well, theres alot of planets in space? If they give the planets some strategic meaning, i think it could evolve nicely

Planets will give the EVE universe more depth. Instead of delivering water to a space station, you could fly it down to a desert planet. Trading could get a much needed boost with large planet colonies. Oh, planets would also add some nice eye candy.
Space tends to be black and boring when you see it from space, but seen from a planet space can be very pretty. (oh my God, its full of stars)

Well, right now maybe. But this is not until Kali or even past Kali. And Kali is prolly not here till Q2 2005. So dont worry

the earlyest for Kali is 6 months after Shiva (between castor and Shiva will be about 9 months if i remember correct)

The devs said those pics were a test to see if the engine could handle planetary travel. They want to add that eventually, but they said it wouldn't be before September 2005, and that was many months ago, so probably even longer.

They don't actually show how it will be...they just show an EVE ship photoshopped onto a desert and arctic background O_o
Especially in the desert shot you can clearly see that its photoshoped since the shadows are all wrong...
Uhh, those shots are in engine test shots. Not photoshopped. A dev confirmed it the first time they were leaked. (Pre-castor I think)
