so i just upgraded my clone and noticed that it doesnt cost that much to upgrade clones to a very high skill level, has it always been this way?
iev always thought bein podded was to be avoided at all costs but as long as your clone is up to date whats the big deal?

If you get podded repeatedly with clones costing several million a piece it adds up, but for older players there's the additional wallet hit of implant losses to consider. +1 plants are ridiculously cheap now so new players can pretty much fit them without worry, but if you use +4/5's or pirate plants it's a lot of ISK being carried in your head and at best it's at least an inconvenience when you get podded.
I'm pretty sure that the clone upgrade costs are quite similar now to the way they were when I started playing nearly three years ago, although the amount of SP each type stores has been tweaked, and some uber clones for the 100+ million SP players have been added.

The big deal is implants and when you havn't or can't upgrade your clone.
It's pretty easy to let your head run away with a couple of bil in pirate and officer implants. If you on top of that lose 2 mil SP and end up in the other end of the galaxy just because you didn't have a medical facility in the station you had your med clone in... It can hurt. Parrots, commence!

you lose implants if they are plugged in
the more sp you have more expensive your close (my clone is 8 mil or something for example)
but tbh if you use cheap 'plants and whatnot its never a big deal

Get yourself a high grade Slave set, then say it's nothing to be podded.

I think losing your ship and pod is enough of cost for death. And like said with implants it can cost quite a lot. +4 implants cost 50-80mill per set. crystal or snake set several billion.

13 mill a pop for a new clone
Craploads for a decent set of implants
Getting caught in the wrong clone when the fleet call goes out and having a name that starts with "A" ....
Trust me, it gets expensive.
It's not the podding that hurts, it's the washup by the FC afterwards. You know the one? manic screaming about you sucking at pvp before he's even seen the loss mail containing 40+ enemy ships.

Its about right in my opinion. I like the idea of clones and pod kills - it makes the game more "real" (yes I know how rediculas that actually sounds). If clones to more exensive then it would be more frustrating for everyone getting podded.
Personally the biggest cost is the embarrasment of not warping out fast enough when your ship got popped ;)

Get podded with a head full of implants - then you'll see why people really don't like getting shot up.

Why don't they just delete your character if you get podded. I mean, how dare anyone get in a fight and lose? What EVE really needs is less people PvPing.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

Then fly in an empty jump clone and not your medical clone. A jump clone costs like 500,000 isk?

Um no, that's not how it works. When he gets podded he has to update his medical clone, end of story.

If you have a mission alt/run missions occasionally implants arent that expensive

My clone are like...hmm... 12 million? 17 million? It is the clone that covers up to 71 mill SP or so. I think dying is as such a "big deal":
1. Loss of ship/modules (usually a tech 2 "uninsurable" ship and modules) 2. Sometimes loss of implants 3. Loss of Clone
So when the sum have been added together, then yes, we are speaking "big deal". Particularily when you need a clone/ship/modules or two every day...

It definately DOES work like that. Make a new JC, jump to it, and you will not lose implants. --

Yeah, but he means you still have to pay for the medical clone. Your point is entirely valid, since the biggest stink of losing a clone that anyone can come up with is the loss of implants, since the medical clone is pennies (by comparison).

You didn't say anything about implants, you said "A new jump clone costs 500,000 ISK". Which is neither true nor relevant.

Edited by: Marcus Druallis on 25/02/2009 16:33:44 Ok, apologize. I read it as he thought implants still pop in JC, not really sure why. But still, implants suck way more than clone (mine is 13m, I know :/ )
EDIT: Btw, I didn't make the original rebuttal. --
