This may well have been dealt with before but if it has sadly I've not seen it.
I can buy stuff anywhere in a region. I can cancel an order from anywhere in a region.
So WTH can't I set up a sell order for goods I own anywhere in a region?
Does my communication system only work in one direction? Or am I being dumb and this can actually be done?
Is there really any good reason why I must travel 25 jumps to set up a sell order for something? Can't see one myself.
Your comments are welcome.

When you set up a sell order, people anywhere in the region can see what you are selling.
It is the fact that you must physically leave the goods in a station somewhere, so that someone can pick them up after they buy from you.
You only need to travel a bunch of jumps to sell if you want to find a heavily populated area or sell in a different region.
(sorry - misread your post. You mean that you must go to where your goods are stored to be able to set up a sell order... I agree; this situation certainly doesn't help the EVE economy one little bit)

I think the question was: You left something at a station. Now you're gone from there, but you want to put in a sell order for that station where you left it (but you're not currently in that station anymore). Can you do that?

No it can't be done and its Annoying to say the least. Even if you don't have the option to sell something the option to trash an item is so needed. I have 12 capsules and a few ibis' lurking around.
Not only does it clog up my assets display but it cannot be good for the server. Eventually we will all just get buried in trash.

Thanks for taking the time to post.
My real concern here is that I put buy orders in for a whole regions for goods that pirates drop. Now I have stuff at mb 100 stations that its not economical for me to go and fetch or do anything with. In fact I moved regions.
A trash option would sure help me tidy things up. Or mb a sell option so I can sell the stuff cheap to someone.
Without something like this we really are going to make this game impossible to play.
Like, OMG Mai just logged on, guess the servers gonna crash :)

Are Brokers supposed to be able to place sell/buy orders for you? If so, perhaps they won't be bound by this "having to be present" restraint. Golda HR Director

If you have equipment items, not ships, at multiple stations and you desire them to be transported to a single location, create a courier mission.
Then the items can be relocated to a central location for you to deal with them as you would like. Otherwise, when at those stations if you would prefer to dispatch with the items quickly, just recycle them.
<<<<STATION: TRANSMISSION>>>>> It is for the security of the owner, the station management, does not have access to personal hangers to remove items to be placed for sale. Physical presence of the owner is required to remove any items from a hanger. Placement of items into a hanger proposes no risk. >>>>>END TRANSMISSION<<<<<

So let me get this right Jojin.
In order to sort my problem out I have to create over 100 individual courier missions, each in excess of 30 jumps, some of which will be for one or two items of a particular type.
How exactly would that be either cost or time effective?
Whilst I'm generally not one to criticise other peoples opinions, I'm afraid the word "Twit" comes to mind when reading your post.
The official line you quoted simply appears to me to be another indication of the developers inclination to make this less a game and more a chore.
The solution is simple (ie create a trash option or allow distance selling), whilst getting any action from CCP is not.
Please think before you type :P

I totaly agree. I have items all over 2 regions, and thay are bulking my assest list.
An alternitive to this would be to have the assest more organiced. and not so bulky.
So I could see what I think of as valiable
So I could see what is close to me, like 1 - 4 jumps away.
to see what is in other regions
I would like the assest windo to be re-programed, so I can do a lot of things with it.
I would like to set destenasion to - were my item is.
I would like to Auction the item, and set a date, perhaps a few hours to week in distance, so the one with a higest bid would get it.
I think the howl assest / marker system is bugy and not wery fun.

You used to be able to do remote selling in earlier betas, but that screwed the market since people could make gazillions with NPC-trade goods in minutes. Trade routes become obsolete when you¦re able to do remote-selling so... I think the brokers will be able to do remote selling for a price or something. They have to be useful in any way at least.
