What happened to the database on items on this website, the one with just the basic facts? Seems to have been replaced by a player driven one 'Evelopedia' which like all player driven ones are just a pile of junk.

The item database on Evelopedia is automatically generated and can't be edited AFAIK.
And I disagree that player driven content is "a pile of junk".

I'm not suggesting all player driven content is junk after all forums are player driven. But a player database for what is contained in something (game item) is generally rubbish. I.E. you look up Arkonor to see what it's made of there is no entry yet. Seems to me that ccp (or whoever updates the website) did not want to keep updating it so threw it to the players to sort out.

If I use the links on this website, Item Database> Manufacture & materials> Ore &Minerals> Ore> Arkonor> Arkonor, I don't see anything refering to what Arkonor consists of.

it's also contains far less information now than it did previously. e.g. it doesn't seem to be clear how to find the producers of blueprints; who sells small mobile warp disruptor BPOs?

I dont know what you guys are smoking, EVElopedia is absolutely awesome and has helped me ALOT, the guides on scanning, industry and other stuff are very well written. 
Edit: And since everyone on these forums think Sarcasm is funny somehow, im forced to hold up this big NO SARCASM sign, so you actually understand that i mean what i wrote.

i somewhat agree, in the old info pages you knew what corp was selling blueprints , now you have to make useless jumps into regions just to see who is selling what
but players are updating the pages and some add where you can find stuff
its new i guess and will take time until most of the old info is added
