP really cared about ending macro mining, it would be pretty easy. Do what Pandora does; periodically ask the player a question. Make sure it is a question that can't be auto-replied to. Don't reply in 360 seconds? Boot! Simple. AFK miner? Too bad. AFK anything? Too bad. Sit down, pay attention. for pompous or whoever, it's pretty clear you're one of the macro/afk miner types. Your words are meaningless, arguments weak, and everything you say seems to boil down to irrelevant nonsense. Why does he have to prove it to you? Who cares what you want or think? If a player is so selfish that they can't leave a few roids for others to mine, I say kill them every chance you get. AFK/Macro or real life jerk doesn't matter. There's nothing more annoying than male, teenage idiots (e.g. pompous). Go troll somewhere else macrojerk. Don't bother replying, I could care less what you have to say.
Jak Fury does the same kind of thing in Nakugard, only AFK ratting is his thing. If anyone brings me his frozen corpse, there's 750k ISK in it for you (first corpse only). Another 750k ISK for the 1st frozen corpse of holygrelo. there's 250k for the killmail of either one, provided that Jak's ship is a battlecruiser or better and holygrelo's ship has to be a hulk. Offer expires March 31st. Eve mail me; i won't be reading this thread again. Yes. I'm an Alt. You're pretty friggin' smart. |

lol what, have you seen the vast number of high sec systems withfull roid belt but no one will touch them because they're off the beaten path? I have, they're...vast

Nice, how are you going to cater to people who might not happen to speak the predominant language and would therefore might be unable to answer the question in the required period of time, but who are nonetheless legitimately mining?

Because I asked him to, you peanutjerk

What's the bloody point about cracking down on afk miners anyway? If CCP is gonna enforce this rule, so be it, I don't see why people need to make 2 page freakin arguements over it. Pompous, you provide good points, I quickly read it over and I don't remember any of it but oh well. False, stop being an ass, if you use a macro you're not actually getting your money's worth of the game, besides he's paying for a chance to use a macro, so again why try to crack down on it? Either way, CCP gets money regardless.

I find all the comments about killing witches offensive and religiously discriminating and bigoted; Please stop as this is against the TOS for Eve and the forums.
As for the micro miner, we do need a way for vigilante justice. The current system favors isk sellers and people who abuse the system, this ruins the game for most of the paying customers who actually care about it. It needs to be changed. - John'eh |

Your statement here bothers me. This is akin to the days of old where people were burned at the stake for being a witch or defying the church. Just because a lot of people believe something, doesn't mean it's true.(religion.. can billions of people be wrong?(I had a Mormon use that line on me to attempt to convert me))

Edited by: Ulric Zorn on 26/02/2009 00:20:26 With all the hate in the world, this one player that hundreds of people have reported for macro mining up to and including 48 hours a day, is the issue that the OP is going to take a stand against.
To quote Dr. Clayton Forrester:
"Does it hurt much?"
Let's ban all assist devices on computers as they may give the handi-capable players a distinct advantage. Let's require that everyone use PS2 ports for their mice so we have a level playing field. Oh and God help you if you have a trackball.
