Unlike your body and it's torso, who are currently having an argument...I hope you two can "piece" things together ^^

Originally by: Tzar'rim If your 12 yearold son really made that without any help then you should consider giving him more challenges like that, developing his skills and (obvious) interest in building stuff, cause he'll make a good engineer/architect when he's older (if he wants to go that route).
He really did Even my wife said how good it was. I already knew he had a "engineer" streak and he always has loved building stuff with lego and Knex. I always encourage him to be what he wants to be
Goona try and get him to make a Tempest next :-)

Originally by: Grishius Keep an eye on him. Unless you want to start talking about epic failures made by people with different sexual orientation etc... It's great from one point of view, but when I'm thinking about what he can encounter here...Dunno I don't think eve is really a game you want your 12yo child to be playing without your supervision.
My son is 12 y/o and whilst I dont want him swearing like a trooper he hears much worse at school. Our guys in corp know to "tone it down" a bit when he is on with me. I only let him play when I am online with him. Besides, I would never "molly coddle" him, hopeully I can prepare him for whatever he faces in the world. BTW, he has had a much bigger leg up than I got when I started eve, He can fly tech 2 frig and has all his learning and boring skills to lvl 5
He is loving it so far but finds the long ops boring, he likes non stop action which is something he will have to learn to cope with. Still waiting for a big loss to truly test his mettle! So whilst helping him on the steep curve I try not to hold his hand too much, but when its your son sometimes you cant help it
Anyway, thanks for all the nice comments, I cant wait to show him the thread. I think he will be pleased.

+1. My vote has been locked in.
Also, your son is flippin awesome. His use of a consistent color scheme, the accuracy of the build, and the creative use of parts is fantastic. He captured the wingy bits very well, and that upper thruster took me by surprise. Using a Star Wars droid???? Nice idea. All I've managed to make so far is a Condor, but it kinda sucks and thats off topic anyway.
A tempest is a good idea, but if you really want to challenge him Minmatar-wise, I say give him the Hurricane to do. First of all I've never beenn able to figure out how to capture the angles myself, I LOVE hurricanes, and it's also one of the few minmatar ships with more interesting forms.
Looking forward to more by him ....by any chance, would he ahve a Brickshelf.com account or something? If not, make him one..or use flickr or something
/lego fiend off
Thanks for the real nice comments, Its appreciated. When he got home from school I showed him the thread and he was really pleased, so pleased in fact he is going to make some more, so we spent some time looking at screenies of different ship models. He would love to try a megathron but the angles are really hard to replicate in lego. He has collected lego since he was about 5 years old so has a fairly large collection ranging from lego basic, star wars, and city. He has alot of lego racers that work well for "imaginary" stuff too. We settled on trying a phoon. Although I never help him, I try to let him work it out and only make small suggestions.
I will keep you all posted on his progress.
BTW, he now has decided he wants his own Character so I have stopped the training on my alt and he has made a character all of his own, He even turned down some ISK to get him started One very proud Dad
*Edit* At Lord Berk, Woot! Cant wait to tell him that in the morning! Abadon will be a tough one though.

Sadao you please confirm this?
I wanted to honor your skills, but looking at your employment history, that character was generated dec 2006.
Yes thats correct, Megedagik is an alt I made, I took a long break from eve, around 18 months and have recently come back to the game. My son decided to make his own character, but after some thought he has decided to keep playing with the character I made, Megedagik Parris. although he was created a long time ago he only has 7 million SP but has all the "boring stuff" done like learning skill etc. I hope that clears it up for you

Hey Megedagik: I took the liberty to contract you an EVE version of a Stiletto construction kit.
It takes a few skills to assemble, you may have to ask someone for help with the final build, but I thought you could like to find out how to build a Stiletto in EVE:
Stiletto Kit Edit: added Backup link
OMG thanks alot!! I cant wait to tell Isaac!

Edited by: Sadao on 08/03/2009 16:15:33 Can I just say in my sons defense to all the whingers that its not as good, He has a limited supply of lego, as was explained in the Abaddon post. To make it more realistic would require upscaling by a huge amount. I think, and so do my corp mates and others in the thread, that he made a pretty good attempt given the resources he has
And besides I agree with Z0de, its on classic settings :p
