Edited by: panterus29 on 01/03/2009 10:09:31 does appear to be a problem if you change any graphics settings, apparently afterward you have to clear the cache again
edit:changing audio settings was fine

Ok, first time I applied the latest pach eve run just fine.Closed it,and tried to play a few hours later and i got CTD after splash screen.
Then I deleted cash folder and it works fine.
It looks like the crash is happening when I enable resource cash under graphics options, and then close EVE and try to start it again. If I enable it and continue playing everything works fine, but after restarting eve I get CTD again.
So try deleting cash folder and don't enable resource cash.
Works for me

The last patch kinda broke the client for me
Didn't get the "crash at splash" before this (at least, afaik - I missed one patch)
Bug report filed, clearing the cache doesn't solve the problem for me. --- Sig will be updated shortly |

ok so got past the crash at splash until i change the cache setting or the details settings, i played for a bit with the cache enabled killed belt rats in 0.0 with a proteus and so forth, then i go to dock and it gets stuck loading station ok so i esc and try to undock, then it gets stuck undocking with a black screen. ok, so i ctrl-q and try to relog and because i had changed the cache setting it crashes, ok, so i delete the settings folder again and it loads this time ofc trying to show me the eula and the intro again, so i select character after that and im still stuck in between the station and outer space, rough going so far.

On a side note. All versions had worked for me short the last one. A fresh copy and 1.4 Gig DL later and I am golden again.

I am, as of 82390, consistently CTDing right after the splash screen. I submitted BR 72552 on build 82390, and it's still in effect for 82565.

sounds like the trouble everyone else was having i think you need to delete your cache files the ones in the appdata/local/ccp/eve : and ofc only the ones associated with the SISI copy

Hi all, after looking into the bug reports that were submitted (Thank you for the info!) it looks like resource caching may be one of the causes to the current crash on startup.
So far I've only seen this affecting SM2.0 cards.
In the meantime try this:
1. Clear the cache for your Sisi client. 2. Start your client, and avoid using "Enable Resource Caching" when your texture quality is set to Medium or High. 3. Play the game as you normally would
Hopefully these steps work for others, as that seems to help one of the machines I've been testing with

to set off "Enable Resource Caching" simply edit the prefs.ini and remove the line resourceCacheEnabled=pickle:I01.

Thanks. I'd wiped out the cache in my sisi folder, not in wherever that is. Wiping out the cache file for sisi in that appdata folder did the trick.
Why can't EVE keep all of it's files together like it used to? So annoying.

Yes well.. I must be doing something wrong. I modified the prefs.ini file, and also deleted what i believe to be the cache folder (it's the folder with all the .cache files right?) and it still crashes on the splash screen. Actually this is the first time since apocrypha coming to test that it's done this to me. I also had an issue with starting Eve, it would download the new build (2.5k megabytes) and when i install it, i'd start the game, and it'd want to download it all over again. From what I'm experiencing, The updaters are telling me I've missed several patches, and will not continue the operation regardless of what I do.

This worked, but I needed to clear the cache and settings folders in "\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_ccp_copy_of_eve"

You may want to try to uninstall your test client (remember to back up your normal client cache!!! ) and reinstall it from scratch (aka, download the current eve client installer, install as test client, run as test client) - this worked for me when clearing the cache didn't work. For me it also deleted the normal eve cache while uninstalling, so like already said, beware. --- Sig will be updated shortly |

It maybe just me but my entire system crashes when i open eve on my second screen.
I have tested this multiple times and the main and test servers open just fine on my main monitor. But if i move it over to my second monitor on the eve startup just after i select the char i wanna log in with my entire PC crashes (is: blue screen cache dump) and i need to reboot my PC.

Since I've never actually started the client because of the crashing on the splash screen (CCP EXEFile has stopped working), I have no cache to clear. Drivers are updated, nothing seems to work. Tried running as admin, tried running in xp, etc. etc..

My main machine is fine, however I'm experiencing the same issue as the rest of you on a Intel GMA945 based netbook I use to play Eve on the move.
I currently have the latest TQ release installed on it fresh with no old cache left behind from old installs and the client is crashing to a windows problem box in XP before closing.
Shame, my netbook is listed as supporting SM 2.0

I have reproduced this, but I have a SM3.0 card. The "Enable Resource Caching" is the problem in my case and clearing the cashe/setings fixed it.

yep same here. My client was working fine before the last patch even running 2 clients at the same time, but not meeting the new strict requirements for the Macintosh CCP set out.
Now the only way I can get EVE to run is by wiping everything clean and not adjusting shader or quality settings. "Green isn't a good color for us.
I think we'll paint this region BLUE."
