I don't want this to get lost.
It's been a week, I've sent in two petitions, both with dxdiag log and the logfile attached (with no response I might add). So have to rely on forum peeps. Any other suggestions to this issue. (Start EVE, splash screen then nothing, but ExeFile.exe hanging in memory (processes) but no launch).

For the love of god, someone please be brilliant and tell me how to fix this, starting to go through withdrawals and I hate paying for something I'm not able to use!

Edited by: Kemshi on 28/02/2009 22:11:05 I'm having the same problem as well, and plan to try a few of the things listed, but just to add... I have already rebooted, uninstalled, deleted, re-downloaded, re-installed 4 times, on both premium ( which I was running fine last night ) and classic. Nothing has worked yet. I tried a rollback to yesterday, no changes were made. I updated my vid card drivers, no change. I am on XP as well, is this a windows update that has screwed us? I mad the original post "Black screen of death". Hoping to find my answer here.
P.S. When I minimize or close the app, I see a glimpse of the username/password box before the screen closes.

After some fussing around I've FOUND A SOLUTION without having to reset all your settings (overview)

All of these files are located within the AppData folder. Hope this helps others. ---------

This problem started for me today too, ive tried everything suggested here and in other threads, and still splash screen just vanishes and the exe file remains in proccesses. the ccp response to this is the usually rubbish... oh just clear cache you'll be fine. Well clearly this isnt good enough of a responce when more and more people are begining to experience this problem, and clearing cache does sweet FA.
Can we get another ccp representative to look into this asap, you know you got a big ass update coming and the ppl not able to play now, you know the ones that have paid for this update will get lost in the mess that will come march 10. |

Edited by: Kemshi on 03/03/2009 05:03:23 Ok, I don't know if this will help anyone, but i figured out mine. Mine doesn't work if my screensaver is turned on. When I set my screensaver to "none", the client works fine. Still wierd that the problem just started 2 days ago after dt.

Edited by: Kerelious on 03/03/2009 18:34:05 Edited by: Kerelious on 03/03/2009 18:30:25 I too am having this problem. I woke up today with the usual "you have been disconnected", from the downtime kick. So as usual I closed both my clients and restarted them. I get the splash and then the client goes into the task bar but it will not come on screen. It shows in the task manager and I can right click the client in the task bar and minimize and restore it, but again nothing comes on screen. I have reinstalled eve and updated my gfx drivers. I was playing last night fine until I went to bed an hour before downtime. Like most of the other people here I have a skill finishing soon and would love to be able to log in and change it. Also I have not been able to find the app data folder some spoke of here, but I am running Vista x64. Please someone help me fix this problem asap I have to work soon and will not be able to change my skill for 9 hours. :(
Edit: It still runs fine on my bros PC. The only difference between our PCs is: I have a Radeon HD3870 He has a Radeon HD3850
Edit2: Ok its fixed. I change to the highest resolution I could then ran the safe client, it loaded right up. So I closed the safe client and opened the normal client is windowed but is working now. Odd solution, but maybe it'll help others, good luck guys!!

Same ****, my client starts up, I get the splash screen, and it minimizes.
I've reinstalled, deleted the cache (worked the first time it happened but not this time) and followed every time that anyone suggested despite being long shots from rolling back to updating drivers to running as admin in safe mode and installing a new font.
im running vista 64bil, nvidia gt120, with an Intel Quad q2000 cpu.
I would really love to get some support on this.

I, like some others, am having a "splash and crash" problem since Apocrypha. Frankly, it feels like I've been taking it in the wormhole for the last day-and-a-half.
Initial patch = great, logged in for a quick check Wed night = seemed okay. 2 days later Friday night - try to sign in - splash screen pops up, then goes away, no log in screen ever appears. I can see Eve working on my task manager when it's booting up, but then the program seems to quit.
Did total Eve reload per this: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1020574
No luck. Same issue of Splash and Crash.
Ran Log Server (which keeps running in the background long after Eve splashes and crashes), but seems to be in some sort of loop.
Read Log Server messages. I see a red stop sign (EVE Client version 6.1 build 84244 started 03/14/2009 0:22:07) and a skull and crossbones (EVE Client version 6.1 build 84244 started 03/14/2009 0:22:07). Those can't be good.
A few lines later in the log led me to a Eve forum post from a while ago:
***
Edited by: Sheila Chandra on 18/08/2007 17:24:02 GOT IT !!!!
It was the missing arialuni.ttf. I downloaded it from the internet and installed, now its working.
Originally by: Sheila Chandra --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Failed to start service fonts (bin\blue.dll) Probably just a font file missing that is used in the launchpad?? One line above it tries to open "arialuni.ttf", i looked into windows/fonts but couldnt find the file there. This error occurs 3 times in the log.
***
I checked my LogServer messages from 2 different "splash and crashes" and this is what I found in both (after the stop signs and skeleton symbols):
Open C:\WINDOWS\Fonts/arialuni.ttf Found fallbackfont: C:\WINDOWS\Fonts/arialuni.ttf Open C:\WINDOWS\Fonts/arialuni.ttc Service fonts required 0.007 seconds to startup
Then the logs just seem to loop.
I looked in my C:\Windows\Fonts - I found the arialuni.ttf, but didn't see a arialuni.ttc . Thought that if I could find and install an arial unicode.ttc font file, I could fix the issue.
Did an internet search and seems I can't find a arialuni.ttc (Arial Unicode TrueType Compressed Font).
Does this kind of file exist? Will this fix my problem? Am I barking up the wrong tree? Will I ever see wormhole space?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I wonder if the real culprit of the splash and crash is this security update from microsoft (I have auto-updates set to yes). I was successful signing into Eve at first. These 3 auto-security updates came March 11. They seem to be server related. Maybe another piece of the puzzle. I dunno - just a shot in the dark.

I did the whole update and shut down following some MS updates for the first time since the patch, and the splash and crash was what happened immediately upon reboot.
Clearing the cache has had no effect. I will see if I can roll back these windows updates.
Running Vista Business BTW.

Edited by: RolKulan on 19/03/2009 13:54:47 I had this problem and noticed that it mirrored to some extent the action of minimizing eve through an alt-tab function even though when I clicked on the eve in the programs tab it wouldnt un-minimize eve.
What I did to fix the problem was to hit alt-tab, which for some reason brought up my eve-folder which had an eve executable in safe mode icon which I clicked on and this brought up eve in windowed mode. I then logged in and then changed my settings to full screen and it hasnt happened again yet.

I HAD THIS PROBLEM TRYING TO GET THE TEST SEVER TO RUN
THIS WORKED
Found a fix, at C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE, there is a folder named c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility, upon clearing the settings and cache there, eve ran just fine :)
